* A WATCHMAN WARNING: A PERSON CANNOT REPENT FOR SOMEONE ELSE!

We are hearing too much confusing stuff lately from various sources on the idea of national repentance.  Some are seeking to follow after the nation of Malawi that has been big in national repentance.

Certainly there is nothing wrong in people praying for the country.  But there needs to be some truth spoken here.  People must have an understanding of Biblical truths.  They can’t just create their own worlds.  We live in a physical, secular world that has various characteristics, some terrible to be sure, but this is the world we live in.  And as partial spirit beings we must strive to understand the spiritual world we were created by and will live in again, while we live in part in that world and in part visibly in this physical realm.

Here are some truths that cannot be ignored:

• A person cannot repent for another person. That very word repent means to change what a person is doing.  In the Christian sense it means to turn from the sinful life they have been living to a life of following the Lord.  A person who comes to Christ repents of their sinful life and asks Jesus to be the Lord of their life.  They change what they have been doing.

• In the Bible no one repents for another person. But it is possible as shown there to intercede for another.  A great example is Moses and his intercession for the millions he was leading around the wilderness on the way eventually to the Promised Land.  When the people behaved terribly, if Moses had not stepped in, God would have eliminated them or punished them some other way.  But Moses interceded.  In essence, he asked for God’s mercy, for God to forgive the people for their transgression.  By his very actions, he kept the Israelites going for forty years.

• So when we hear talk about repenting for our nation, we really can’t do that by ourselves. We can ask for God’s mercy.  We can also ask him to forgive our nation.  But the great majority of the people are not true believers in the Lord.   They are the ones approving of all the aspects of falling away from God today, such as endorsing and backing all the LGBTQ moves and actions and backing wholesale abortion and so on.  Those are the people who absolutely have to repent.  [When God sent Jonah to Ninevah, he was about to destroy the city.  But Jonah preached to the city and the leaders and the people repented.  It wasn’t Jonah who repented.  The people of the place repented.  The bad or lost people, to put it in modern terms.  And God let the city continue for a hundred years.]

• Some believers love to quote the wonderful scripture from II Chronicles 7:14 where God says if the people will humble themselves and pray and seek his face and turn from their wicked ways, then he will hear from heaven, and he will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Well, if we are talking about repentance here as it appears to be, the massive numbers of nonbelievers in the land must humble themselves and pray.  All we believers can do is ask for God’s mercy on the land.  And we can ask him to draw the nonbelieving people to a saving knowledge of Jesus!  That would certainly lead them to repent.

The United States has fallen greatly from God.  II Thessalonians 2:3 makes the point that the Day of the Lord will not come until there is a falling away from God (apostasy) and until the man of lawlessness (the antichrist) is identified.  I just read in the last few days a piece by a Christian writer making the point the first half of this has already happened – the falling away from God half.  It is difficult to argue that is not true in the US today as well as much of the world.

My guidance to you based on all the Lord has shown me over the years is to do all you can and all you are led to by the Holy Spirit to get the truths of who Jesus is and that he is returning soon out to more and more.  Pray for God to lead all those you pray about to a saving knowledge of Jesus.  Talk about Jesus and the gospel to others as you can.  Give them material to help, like our book WAKE UP AMERICA.

* WATCHMAN WARNING: HERE WE ARE AND THE TIMES ARE NOT GOOD

So for years I have written of the imminent return and of the full gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Now we are here in the last of the last days before that return, and things are becoming increasingly difficult.

Most of us didn’t think about that, did we, that the times approaching his return would be so difficult.  But then they had too.  With all the unbelief, the increasing immorality, the fall away from God, what could we expect?  And so we have it.

Certainly all born again, spirit-filled believers should be using that great spiritual gift of discernment to see what is happening all around them.  Regardless of how anyone might think this mysterious covid-19 coronavirus began and spread, such believers must recognize that those evil forces we have spoken of so much that operate in the last days and the Tribulation period have jumped in on so many fronts to seize the day for their objectives.  Increasing government control of the people, diminishing religion, ending the basic freedoms even guaranteed in the Constitution, moving ever closer to that one-world government.  Anyone who has lived a few decades and has a grasp of history must still be shocked at the behavior of Americans who initially so readily acquiesced to the end of their rights and the loss of their freedoms.

Are you free to go get a haircut?

Are you free to go outside with your friends to play tennis?

Are you free to get a group together for a picnic in the park?

Are you free to take a beach vacation?

Are you free to stay in motels and hotels wherever you want to go?

Are you free to demonstrate publically against government positions?

All of this type of stuff is protected in the Constitution.  Most of it you have lost, at least in many areas of the country (and world too, although I speak here specifically of the USA).

Fear is at play in a big way and has been for months now.  Fear is not from God.  You know where fear comes from.  Leaders and media types who do not know the Lord operate in fear every day.  They hype death rates and case rates.  They ignore facts.

Those people I have written of and the Bible warned of, those deceivers, those evil persons, those who would work to put together a one-world government, they are moving full speed ahead right now.

Yes there are pockets where some governors resisted.  But especially not some of the big population areas.

Californians don’t have freedoms.  School may not open there this fall.  Yet California has had a very low coronavirus occurrence.  The state has been very successful in fending it off.  The mayor of Los Angeles doesn’t think the people can return to “normal” until there is a cure for this virus.  Of course, you know there has never been a cure for AIDS, or for the common cold, or for the flu.  They haven’t stopped us before.

Those in Michigan are living under terribly tight controls – even against the right to petition, to assemble and protest.

The mayor of Chicago wants those who work for her to declare allegiance to the one-world government.

Are you getting the idea?

This lockdown of the country and the world’s countries was never merited.  The model that forecast such a horrible death total for the US and the UK was highly flawed or just a complete fraud.  While the news media every day hype the death totals and the case counts, the fact remains that the death rate is extremely low, not high enough to ever have closed the economy and society down.  Less than two hundredths of one percent of the population!  When some doctors have spoken up on these truths, they have been shut down.  A video of two speaking out in California was removed from YOUTUBE by YOUTUBE.

Well, freedom of speech is a basic right but not on the Internet.  YOUTUBE, GOOGLE, FACEBOOK, TWITTER do not have to operate by those rules.

Years ago a man from the computer world warned me of the godless computer companies.  Now we see them all working to produce means of control, of following each person, of tracking persons.

I see some municipalities in America have acquired drones to track people and to monitor compliance to their unconstitutional regulations.

What drives the people behind all this, behind the international organizations and the country and state governments?  They for sure are not serious believers.  They are marching to a different drum.  They were either ready for such a world problem as this disease and immediately seized it...  or there was even more sinister coordination of all this than we can imagine.

I like to say the New York City area had a pandemic; the rest of America did not.  Most of the hospitals in the rest of the country were never stretched, never overburdened.  As for the world, you could say the USA, France, the UK, Spain, Italy, and now possibly Brazil had a pandemic; the rest of the world did not.  Have you looked at the incredibly small case and deaths rate numbers for the majority of the world?   Yet even there the people are sheltered in place, even in third-world countries where they have no social network to fall back on for food supply.

This all is a work of the devil.  I hope you can recognize that.  He operates where people are confused, where they don’t know the truth.  He operates in fear and in lies.  In John 8:44 Jesus made the point the devil was a murderer from the beginning and that he is the father of lies.  Evil is at work in a big way throughout the world.  We should expect that.  These are the last days.

Certainly this is a good time to get the full gospel message out to others and to teach about the return of the Lord.  Historically people turn to God in times of suffering and distress.    Certainly this is a time we would expect conditions to help in the Father’s leading people to Jesus.

The Bible had some basic scriptures about this time, scriptures of warning and description.  I share a few here:

2 Timothy 3:13
…evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

Luke 21:8:
“…Watch out that you are not deceived…” 

2 Timothy 3:1
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.

Daniel 12:10
…the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.

Well, you all know the Biblical prophesies fulfilled, the signs of the times that I discussed in our book WAKE UP AMERICA and in many past writings.  It’s just the details of how it all comes about that is not covered in the Bible.  All the things had to happen somehow.  So we are seeing that and will no doubt see much more.

Hold fast to your faith.  Keep your eyes on Jesus.  As you are led by the Spirit, do whatever you can to share your faith with others and help the Father lead them to Jesus.  And for your own peace and rest in this time, remember Paul’s advice in Philippians 4:8 – “…whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.”

In all this, do not forget the Lord said he is never going to lose us.

Live in the fullness of a righteous relationship with God all the days of your life.

SIGN OF THE TIMES: ASTONISHING! WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO US ALL AS A PEOPLE? (JUST GIVE US THE FACTS PLEASE!)

None can deny these are unpleasant and difficult times.  They are also the times shortly before the return of Jesus. In just a few short weeks a frightening but erroneous lethal forecast for a new virus coupled with decisions by the leaders and experts throughout the world to ignore established rights of the people has led to near disaster for America’s and the world’s economies.  Thankfully the model’s death forecasts for this coronavirus were terribly wrong.  And yes we still of course do need to be cautious about that disease and to use the wise preventive steps that have been advanced.

Something most of us seldom see or hear when this virus is discussed anywhere is real solid facts.  Mostly what we hear is hype.  Below are the facts of our current situation.

• The USA leads the 200+ countries in the world by a lot in the number of deaths attributed to covid-19 coronavirus: more than 81,000 deaths.

• In second place is the UK with more than 32,000, closely followed by Italy at more than 30,000, and France and Spain each with more than 26,000.

• Then there is a great drop to the next country, with Brazil filling that spot at more than 11,000.

• Surprisingly, none of the remaining 190 + countries on earth has even 10,000 deaths from this disease. Not Russia.  Not China if we believe China’s numbers.  Not the giant India or the huge Pakistan or Nigeria. 

• In fact, the majority of the world’s countries have very few deaths, far less than they have deaths from other diseases like tuberculosis and malaria and so on. About sixty-five percent of the world’s countries each have less than one hundred deaths from coronavirus.  Many have far fewer than that, totals in the ten to twenty range.

• Even in the USA the death total for coronavirus is way below the annual level for cancer (600,000), heart disease (650,000), respiratory, stroke, and so on. Using recent full year figures from the CDC, coronavirus would rank as the sixth or seventh greatest killer.

• In the USA, almost half of the deaths are in New York and New Jersey, with a huge amount being right in New York City. Why is that?  Why haven’t we seen huge numbers of deaths in other great international cities like Tokyo, for example?

• A great number of US states have little coronavirus. A few never closed down.

• The overwhelming majority of deaths from coronavirus are in older people, people over seventy, and most of those have preexisting conditions (esp. obesity and diabetes). There are few deaths for younger adults and nearly zero for anyone under 18.

• In the US a significant portion of the deaths have occurred in nursing homes where the elderly were sitting ducks and obviously those giving the care were not prepared. If we back out those figures, the US figures drop greatly.  Even including those figures, the percent death rate in the US from this disease is only two hundredths of one percent of the population.

With all that as background, there are very real and serious questions for you to contemplate:

• Look how focused the impact of this disease has been. Is this God’s judgement on Western culture?

• Is this somehow a targeted disease from China against the western powers – the USA and western Europe?

• Why is so much of the rest of the world so little affected? Why don’t we see more in the media questioning all this?

• And why has the rest of the world nevertheless caused such severe harm to itself by shutting down just like the USA and Europe?

• Why everywhere have people under at least sixty not been allowed to continue working and traveling about as normal, just observing the basic prevention rules of handwashing, social distancing, and perhaps wearing a mask? That would have averted the great destruction of the economy throughout the world and who knows how many persons suffering and even dying from starvation, increased suicides, and such.

• The USA government took the steps of encouraging the shelter at home policy, the lockdown, after medical experts presented forecasted deaths of over 2 million (from a model). The same model projected deaths of 500 million in the UK.   

• Is this lockdown of the world’s economies the greatest mistake in the history of the world?

• Why are certain governors and other political leaders continuing to oppress people with stringent controls when it is obvious they are not warranted?

• Regardless of how the coronavirus came about, is the subsequent reaction of the various governments and the hyped actions of many in media and other fields an effort to break down the strong western economies and maybe even the world, putting the world’s nations in a much more subdued state easily organized into that one world government of the end times, the government run by the antichrist?

• Will we ever see a return of the basic rights of Americans to the citizens? A full return?  Why did Americans so readily give up their rights, rights like freedom of speech, freedom to assemble, freedom of religion, and so on? 

• Is there much more going on today in the governments, the media, and more than just the fighting against a serious disease? (Come on – you know the answer to that one.  Of course.)

Why such a reaction to this disease?  One religious writer I just read cites the great lack of faith among so many people, the incessant chatter of the social media, and the endless focus on bad news by the media itself.  I would add to that the behavior of several politicians who seem to jump right into the mainstream of shutting things down and exerting ever more power.  All of this creates every more fear, and as believers know, fear is not from God.  It is demonic, a tool of the devil.

One great concern I have outside the disease itself is the way Americans readily gave up their rights in recent weeks.  When the various government bodies started coming out with all their edicts and orders, they just acquiesced and closed their businesses, went home to stay.  Governors and lower level government officials put into place more and more regulations that completely go against the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  You may not know this, but governors do not have the legal right to tell citizens to stay home, to shut down businesses, not to gather together, not to petition if they want.  The government does not have the legal right to tell churches not to hold services.  Some of this may have been wise for a while – generally during flu season many people try not to be in crowds for example.  But you should know that there is no right given these leaders to take the steps they have taken.  What is worse, lower level staff such as a few deputies and police and lower level judges have actually arrested and even sentenced people to fines or jail for disobeying such regulations.  A woman letting her daughter play outside her house in one state was arrested.  A man pitching a ball with his daughter in an empty field was taken away in handcuffs.  Now we see some leaders asking people to snitch on others if they disobey the shelter in place rules.

I think all of us who may have never understood before now can see how easy it is for dictators to rise and seize power.  All it took here was some fear blown up way out of proportion by the media and false projections.

One well known judge suggested recently that some of these governors and other officials could be prosecuted for their actions.  Wonder if that will ever happen.

I am concerned about how quickly and if we will all get back the rights that our founding fathers and our military fought so hard to obtain and preserve.  What do you think George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Patrick Henry would all think of the recent weeks.  Or for that matter those who fought to save the world in WWII, like my father.

It goes without saying that this is a bizarre disease with bizarre symptoms.  I may write on that in another piece.  But right now the big concern is the bizarre way it has been handled by the world’s governments and the great fear people have shown in their personal responses.

There are more questions and more facts, but that is enough.  At this time in our lives, we all must remain singularly focused on Jesus.  Always seek to be guided by the Holy Spirit, using the great gifts of discernment and wisdom and more.

I suspect we have not seen the end of surprises to our way of life for this year.  Be alert as Jesus warned in Luke 21:36.  Watch that you are not deceived as he warned in Luke 21:8.  And realize we are dealing with a lot of godless people who occupy pretty senior positions in our country and world – government leaders and staff, media, businessmen, others.  No doubt there are some believers there too.  Just be alert.

The Lord never said these would be easy times.  We still have not seen the beginning of the Tribulation, for that starts when Israel signs a peace agreement they truly believe.  That hasn’t happened.  But we are surely well into fulfillment of the prophesies of things to happen before the Lord’s return.  See our book WAKE UP AMERICA! for all on that.  Pestilence is a prophetic sign Jesus gave in both Luke 21 and Matthew 24.  And the fourth horse of the apocalypse in Revelation 6 brings pestilence as well.

There is much to think about and much to pray about.
