WATCHMAN WARNING: STAY ALERT

 

 

Not an easy time or pleasant time to be alive.  Not at all.

 

For just a few paragraphs to set the stage, let’s look at this world around us.  I focus here on the US although much similarly could be said of course about other nations.  In the US so many in the national government as well as in other positions of leadership seem to be acting in such ungodly ways.  Lies pervade their daily public remarks as well as so often the remarks of many of the media that are supposed to inform the public and remain impartial.

 

This is a day of evil like none we living now have ever seen.  I know there have been pockets of untold evil in the past, and moments of evil horror such as under the Nazis in WWII and elsewhere.  But this is a general evil that permeates the lifestyles and behaviors of so many people.  Large numbers obviously do not know they are themselves not telling the truth, or they just don’t care. 

 

Lost, confused people listen to the media and the government, and being ungodly themselves they are led astray.  So we get all the wild, virulent people saying things you know are not true.  But they obviously think they are.

 

This recent assassination attempt on former President Trump has shocked many even in the mainstream community.  Let’s be honest.  Most people living have not lived as adults when there has been such a thing happen in America. 

 

People like me who have lived quite a long time remember the ultimate horror of such a happening when the leader of the country was indeed killed.  The murder of President Kennedy was a horror that still has impact.  And all those living then gradually realized – or at least most did – that we were actually not being told the truth about what had happened.  Turned out more than just the shooter were involved.  The full disclosure of the investigation has not even now been released to the public, 61 years after the fact.  And thus began in full view the time of the national government deciding what is best for the people to know and what is not.  And thus also the beginning of many not trusting the government, a lack of trust that has grown up to today when people do not trust the federal security agencies, do not believe we will be told the truth in situations, do not believe many of the leaders.

 

I write all this as background leading up to a big statement.  And this is it.

 

People, dear people, please pay attention.  The times will only get worse on earth.  We are in the very last days of this human period.  The Lord will come any moment, and I surely hope it is indeed any moment, like today for example.  The Father obviously is still drawing others to Jesus.   We know from scripture how hard it all gets as the days go by, but we believers do know that at some moment we will be taken from this confused, dark world society as the final period of true horror on earth ensues.

 

The antichrist has not yet been revealed, although surely he is waiting in the wings.  When the true believers in Jesus are taken away, he no longer has serious human opposition to his efforts to build the one-world government and the Tribulation will go forward.  Already the UN and the World Economic Forum and the World Health Organization are working towards that.

 

Remember always where the truth lies.  It lies in God, in Jesus, in the Holy Spirit, in the Bible.  Pray.  Seek to hear more always.  Live and operate in the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  Use the gifts of the Spirit, especially the gift of discernment, to survive on earth.  The Holy Spirit guides us in all truth.  He tells us of things to come.  He reminds us of things Jesus has said to us.  Remember?

 

There are large numbers of deceived, even deluded people out there, godless people whom the devil readily leads astray.  Living in the midst of all this requires wisdom on our parts and absolute attention to God’s guidance.  His words and his truths are absolute.  They are real and they work.  Remember again Jesus said his believers can do the same things he did, even greater.  Well, are you doing them?  Are you trying to do them?  Are you using God’s tools of protection?  Healing the sick?  Casting out demons?

 

I admit this is an unpleasant time.  I admit I have great difficulty looking ever at reports of what is happening on earth.  But we do need to know what is happening around us surely, so we should try to stay up to date – but just for short periods.  Don’t sit still and blindly listen and watch news programs for hours.  If you do be sure to in Jesus’ name order away from you all evil spirits.

 

You see so many of these people on television in press conferences uttering gobbledygook, lies, falsehoods, nonsense, vitriol, and you see at times they actually believe what they say.  Your heart hurts for them.  They are lost.  They don’t know the truth.  They have no foundation in truth.

 

Jesus has told me so many things about his coming, and I have shared many of them with you.  “Don’t let them go into the night” is one of his statements to me. “When I come things will be different,” is another.  Thank God for that, I say.  And here are just a few more:

 

“Tell them I am coming soon.  My people have their eyes on me.  My people tell the truth.”

 

“It will be like a beacon, like a dagger, a moment, suddenly, no light surprise.”

 

“Tell them I love them.

 

  Tell them to stay focused.

 

  Tell them I am coming soon.

 

  Tell them not to be misled.”

 

Live and operate in the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Pray often and in the Spirit.  Develop your spiritual senses that you will be more discerning in all situations.  And WATCH! as the Lord says.  Be ready for his return.  Stay in the right relationship with him.  Don’t get lost in this lost world in which we all are living now.

 

Remember, our physical bodies may be living in this lost world but we believers – our very selves, our spirits – have somehow been lifted up and even now are sitting with Jesus in Heaven.  Paul wrote about that in Ephesians.  Believers know Jesus.  Believers have Jesus as their Lord.  They are citizens of the Kingdom of God.  They will soon be getting a new glorious body and will be spending eternity in that Kingdom.

 

Hang in there.  He is coming soon.

SIGN OF THE TIMES: HOW DO I GET HOME?

 

Home.

 

Well, what is home?  The house where you grew up?  The apartment?  Lots of people have moved so often there is no real such home like that.

 

Besides, that is just a building.   A place.

 

What is home – It’s where you belong.  It’s a place of peace, of joy.  A place you know you were always supposed to be.  According to Robert Frost, it is a place that, when you go there, they have to take you in.

 

There is only one true home for all humans, one real home.  And that is with the Creator – with God the Father, with Jesus.  Home.

 

But the only people who get to go to that home are believers in Jesus.  Those who have been born anew and have Jesus as their Lord.

 

All the others?  There is a place they are heading, but it is not the home I just described.  Nope.  Unless they change what they are doing, repent, and ask Jesus to be their Lord, they are heading to their ultimate lasting place, the Lake of Fire.  More popularly known as Hell.  There they will be with like-minded people and with the devil, the antichrist, and the false prophet for eternity.

 

Right now the overwhelming majority of people on earth are headed for that terrible eternal place.  Things can always change of course.  The only reason Jesus has not yet come no doubt is because the Father is still working to draw people to Jesus, to salvation.  But I haven’t seen any great signs there will be a huge number of the population suddenly shifting their fundamental behavior and beliefs and becoming true born again believers in Jesus.  Still, I pray that would happen.  We certainly work to tell people who Jesus is and that he is coming soon.  And huge numbers around the world have come to our short videos on this subject.  We will continue to work for more and more to be in the Kingdom, to help God the Father in his drawing them, to be a battle ax for an end time revival as the Lord has called us.

 

Most people live in a stupor.  Most don’t realize to be honest that God is real, Jesus is real, the Holy Spirit is real, the Bible is true, the devil is real, angels are real, demons are real, divine healings and miracles are real too and happen now in our day.  That is how I often started healing services – walking out and saying something like that. 

 

It is all about faith and belief in Jesus.  He is the only way to God.  Most people don’t have that.  Or they have some kind of intellectual faith in the wrong thing, like these terrible false religions like Islam or other things.  Or they perhaps do go so far as to attend a church on Sunday and maybe they even know some Jesus stories, but they never have come to grips with the truth that Jesus is real and alive right now, that miracles happen right now, that they can live in the presence of God right now and be guided by God right now.  They have never been born anew and do not have Jesus truly as the Lord of their lives.  And so they are lost too.

 

When the Lord collects his true believers very soon, that will be an earth-shaking, gut-wrenching moment to all left on earth, a moment like nothing ever before.  No doubt the lost governments will try to cover this up with some type of explanation, such as UFO’s taking the people away.  But whatever the explanation offered and how ever many are taken away, it will be undeniable that many people – including the most moral in society – have been taken away.  The ensuing period will be terrible.  Those who are left behind but do know some of the Jesus stories and maybe have a Bible will be the best off, for they should be able to realize what has happened.  And they should be doing their best to repent, to receive Jesus as their Lord, to get into the Kingdom.  Those hundreds of millions on earth in the false religions will have to rely on information they can find on the Internet, in bookstores, in church buildings, in homes of departed believers...if they even know what to look for.  Maybe they can watch our videos for a while and read our writings as long as they are posted, and maybe they can do that for many other ministries.

 

Going home.  I am ready to go home.  The believers I talk to are ready to go home.  They want to see Jesus come now.  They know that only God can lead people to Jesus, that they can do all they can to help in that, but that in the end he is the one who leads.  And each person seriously must ask Jesus to be their Lord.

 

Although believers hope and prefer their lost friends and family come to have Jesus as their Lord now, they do know these lost people will have a second chance to come to Jesus during the Tribulation Period, even though that time will be horrible.  Remember, John the disciple saw huge numbers of “Tribulation saints” in heaven in Revelation.

 

Home.  Believers are just about there.  Make sure as Jesus advised that you watch!  And that you pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man (See Luke 21:36).  Stay in the right relationship with Jesus!  Don’t allow yourself to drift away, to get so caught up in all the angst and turmoil and evil of this rapidly falling world in which you currently live.

 

Home is not far away.

SIGN OF THE TIMES - ANOTHER STEP TAKEN TO DANIEL 9:27, THE FINAL GREAT PROPHECY THAT STARTS THE TRIBULATION

He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him. – Daniel 9:27 NIV

So we have just now seen another step on the way to Daniel 9:27.  Israel has signed a peace agreement with the United Arab Emirates.  Way back in 1978 you should all remember Israel and Egypt signed a landmark peace agreement.  Then in 1994 Israel and Jordan did the same.  Now after all these years we see another step, but this apparently will not be the only step.

This signing with the United Arab Emirates has brought surprisingly positive comments from several quarters in the Middle East.  It appears now there may soon be more signings.  The Sudan is one such possibility.

Evidently this agreement in Daniel 9:27 may in effect be made up of several smaller agreements that eventually come to form the whole that is the confirmed agreement.  We didn’t know that in the past but now the playing out of events is making this apparent.

So it appears a snowball effect may be about to happen with other Arab nations joining in.  We all refer to the Daniel 9:27 agreement as a peace agreement because elsewhere in Ezekiel 38-39 we find Israel living in unwalled villages – i.e., they obviously feel at peace because they don’t need protective walls around their villages.  How could they feel at peace but for this whole peace agreement being approved?  (And you know that is when the attack on Israel from Russia, Turkey, and Iran comes, an attack God himself repels dramatically.)

The confirming of the agreement in Daniel 9:27 begins the seven year Tribulation.  The one who confirms that agreement, who makes it happen, who brings it about, is the Antichrist.  In the middle of the ensuing seven years he ends the sacrifice and offering in the Temple in Jerusalem and sets up in the Temple an abomination that causes desolation until the end (that would be when he is captured at Armageddon at the end of the seven years and thrown into the Lake of Fire.).

This abomination is his declaring himself God, as we are told by Paul in 2 Thessalonians 2:4 he does.
No, as of right now at this moment I do not know who that individual is. Obviously you and others can speculate.  In not very long it will be apparent.

Dear Partners and Friends, I write all these things because the Lord back in 2005 told me to tell people who he is and that he is coming soon.  Not many years ago he guided me that the return of Jesus is my message now.  Nothing could be more important.  And for you, nothing can be more important than your personally knowing the Lord, being in right relationship with him, being alert for his return as he has indeed guided us, and of course doing whatever you can as guided by the Holy Spirit to help God lead others to Christ.

*TIME TO STAND AGAINST STORM ISAIAS!

The Southeast United States and indeed all the Atlantic Coast states from Florida up to New England are again being threatened by an approaching storm, this time named Isaias by the meteorologists.  For a while it has not appeared clearly just how strong the storm is, but now it seems it is borderline hurricane 1 and may be at that level when and if it comes ashore in the Carolinas as forecasted. Currently it is offshore Florida.  In the past we have all seen just how much damage a storm of this size can do.

But we believers know what Jesus said about all this.   In John 14:12-14 Jesus said those who believe in him will do the same things he had been doing, even greater.  He said that he would do whatever we ask him in his name.  He also said over in John 16:23 that Father God will give us whatever we ask him in Jesus’ name.

In Mark 11:22-23 Jesus made the point that anyone who has faith in God can say to their mountain “go and throw yourself into the sea,” and if they believe and do not doubt, it will be done as they have said.  The mountain for those living along the Southeast coast especially but indeed the full Atlantic coast of the US today is the storm Isaias.

It’s time right now once again to focus on these verses and to put your faith into action.  The gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of power and not just word!  It is these verses and others that lead us to realize that in Jesus all things are possible.

What did Jesus do?  He healed the sick.  He also changed the weather.  And much more.    And he says we can do the same things as he.

Well, we do.  People do receive their healing!  And the weather is changed!

We have certainly seen hurricanes turn aside in the past and/or diminish in power when we and others took that bold stand and action in Jesus’ name, and we have faith and expect that now.  Remember in 2018 when hurricane Florence dropped from a category 4 to a category 1 almost immediately just before hitting land!  Remember hurricane Ophelia several years ago when it came right up to the Southeastern North Carolina shore but could not come ashore, remaining off the coast for a week before turning to go north.
So I ask now everyone wherever you are to use these truths to pray against this storm, to take a stand.  (I personally like to step outside and face southeast in this case, raising arm and hand with palm to the southeast, to the Atlantic Ocean.)

All of you should declare:

In Jesus’ name, I order the storm named Isaias to turn aside from land, to go out to sea and to diminish and disappear.  In Jesus’ name, I order that storm to touch no land and harm no people and no boats!

Be bold!  You can put this in your own words, but that is what Jesus said we could do.  Remember, he changed the weather.  He stopped storms.

Do it now!

* A WATCHMAN WARNING: AMERICANS NEED TO KNOW JESUS

We are living in a time of an increasingly visible and surprising display of evil.  Many, no doubt the majority, are still shocked and confused by it.  Some in authority think they know what is needed and they react by allowing violent behavior to run unchecked right in the midst of our cities, destroying property and meaningful statues and memorials and such, injuring and even in some cases killing people.  Some of these authorities display what seems to be remarkable spinelessness, even some key leaders.  And still others seek to change laws evidently in hopes of calming down the storm. 

  

As part of this evil there are random efforts to remove words and names and brands from the culture, and again some seek to placate and go along. 

And there continues this real sinister threatening behavior of this evil, challenging the pictures of “Jesus and his white European mother,” seeking reparations be paid, seeking to defund and destroy the police, the only really physical force on the ground in the cities that has forever been able to hold down the true criminal element among us.

And in all this those seeking to placate these evil forces find themselves never doing enough to placate, never being accepted in their actions.  And if they can ever admit it, they realize they don’t understand.

Of course they don’t.  They are going about trying to respond using rational thought processes of the past, even if they have seemed spineless and cowardly to most of the country.  Even if it has seemed they have left the mainstream citizens out to dry.

But they don’t understand.  They have thought that what is going on – at least initially they had thought this – is another step in the civil rights movement, an effort to address legitimate grievances and to get things changed.  That may have been true for some legitimate protesters.  But early in the protests a wild and apparently random rage appeared on the part of some people of both black and white color.  A violent group or groups arose, taking frightening action and proposing change that in no way lines up or agrees with the wishes or beliefs of most people in all races.  Their behavior is disturbing.  It seems insane.  More than seems.

And this bizarre behavior just continues on.  First the statues to be destroyed were of Confederate military heroes.  Well, regardless of how the mainstream viewed this, they could at least understand.  But then it moved to George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, and the destruction could not readily be understood.   Two of the greatest people to ever live.  And then on to Abraham Lincoln, the president who freed the slaves, and that made no sense to ordinary Americans!  Obviously this destruction really didn’t have to do with civil rights issues.  Obviously it was not to right racial wrongs.  Obviously something else was afoot.

Right.

Evil is afoot.

Statues of Stevie Ray Vaughn, a blues guitarist, and of Francis Scott Key who wrote the Star Spangled Banner and of Columbus, who brought the Western Hemisphere to the attention of the known world, were destroyed.

Makes no sense.  No, of course not.  This is evil.

There are demands to rename buildings in the universities and elsewhere, and demands to remove a famous movie or book from circulation, and demands to change the names of products famous and loved for decades.

Now the streets of major cities are getting more and more dangerous.  New York City, which had been remarkably safe for years, is becoming much more dangerous.  Murders are up greatly over last year at the same time.  And in Chicago so many are killed and shot every weekend, including little boys and girls. 

That Chicago thing is particularly revealing, isn’t it?  So many young black people killed.  But those thought to be leading a civil rights type movement could care less.  They spend no time on this.  Those people are not their focus.  All this it turns out is not a civil rights movement. 

And on we go.  The leader of the nation speaks out on issue after issue, and sometimes very well as at the Mt Rushmore speech, but the major newspapers and most of the news networks criticize him unmercifully and in some cases blatantly lie to the public, way beyond what we have ever seen.

This all does not make sense, does it.  On top of it all the nation has been struggling to fight some strange virus that came from China, following initially the guidance of some medical experts that has been changed quite a bit over the months.  In fact the original policies to deal with the virus were based on a faulty model from England that had the virus being fifteen or more times as deadly as it has been!  Individual governors have the control of their states, and some operate like autocrats while others choose not to do much of anything and their states have done remarkably well.  Much of the action of the governors and mayors in fact could be argued as not agreeing with the Constitution, such as having Americans stay home, closing down businesses, forced wearing of masks.  Yes, all these are subjects that truthfully could be debated.  And still it is obvious the “experts” still don’t know a great deal about what is happening with the virus. 

Perhaps most amazing about the virus is the fact that the death rate is extremely low.  Even though the death totals are a large number because the US has a large total population, they are nowhere near the number of deaths every year from heart disease (five times as many as this virus) or cancer (five times as many as this virus), and even just now are approaching deaths from each of several other illnesses or other things that kill many, such as respiratory, stroke, accidents.  Americans have never been given the straight scoop by their own governments on this.  Every night media blurt out almost proudly new case numbers but never mention that a case is just a positive test result, not a sick person.  Many positive case results never get sick, and of those who do a great number just have a mild illness at home.

Why do I talk about all this?

Because we are human beings and we are now under real serious stress and attack.  I just saw a doctor at a hospital in northern California say that the number of suicides these past few months has been far greater than the number of deaths from the virus.   This is all so very hard for everyone.  All of this is flat out evil.  All those violent physical attacks and threats discussed above cannot be understood by normal, rationally thinking people because they are random and not targeted.  They are not focused on one objective.  If those in authority give in to one of the demands of these unorthodox and violent groups, they will just move on to something else.  They really are not interested in the specific objectives.

What are they interested in?

Destruction.  Of the American culture and government and system.  Of the American approach to life.

That’s it.  Most Americans haven’t quite gotten to that point yet in understanding what is happening, but they will.  Most of the hapless leaders haven’t either, but they will, when they find their bending over and kneeling accomplished nothing.  And the corporate leaders who sold out their shareholders and America by funding this violence and adopting their slogans to their own tee shirts and such will find that out too.

Who would want such destruction?  In the great overall sense, Satan, the devil.  America must be brought down in power and influence so that it will join in the one world government that has been being developed for some time and soon will come into being, the government of the Antichrist, the man of lawlessness.

At the physical, merely human, world system level, the communists and socialists of the world want this destruction. 

And the virus?  Oh, that set the people up to living in great uncertainty, to being less secure and strong than they were, to accepting government orders to do things they normally would not such as giving up their rights and sheltering in place, not getting together with others to socialize and to discuss what is happening, not going to work, not having the activities they always enjoyed.  The virus set the background stage for the random and frightening disruption we have seen.  It was the perfect opening for all those wanting to destroy America.

Thankfully we are right at the end of this age in human history.  Thankfully very very soon the Lord will come to collect his believers.  And after he does much greater horrors than we have seen thus far will unfold on the earth.

What do Americans need now?

Americans need to know Jesus.  Truly know him. 

And what is going to happen now?

Ever more random disruption and violence and mayhem and confusion.  These next few months look exceedingly difficult.  When the Lord comes to collect his sheep, a wonderful outlook awaits believers.  But for the others, the majority on earth, there is not a good outlook.

As always in all things keep your eyes on Jesus.  As you can and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, stand up to falsehood, to evil.  Speak God’s truth in all situations.  Use the gifts he has given you.  Tell others about Jesus and the gospel message. Give them whatever material you may have that may help in God’s leading them to Jesus.

* SIGN OF THE TIMES: WAKING UP TO A SHOCKING REALITY

I have been trying to think of what to write and say about all that has happened in recent days.  It has been difficult.  I think the recent months and especially the past week or so have been the worst I have seen in this country in my lifetime.

What makes it the worst?  The terrible disease?  No, we have had bad diseases before.  Well, what then?  The murder of that man in Minneapolis by a police officer?  No, although horrible, we have sadly seen that before.

Well, what then?                                                                                                                                                 
I think it is the abject failure of those elected to leadership positions in this country to protect the citizens of the country and preserve the basic rights and liberties of the people.  I think it is the shocking recognition by all of us that they really weren’t going to do anything to stop the violence, that we have some really terrible governors and mayors who just do not understand some essential things.

We have now seen many such leaders clearly not being able to differentiate good from evil, right from wrong.  In the coronavirus we saw many – including the whole national government – overreact and suppress the people, taking away basic rights.  Now some governors have moved to restore freedoms  while others seem to delight in holding the people down where there is no cause.

And in these past few days we have discovered many of these leaders do not understand the first responsibility of any of them is to protect the citizens and their property.  While pretending to be empathetic in a horrible situation, they turned the streets of the cities over to violent, evil, horrible thugs and felons to destroy and beat up and create general mayhem.  Stores destroyed.  Famous stores and little stores of individuals who worked their lives to have a business.  People beaten horribly – men, women, police.  People killed.  Monuments that mean a lot to the nation defaced – like the Lincoln Memorial and the WWII monument.

Peaceful protests are absolutely fine and represent an expression of the freedoms that come with being an American.  Horrible violence is not fine and represents flat out evil being acted out in harm to others.

The failure of leadership by the governors in many states and the mayors in many cities should create shivers down the spines of all citizens.  This shows America that we have the wrong people in positions of authority.  We should have known that.  We do now.  Most of the lack of response and understanding of what to do came from liberal governors and mayors who just couldn’t bring themselves to act.  Or didn’t have any idea what executive decision-making means.  And then the horrible violence which hid under the pretense of legitimate protests was supported by so many of the awful wealthy know-nothing Hollywood entertainers and liberal news media.

And too we cannot fail to note the national government did little either other than to give speeches and offer to send troops if the local leaders requested.  Surely there must have been more they could have done.

Surely all law-abiding Americans who know the Lord have seen enough of the news media and the Hollywood entertainers to last a lifetime.  We don’t need to see them anymore, do we?

But what is the country to do when its leaders will not enforce its laws, when there is no accountability for violence?  (What did the country expect when areas began to release prisoners or not even to hold felons arrested by police who were immediately released by the local magistrates?)

As you and I know, all this fits in the various prophecies for life in the last days before the Lord’s return.  The general increase in lawlessness.  The falling away from God.  Still, it is sickening to live through.

I have not written of other things going on simultaneously that perhaps you should know of.  There have been many earthquakes in key places.  Just two days ago a fairly strong one in southern California and a very very strong one in northern Chile.  In the days preceding, there have been many strong earthquakes, from New Zealand to Idaho.  Pretty alarming.

And of course those locusts keep attacking parts of the world.

The countries of the world today live in various states of fear, being locked down by governments that just do not know what to do.

You know the time is near for the Lord’s return.  Still, no Antichrist has appeared or been identified.  Still, no peace agreement has been signed with Israel that will begin the seven year Tribulation.  So there seems to be some time left.  Things don’t look good, do they, for the quality of life on earth.  The simple answer is no they don’t.

Keep your eyes on Jesus, as always.  Pray for God’s mercy for the United States and the world.  Pray for wise and skillful believers to be elected to positions of leaders in the states and cities.  And pray that the American citizens have now waked up to the dreadful quality of so many of those in “leadership” positions in this country.

TO CHRISTIAN WORKERS TOILING IN QUIETNESS AND WONDERING

Many wonderful people toil in this world to do the work of the Lord, to fulfill what they understand is their calling.

For some the results are immediately apparent, such as giving relief aid to starving people, helping build houses for the poor, that kind of thing.

For many others the results are not as obvious – such as for those striving to help others understand who Jesus is, what he did, who they are and can be in him.  Remember, Jesus said some sow and others reap.  The sowers who are aggressively out there may operate in a personally lonely world.  Telling the truth, even the wonderful God’s truth, is not something a lot of people want to or can receive easily.  The evil one has done a great deal of work creating interference, noise, confusion.

Once I wrote a poem to Emily Dickinson.  She is one of the two or three that might be considered America’s greatest poet.  Now I have no evidence she strived in ministry anytime, but she wrote countless poems that are quickly read and go right to the heart of life and life’s great issues.  Her poems are just plain wonderful.

Yet in her life she did not know that she was so regarded.  Maybe one or two of her poems were published in a local paper.  She just lived a lonely, quiet life, not married.  At one point she wrote a poignant poem that began with this line:

     This is my letter to the world,
     That never wrote to me,-     

There is more, but that makes the point about her life.  So one day I decided to answer her letter to the world with this poem:

A Reply to Emily Dickinson   (poem copyright © 2004 by John Newlin)
     We received your letter to the world
     That never wrote to you;
     We read it twice, thousands of times,
     Your words and heart come through.
   
     Our physical hands are the ones
     That you just could not see;
     With admiration from afar,
     We judge you tenderly.

She would have liked that poem.  It is in her style.

But my point to all of you in sharing this is that you do not know your impact on others.  You have no idea how you are impacting them or how you are being used by God.

Just one closing example.  For years we were on television from New England all the way to Florida.  One a day a young man from the Boston area called.  He requested a few CDs.  I offered but he did not want to be added to the distribution list.  We talked just a few moments.  Suddenly he blurted out ”Your programs are wonderful!  Saved my life.”  And with that he was gone.  I lived a long time on that phone call.

God knows who you are, what you are doing, what you need.  Sometimes when you feel most alone, he just steps in.  And then sometimes maybe when you are so alone, you wish he would step in!  Just remember, we don’t see the big picture.  We can’t.  If you are doing what you think you are supposed to be doing, what God has called you to do, that is it.  You are fulfilling your call.  And maybe this message from me is God’s message to you.

* REAL THANKSGIVING: CAN YOU IMAGINE?

CAN YOU CONCEIVE HOW FRIGHTENING THE WORLD MUST BE TO A NONBELIEVER?

Now remember, that is what most people are – nonbelievers.

Imagine not knowing Jesus, not knowing there is a future for you, not knowing that there is a God and that that God forgives you and loves you.  Imagine not knowing that that God indeed has a plan for you.

Imagine not knowing any of the truths of life, like the truths about death and resurrection, about forgiveness, about the Kingdom of God, about divine healing.

Imagine not knowing that God is real, that Jesus is real, that the Holy Spirit is real, that the Bible is true, that angels are real, that the devil and demons are real too.

Imagine not knowing how to protect yourself using the armor of God or not having God’s angels around to serve you.

Imagine that every day is basically a random events day, a day where the significance of things that happen is just not understood, where everything is considered an accident or coincidence or perhaps something you in your own strength and abilities have planned and scheduled that has worked out or not.

Imagine just not knowing and sitting on a quiet night and wondering where you are, what existence is, what is going to happen to you.  Imagine thinking the grave is the end, the only end.

Imagine.

Thank God that you don’t have to!

Thank God that you know Jesus!  Praise God!  Thank Jesus for his incredible sacrifice!  We cannot say thanks enough.  There are no words or actions that suffice.
