WATCHMAN WARNING: STAY ALERT

 

 

Not an easy time or pleasant time to be alive.  Not at all.

 

For just a few paragraphs to set the stage, let’s look at this world around us.  I focus here on the US although much similarly could be said of course about other nations.  In the US so many in the national government as well as in other positions of leadership seem to be acting in such ungodly ways.  Lies pervade their daily public remarks as well as so often the remarks of many of the media that are supposed to inform the public and remain impartial.

 

This is a day of evil like none we living now have ever seen.  I know there have been pockets of untold evil in the past, and moments of evil horror such as under the Nazis in WWII and elsewhere.  But this is a general evil that permeates the lifestyles and behaviors of so many people.  Large numbers obviously do not know they are themselves not telling the truth, or they just don’t care. 

 

Lost, confused people listen to the media and the government, and being ungodly themselves they are led astray.  So we get all the wild, virulent people saying things you know are not true.  But they obviously think they are.

 

This recent assassination attempt on former President Trump has shocked many even in the mainstream community.  Let’s be honest.  Most people living have not lived as adults when there has been such a thing happen in America. 

 

People like me who have lived quite a long time remember the ultimate horror of such a happening when the leader of the country was indeed killed.  The murder of President Kennedy was a horror that still has impact.  And all those living then gradually realized – or at least most did – that we were actually not being told the truth about what had happened.  Turned out more than just the shooter were involved.  The full disclosure of the investigation has not even now been released to the public, 61 years after the fact.  And thus began in full view the time of the national government deciding what is best for the people to know and what is not.  And thus also the beginning of many not trusting the government, a lack of trust that has grown up to today when people do not trust the federal security agencies, do not believe we will be told the truth in situations, do not believe many of the leaders.

 

I write all this as background leading up to a big statement.  And this is it.

 

People, dear people, please pay attention.  The times will only get worse on earth.  We are in the very last days of this human period.  The Lord will come any moment, and I surely hope it is indeed any moment, like today for example.  The Father obviously is still drawing others to Jesus.   We know from scripture how hard it all gets as the days go by, but we believers do know that at some moment we will be taken from this confused, dark world society as the final period of true horror on earth ensues.

 

The antichrist has not yet been revealed, although surely he is waiting in the wings.  When the true believers in Jesus are taken away, he no longer has serious human opposition to his efforts to build the one-world government and the Tribulation will go forward.  Already the UN and the World Economic Forum and the World Health Organization are working towards that.

 

Remember always where the truth lies.  It lies in God, in Jesus, in the Holy Spirit, in the Bible.  Pray.  Seek to hear more always.  Live and operate in the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  Use the gifts of the Spirit, especially the gift of discernment, to survive on earth.  The Holy Spirit guides us in all truth.  He tells us of things to come.  He reminds us of things Jesus has said to us.  Remember?

 

There are large numbers of deceived, even deluded people out there, godless people whom the devil readily leads astray.  Living in the midst of all this requires wisdom on our parts and absolute attention to God’s guidance.  His words and his truths are absolute.  They are real and they work.  Remember again Jesus said his believers can do the same things he did, even greater.  Well, are you doing them?  Are you trying to do them?  Are you using God’s tools of protection?  Healing the sick?  Casting out demons?

 

I admit this is an unpleasant time.  I admit I have great difficulty looking ever at reports of what is happening on earth.  But we do need to know what is happening around us surely, so we should try to stay up to date – but just for short periods.  Don’t sit still and blindly listen and watch news programs for hours.  If you do be sure to in Jesus’ name order away from you all evil spirits.

 

You see so many of these people on television in press conferences uttering gobbledygook, lies, falsehoods, nonsense, vitriol, and you see at times they actually believe what they say.  Your heart hurts for them.  They are lost.  They don’t know the truth.  They have no foundation in truth.

 

Jesus has told me so many things about his coming, and I have shared many of them with you.  “Don’t let them go into the night” is one of his statements to me. “When I come things will be different,” is another.  Thank God for that, I say.  And here are just a few more:

 

“Tell them I am coming soon.  My people have their eyes on me.  My people tell the truth.”

 

“It will be like a beacon, like a dagger, a moment, suddenly, no light surprise.”

 

“Tell them I love them.

 

  Tell them to stay focused.

 

  Tell them I am coming soon.

 

  Tell them not to be misled.”

 

Live and operate in the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Pray often and in the Spirit.  Develop your spiritual senses that you will be more discerning in all situations.  And WATCH! as the Lord says.  Be ready for his return.  Stay in the right relationship with him.  Don’t get lost in this lost world in which we all are living now.

 

Remember, our physical bodies may be living in this lost world but we believers – our very selves, our spirits – have somehow been lifted up and even now are sitting with Jesus in Heaven.  Paul wrote about that in Ephesians.  Believers know Jesus.  Believers have Jesus as their Lord.  They are citizens of the Kingdom of God.  They will soon be getting a new glorious body and will be spending eternity in that Kingdom.

 

Hang in there.  He is coming soon.

* SIGN OF THE TIMES: NOT QUALIFIED

 

Now more than ever in history perhaps we have this irrefutable truth made abundantly clear:

 

People on their own are not qualified to rule.  They cannot be good kings or any other type of top ruler.

 

We have this guidance given us way back in the early books of the Bible.  The Israelites kept pestering the spiritual leader of their time, Samuel, for God to give them a king.  They wanted to have a king like all the other nations.  Of course, God was their leader.  They were his people.  And no nation could compete with Israel when they were truly following God.

 

Still these Israelites kept demanding a king.

 

So God decided to give them one.  Samuel was so ashamed, but God pointed out to him it was not Samuel they had rejected but God himself.  Imagine.  What if you or I had that choice?  Would you take God over President Biden or President Trump or any other worldly leader?  Of course you would, if you are a true believer.  Otherwise, probably not.

 

So Samuel told the people all the horrible things a king would do to them.  You can read all this in 1 Samuel 8.

 

And then he went forward and anointed Saul as God had led him to do.  And the rest is history.  Saul had some good points but also some very bad ones.  And David finally became King.  He too had some good points.  But not entirely.  And so it went.  King after king, in Judah and Israel.  Good and bad, but often really bad.

 

No doubt many of their problems could have all been avoided but the people chose to have a king. 

 

And here we are today with our human top leaders.  The current government obviously doesn’t know what to do with the key problems of the day.  It is a matter of stumbling along.  That is true throughout the world.  And it is apparent the leaders – at least most – don’t know where we are in time and what is soon to happen with the Lord’s return.  They are just lost in their confused and jumbled world.

 

Jesus has promised to his believers that we will rule with him.  We will sit on his throne with him!  How wonderful is that!  And how wonderful is it that we will rule with him, not by ourselves.  With him!

 

And Jesus will be King of all the earth.

* SIGN OF THE TIMES: NOT AN INFANT BUT KING OF KINGS

  

When Jesus was born more than 2000 years ago, he came into the world in the humblest of circumstances.  He was born in a stable because there was no room for him in the inn.  His earthly father was a carpenter.  For some time he and his earthly family lived in Bethlehem and then in Egypt, staying away from the evil Herod before returning eventually to live and grow up in Nazareth.  Jesus surely was trained in and learned Joseph’s craft of carpentry, and when he was thirty he left home to become an itinerant preacher.

 

For three years he went around teaching, preaching, and healing, bringing the kingdom of God to those who would believe, amazing people with his healings and miracles and with his casting demons out of people.  Finally, he went to the cross, carrying all the sins, sicknesses, diseases, pains of the human race and overcoming all that, along with death, shame, regret and more.  He overcame all that by his death and resurrection, restoring the right for people to have a relationship with God – if they will just recognize who Jesus is and have him as their Lord.

 

People this Christmas season again are in so many ways celebrating the baby that was born in the manger so many years ago.  And surely that event deserves all the celebration we can muster!  But that baby is not there.  He has not been there for more than 2000 years.  Several years ago Cathy and I were sitting in a Moravian Church on Christmas Eve, and while the service was underway the Lord spoke to me so clearly:  These people are celebrating my birth, and here I am getting ready to return.

 

In our day this Lord is returning to earth, first to collect his believers and take them with him and then to lead an army of his holy ones – his angels and believers – to fight at Armageddon against all the evil forces arrayed against him. He is not returning as a baby in a humble situation.  He is returning as the King of the Kingdom of God and the ruler of the government of that Kingdom.   He is the King of all kings.  Everything is under his feet.  At Armageddon he is completely victorious, destroying the enemy with the sword coming from his mouth, the WORD.  All soldiers in the opposing army are killed, the antichrist and the false prophet are thrown into the lake of fire for eternity, and the devil is locked in a deep pit.  The Lord then sets up in Jerusalem the government of the Kingdom of God, with believers holding positions of authority in that government.  He will be King over the whole earth. 

 

And we will then see the line in the Lord’s prayer fulfilled:  thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 

 

And also the words of Isaiah written so long ago:

 

…the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
⁷ Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever. – Isaiah 9:6-7

 

 

 

Be ready.  Stay in the right relationship with the Lord.

* SIGN OF THE TIMES: OUR TIME

 

Think about it. Of all the people who have ever lived, you have been blessed to live in the time during which the Lord Jesus himself will come again and collect his believers to take them with him. You, in fact. are living during the time that is the end of the current human age, the time from Adam’s creation to the return of Jesus to collect his believers. If you are a believer in Jesus, you will go with him when he comes and will miss the terrible seven-year tribulation that follows. At the end of that is a great battle called Armageddon.  An army led by Jesus defeats the evil army opposing him led by the Antichrist. Really, Jesus is the one who defeats the enemy with the sword coming out of his mouth, the word of God.  And thereafter begins a period of 1000 years with the Kingdom of God actually being based in and ruling from Jerusalem.

 

Human history from Adam all the way through the tribulation is about 6000 years. The Millennium that begins after Armageddon is an additional, or 7^th, 1000 years. We really don't know a great deal about that other than again it appears God is giving humans who somehow survive the tribulation and their descendants the opportunity to come to know Jesus and be in the Kingdom.  

 

At the end of this Millennium, the devil, who has been imprisoned in a deep pit, is released for some reason. He goes about gathering up followers (amazing to me there would be anyone like this, but then we see in our day what humans are capable of) and leads another battle against God, during which he is totally defeated and is himself thrown into the lake of fire.

 

Following that, a truly new Jerusalem of enormous dimensions - you might call it the new heaven and earth - comes into being.  God himself as well as Jesus will be based in this new Jerusalem, along with all believers.

 

We really don't know what happens next. Or what happens in the rest of all creation – the universe, the galaxies.  But does that really matter? God will be with us.

 

The difficult and burdensome thing for believers now is the great number of unbelievers on earth, including members of their own families, friends, neighbors, prominent people we see on television and in government or media or entertainment or whatever, that do not know Jesus. It is distressing to realize they will be going through the tribulation and further that they will end up in the dreadful lake of fire unless they change.  Each one of us every day of our lives in the time we have left should ask the Holy Spirit to orchestrate all encounters we should have with others.  Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in all conversations with unbelievers.  We certainly should do our part to share the truths of Jesus, of the gospel. But in the end we must always remember that only God can lead a person to Jesus.  We have that truth given us by Jesus himself.  Certainly we can and should ask God the Father to draw others to Jesus. 

 

From all the Lord has shown me it is apparent his return is very, very, very near. I have written on what he has shown me in so many newsletters and other publications. The February 2022 Newsletter in particular covers the actual timetable for all this which he showed me in a dream/vision. I know this is all challenging. But I know it's all true as well.

 

The best advice? Keep your eyes on Jesus. Stay focused on him. Watch, be alert!  Stay in the right relationship with Jesus so you are ready to go whenever that call comes to meet him in the air.  

 

Pray in the spirit often and on all occasions.  Be specific in your conversations with God.  Talk to God as if you were talking to another person.  You are.  The most important person in your life.  And listen.  Sit and listen.  Or listen when you're walking around and doing other things.  God does answer.  God does speak to his people - sometimes in words, sometimes in dreams and visions, sometimes through other people, sometimes in all sorts of interesting ways.  Remember my telling you all about how God spoke to a Nigerian pastor in a small town in Nigeria about me and told him various things which the pastor then sent to me?  I had never heard of that pastor until he contacted me.

 

Several years ago for about one or two years or so, God would often wake me up in the middle of the night, about two or three or four.  I would go in another room, sit and read the Bible.  At some point the Lord would begin talking to me.  Sometimes it was more a period of guidance and direction.  But other times it was a real conversation back and forth, about important things and also at times incidental things.  That dream/vision I recounted in the February 2022 newsletter was another drastically different way of his communicating to me.

 

Dear friends and partners, fellow believers, yes it is true.  We are living in the last of the last days, the time right before Jesus returns.  In all you do keep your eyes on Jesus.  Stay focused on what counts.  Go about all your necessary activities while always knowing the time you are living in.  He himself said it will be just like the days of Noah and Lot.  People will be going about normal activities and then suddenly…the believers will be gone.  Jesus comes in the air with a shout, a command, and a trumpet blast.  I expect that shout or command will be something like “Come up here!”  The Father and Jesus have used that before – with the two witnesses in Revelation and when Jesus summoned John to come see what was going on in heaven in Revelation.

 

Yes, this is an unpleasant time on earth with all we see taking place.  But you and I know the Lord is coming soon.  The overwhelming majority of people out there don’t know that.

* SIGN OF THE TIMES: IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THIS

 

It had to.  It was the plan all along.

Jesus Christ is returning to the earth very soon to collect his true believers and take them with him.  Shortly thereafter or perhaps even concurrently the seven year Tribulation will begin.  That will be a time of increasing horror and confusion and mayhem on earth.  Think about it.  None of the people left on earth were chosen by Jesus to go with him.  So largely the world will be populated and led by people who are just lost.  Oh, there will surely be some who had some knowledge of Jesus; they will likely start searching earnestly for more information, visiting church and ministry libraries, reading about the Lord and the last days on the Internet.  And at some point many of these come to know the Lord during the Tribulation, for the disciple John sees them in Heaven when he is taken there in Revelation.  I don’t know how they get there.  One likely explanation is being killed by the Antichrist government for their refusal to take the mark the False Prophet requires of anyone who wants to buy or sell.

During that seven years believers will be in heaven.  What are they doing?  We don’t know.  No doubt praising and worshipping Jesus and the Father.  Perhaps meeting past friends and ancestors they never knew.  Maybe being trained for the future?  At some point attending the marriage supper of the Lamb.  And then at the end of the seven years, coming back to earth with Jesus in his army of Holy Ones to fight at Armageddon.  Actually, they don’t do any fighting.  Jesus wins that battle himself by the sword coming out of his mouth.

Way back in the beginning, when Adam walked with God and then God created Eve as his companion, humanity made a fatal step.  Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, the fruit God had warned not to be eaten.  In doing so they and humanity fell away from God, and life on earth entered a “fallen” period.  For hundreds of years, four thousand in fact, life continued like that.  And then God sent his son Jesus to earth to bring the Kingdom of God, to reconcile humanity to himself.  Jesus accomplished that reconciliation by taking your and my sins to the cross and overcoming them, earning God’s forgiveness for us and thus eternity with Jesus and the Father.

But…there is a big requirement here.  A person must recognize Jesus as their Lord in order to be in that Kingdom.  A person in essence must receive that forgiveness and go forward seeking to do God’s will.  It is by grace that we have all been saved, and not by works so that no one can boast.  That is true.  But that salvation does not work for those who never hear about it or never act on it.  And we all know so many in that camp.

We are at the very end of this age.  Remember with God a thousand years is like a day and a day is like a thousand years.  Well, in his time accounting, we have finished six thousand years of human existence and are at the beginning of the seventh thousand.  We have finished six days and are moving into the seventh.  From Adam to now has been six thousand years.  So this all comes to a conclusion of sorts now.  This age ends.  Not the earth.  Not the world.  Not humanity.  No.  At the conclusion of the battle at Armageddon, the Kingdom of God’s rule is set up on earth in Jerusalem, and various of Jesus’ believers occupy positions of authority in that government.

At that point the thousand year millennium begins.  That is the seventh day.  It is at the end of that period that the new heaven and earth come, that God comes to dwell with man in the new Jerusalem described at the end of the book of Revelation.

It all had to eventually reach this point.  This was always the plan.

The Lord spoke to me directly back in 2005 when I was preaching to a group.  Right in my ear I heard “John, tell them who I am and that I am coming soon.” 

Ever since he has periodically shared more about his return, and I have passed on much of that.  There just is not much more time on earth before he comes.  Very little.

It has been astounding to me how small the number who understand and recognize Jesus is coming soon.  The Biblical prophecies of things to happen before his return have happened.  Nothing has to occur before he comes to collect his sheep.  Some things may happen during the Tribulation, like the invasion of Israel by nations to its north or the building of the third temple, but nothing more has to happen now.

I think many people today – including many unbelievers – realize something is highly amiss in our world.  Bizarre things are happening.  Leaders are doing things that do not in any way appear wise.  Groups of people vociferously back positions that are irrational and they really are not open to discussion.  Life is increasingly dangerous on earth. 

But sadly so many churches and church pastors are not teaching and preaching about these days, about Jesus’ return.  Why?  That I don’t fully know.  Some possible answers may be that the pastors themselves do not have a revelation of the return, or that they are afraid of frightening off younger adults who may want their children to have time to grow up, or that the ruling boards of those churches just won’t allow the return to be taught.  In any event, they will have to answer for not preparing their congregations.

Throughout the nation and the world are individuals who do know the truth and who will be going with Jesus.  It is always wonderful to encounter them.  Several of my ministry friends have made the point that where they live there is just no one for them to truly talk with about all this, to share revelations from the Lord.  I have that experience too.  People out there are really lost and unfocused on what really counts.  And the clock just keeps ticking.

* SIGN OF THE TIMES: LONG ENOUGH

 

It has been almost two thousand years since Jesus overcame death and reconciled humanity to God and thus gave the opportunity to all who truly believe in him to become citizens of the Kingdom of God.

 

Two thousand years.

 

Long enough.  That’s what I think.  And quite apparently he and his father think the same thing.

 

In a very short time the Lord will be taking the next step in God’s plan for humanity.  He will come to collect his believers, who will meet him in the air and receive the promised glorious new bodies.  Paul describes this in detail in 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 and in 1 Corinthians 15:51-54.  Jesus is specific about how he sends his angels to come to collect his sheep in these last days of this human age.

 

The seven year terrible Tribulation period will follow during which God pours out his wrath on the world and the evil Anti-Christ seeks to rule a one-world government.  At the end of that period, Jesus and all his holy ones defeat the armies of the world at Armageddon, and then the thousand year period known as the millennium begins with the seat of the physical Kingdom of God based in Jerusalem and Jesus’ believers ruling with him

 

Time is just about up for this current age. 

 

After Jesus soon collects his believers there will still be an opportunity for people to come to Jesus during the seven year Tribulation period, but at a great and difficult physical cost.  These are the great multitude of believers seen in heaven in chapter 7 of Revelation. 

 

And perhaps more people on earth will have the opportunity to come to Jesus during the millennium. At the end of this millennium many on earth amazingly side with the devil to fight against God again.  The devil loses that battle too.

 

But that is all way off.  We are focused right now on the imminent return.  So do what Jesus said in Luke 21:36 - “WATCH!”  Be ready.  And don’t hesitate to go when he gives the command from the clouds.  I expect that command will be “Come Up Here!”, the same thing God says to the two witnesses in Jerusalem in Revelation 11.

 

Don’t let lying, deceiving people all around steal your future and hope, steal your joy.  Keep your eyes on Jesus no matter what.  Do and live the will of Jesus’ father, the will of God.  Have the innocent absolute faith of little children.  And absolutely believe in him.

The only thing that really matters is Jesus and your relationship with him

*SIGN OF THE TIMES: HELPING THOSE LEFT BEHIND

We are right at the end of this human age, as I hope all who read our materials know.  Jesus is soon to come to collect his believers, and the seven year Tribulation will begin.  The majority of people will be left behind on the earth to endure that horror and to try to survive the government of the Antichrist and the terrible actions of the false prophet.  Many do not.

Once Jesus has collected his believers and departed, there will at that moment not be any believers in the Lord living on earth.  Imagine the horror.  But there will surely be those who had thought they were Christians but really had not known the Lord and perhaps had just gone to a church from time to time.  These people especially might realize what they have missed and might search hard for the Lord, going to get videos and books from church and ministry libraries.  And some of them will become the Tribulation saints in Revelation 7:9-17.

Certainly all of us know others who will not be going with Jesus if he were to come right now.  Family, relatives, friends, co-workers, neighbors.  It doesn’t matter how nice people are.  It matters whether they have been born again, born of water and the Spirit as Jesus defined….and whether they truly believe in Jesus.  It matters that they seek to do the will of God and whether they have the faith of little children.

What can you do to help those left behind, regardless of how  much they may or may not have known?  Certainly you can leave out in full public view in your home things that will help.  In our house we have our CD we recorded several years ago, WHERE ARE THEY?, lying out in the living room on a table in full view, along with a copy of our book WAKE UP AMERICA! JESUS IS COMING SOON.  You can get either by going to the store in the menu column on our ministry website homepage or by contacting the ministry.

Also leaving a Bible in view with key sections marked would be a good idea.  Sections surely to include would be 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18; Luke 21, Matthew 24, Mark 13, John 3, Revelation 6 – 20.  There are many more you might pick.

Another key thought would be to leave instructions for people to go to the Return of Jesus Resources page on our ministry website.  (Hopefully ministry sites like ours will be left on the Internet then!).  They can just click on that subject in the menu column on the homepage.  That Return page has all sorts of links and information that would help, links to key writings and to key videos and more.

Another possibility is for you to write and leave in view a letter to anyone explaining in your own words where you have gone and what the reader should do.

It really is true dear friends and partners.  Jesus really is coming soon.  I know just a few years ago probably none of us thought we would be seeing this day so soon, but the time is now here.  It is now.  When the last person that God intends to truly accept Jesus as Lord during this time period does so, Jesus will undoubtedly be here in a flash. 

To the extent possible, share your faith and the truth of the times and Jesus’ return with others.  Ask the Holy Spirit to arrange divine encounters and to guide your conversations with others.  And still remember, only God the Father can draw someone to Jesus.  We can all help in this, but in the end he does the drawing.  Jesus said that himself.

May God bless you and your family as you go forward in these times.  Looking around at all that is happening in our country and elsewhere is surely troubling - other than occasionally seeing a place where a revival has sprung up such as the recent Asbury University example.  Hopefully there will be more before Jesus comes, but the time is short.  Perhaps during the Tribulation itself there will be a great end times revival among some of the people left behind, those Tribulation saints.

* WATCHMAN WARNING: THE OPEN DOOR THAT NO ONE CAN SHUT

  

[the following is almost entirely scripture put together with a few connecting sentences]

 

What Christ opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.  Do not let him say of you as God said of the Israelites that my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.  Stay focused on the Lord and be alert.  In contrast to the lost masses of this generation, follow the steps below.  Remember, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

 

• Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.

 

• Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.

 

• Let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

 

• Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.

 

• Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things

 

• Rejoice always,pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the Spirit.  Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.

 

• God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

 

• Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

There will be terrible times in these last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

 

Watch that you are not deceived.  Many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.

 

Our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

 

Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day [the Day of the Lord] will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction [the Antichrist].  I would say we are well into the rebellion, the falling away from God; the Antichrist though has not yet been revealed.

 

The Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.  We will all be changed.   For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.

 

Remember Jesus’ words on the last page of the Bible:

 

“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.  I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

 

“Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.  Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

 

“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”

 

“Yes, I am coming soon.”

 

Amen.  Come Lord Jesus.

* WATCHMAN WARNING: MY PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE LORD

Jeremiah recorded God’s words above regarding his people in Jeremiah’s day (Jeremiah 8:7).  It surely applies to many in our day.

Yes, there are of course requirements of the Lord, all that guidance God gave regarding how we are to live, all the wisdom and commands Jesus gave regarding life and what humans are to do. 

There are even specific requirements for anyone hoping to be in the Kingdom of God.  Yes there are, even though many have never heard them.  It is certainly true that it is by grace you have been saved and not by works, so that no one can boast.  Paul said that.  Jesus certainly paid the price, a horrible price, for each person to have the opportunity to be saved, to be with him in the Kingdom.  But Jesus said more on the subject of salvation:

• Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit (John 3:5). A person must be born anew, or born again.  They must be washed clean of all sin and receive a new spirit; in essence, God himself becomes their father.  This is the transformative moment in the life of a believer in Jesus.  I know this  can be difficult to understand.  Perhaps a great scripture that helps is this scripture from Ezekiel in which God is talking about returning the exiled Israelites to their home, the ingathering of the Jews:    “I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” (Ezekiel 36:25-27)

• Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven (Matthew 7:21). A person must do the will of Jesus’ father in Heaven; they must do God’s will (not their own independent will.).

• Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it (Mark 10:15). A person must be like little children in their faith; i.e., their faith must be innocent and absolute just like the way little children believe their parents.

• For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16). As I have said before, this word translated believes here is absolute belief – for example, you believe there is enough oxygen in the room where you are now to keep you alive or else you would be running out.  That kind of absolute belief.

Elsewhere in many other verses Jesus talks about specific behaviors and actions of people that will keep them out of the Kingdom.  I’ve written about these before.  Here is a specific list that Jesus covers from Revelation 22:15:

• Living a homosexual lifestyle; said another way, living a deviant or sexually immoral lifestyle. I list this first because it is so obvious in our modern society. God considers homosexuality an abomination.  There are many different scriptures pointing this out, and there is no reason for anyone to miss the message unless they intentionally just don’t want  to believe.  Here are some key scriptures: Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 22:13, Romans 1:18-32, 1 Timothy 1:9-10, 1 Corinthian 6:9-10, and Revelation 22:15. So the LGBTQ movement is an eternal sentence to hell for its members.   
• As a general overall comment on deviant sexual lifestyle, Jesus says in the last page of the Bible that the sexually immoral will be outside that Kingdom. There is even a scripture in Deuteronomy 22:5 where God describes a man’s dressing as a woman or a woman as a man as an abomination.
• Another specific behavior keeping people out of the Kingdom is practicing falsehood. Liars in other words.  Perpetual liars.  Habitual liars.  Out government is full of those, even at the very top.  So too the media.  You know that.  Well, there is a cost to such behavior, an eternal cost, the greatest cost imaginable. 
• Idolaters will not be in the Kingdom either. Idolaters of course are people who put other things at the top of their priority list above God, like getting more and more money and more and more power as so many of our corporate top executives and highly wealthy elite seem to live today (and some of the top politicians as well.).
• Those who practice magic arts are also excluded from the Kingdom. Those are people who practice all sorts of bizarre actions to influence and control others.   Another translation is sorcery.
• Jesus also says dogs are excluded, meaning ungodly people with impure minds exercising immoral ways. That is a hard word for us to understand, but that is what it means.
• Murderers too are excluded from the Kingdom.

Of course, those who are simply not believers, who do not fulfill the points I listed earlier that Jesus said are necessary to be in the Kingdom, will be excluded.  So I expect that in addition to all true atheists and agnostics and followers of false religions like Islam and Buddhism and such, many of those who attend those lost and dry churches on Sunday mornings will be left out as well. 

Today how many of those who say they are Christians understand at all the requirements of the Lord and live in them?  How many?  How often do you hear of any churches teaching any of this?  For that matter, notice how so many churches never teach or operate in the Holy Spirit and his gifts.  Or teach of the imminent returning of the Lord or the fullness of the gospel and all God has for us or the authority we have in Jesus.  It is a power gospel, and Jesus’ believers realize that and live in it.

Well, soon the Lord is returning.   Really really soon.  Keep your eyes on him.  Above everything else, keep your focus on Jesus.  “Watch” was his command at the end of his remarks about his return.  “Watch!”

Stay in the  right relationship with him.  Don’t drift away.  Don’t backslide.

One further point - we know from Paul that having the Holy Spirit is in fact a guarantee of our salvation, like a stamp of approval or badge.  Something to be devoutly sought and possessed.  Does the Bible say that?  Yes it does:  ¹³ And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, ¹⁴ who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. – (Ephesians 1:13-14)

That seal is a wonderful thing to have, surely!  And the Holy Spirit and his gifts are an invaluable guide through life.

Certainly if God was troubled that his people in Jeremiah’s day did not know his requirements, I expect he is troubled today by so many not knowing his requirements.  The difference is that we are living at the very end of this age.  It is not the Babylonians coming to take people off to their land.  It is Jesus coming to take his people off to be with him, and then it is the beginning of the terrible Tribulation for those left behind. 

Everyone who knows the Lord, WATCH!  BE READY! 

And everyone who does not know or is not sure that they are saved, get serious about it.  Ask Jesus to be the Lord of your life.  Ask him to forgive your sins.   And seek to receive the Holy Spirit too.  Find a Spirit-filled believer if you can to pray for you to receive the Spirit. Or if you can’t find such a person, just ask the Holy Spirit to come to you in power.  Guidance by the Holy Spirit is a great benefit in these times.  

Let me just say, we are not living in a time of discussion and conjecture about Jesus and some future return.    This is the real deal now.  A dividing line is being finalized, between those who truly believe and know Jesus and those who don’t.   The imminent return is close at hand.
