* SIGN OF THE TIMES: THE INCREASING HEAVINESS OF OUR DAY FOR TRUE BELIEVERS (DESPITE ALL THE JOY WE HAVE)

 

There is an increasing heaviness to my life that I haven’t been able to shake.

 

It’s not depression.  It is a heaviness, an increasing sadness.  It is real and it is here.  Despite my great joy at knowing Jesus, at having the Kingdom of God inside me.  Despite all I know about that future.

 

At times walking down the street or sitting quietly or hearing of an event or seeing a report, sometimes I am moved to tears.  It is a sadness that grips my inner being, my heart, my soul.  I have no doubt I am sharing in the sadness the Holy Spirit is feeling.

 

It is a sadness of seeing what is happening all around: Seeing lost people play out the charade of their existence.  Seeing their sincere and misguided goals and hopes. Seeing Europe crater.  Seeing America apparently coming apart at the seams, relentlessly attacked by unbelievers in the Lord who cloak themselves as reporters, congressmen, college professors and students, bureaucrats, even violent rioters, lemmings all who are following the pied piper of evil right over the cliff and trying to take one of the grandest of human achievements with them.

 

What will be here when the Lord returns?

 

Remember, in truth, it really doesn’t matter so long as you really know Jesus and are ready to go with him.  What happens around you is just so much filler of time and space…that is, except for the people you see caught up in all this evil, no doubt some close to you that you wish knew the Lord, knew the truth.

 

How are we to go on?  Well, we know the Lord.  We do know truth.  We will be here when Jesus comes unless we have already gone to join him.  Our eyes should and must be on him.  Our hopes and our future are all in him.

 

There is nothing wrong or strange about suddenly feeling sad these days; about needing a moment to compose yourself.  We really are in the last days.  It is difficult watching organizations and institutions  we have held dear in our lives crumbling and falling apart, losing their focus.  It is really hard watching people in key positions calling good evil and evil good.

 

And it is difficult seeing so many churches and the people going there on weekends thinking they are doing what they are supposed to, churches that are not teaching about the imminent return of the Lord, churches that don’t teach about how the Holy Spirit is for each of us right now today with all his gifts, churches that don’t even teach the need to be born again.

 

In this time and seeing all the confusion and evil that is evident everywhere, no doubt we all feel called upon to do more and more to help others know the Lord, to know the truth.  And this is surely what we should be doing, part of Jesus’ assignment to all believers in his Great Commission at the end of Mark.  So we go forward asking the Holy Spirit to arrange divine encounters, to guide us in our efforts.  And still as we intend to do all we can we have the heaviness of realizing just how many don’t know the truth of the gospel.  And we have the heaviness of realizing just how many apparently don’t really want to hear or know the truth. 

 

The overwhelming majority of people do not know.  We who are looking forward to the imminent return of the Lord truly are a remnant; hopefully, a growing remnant, but still a remnant.  It was always thus.  Jesus himself explained how hard it is for people:

 

….wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. – Matthew 7:13-14

 

For all believers who strive to do the Lord’s work, to be his follower, there is of course the great cost of following him.  So many – even close relatives and friends – may look with disdain on your faith and your activities and priorities.  I know Cathy and I have on many fronts seen a separation from others who at times were friends and from some relatives and family members who just cannot understand what we are about or are scared by it all.

 

But for us and for you, there is the great internal joy of knowing the truth.  We know the end of the book.  We live every day with the great assurance from Jesus that he is never going to lose us.  And we seek always to go forward in the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

* SIGN OF THE TIMES: LONG ENOUGH

 

It has been almost two thousand years since Jesus overcame death and reconciled humanity to God and thus gave the opportunity to all who truly believe in him to become citizens of the Kingdom of God.

 

Two thousand years.

 

Long enough.  That’s what I think.  And quite apparently he and his father think the same thing.

 

In a very short time the Lord will be taking the next step in God’s plan for humanity.  He will come to collect his believers, who will meet him in the air and receive the promised glorious new bodies.  Paul describes this in detail in 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 and in 1 Corinthians 15:51-54.  Jesus is specific about how he sends his angels to come to collect his sheep in these last days of this human age.

 

The seven year terrible Tribulation period will follow during which God pours out his wrath on the world and the evil Anti-Christ seeks to rule a one-world government.  At the end of that period, Jesus and all his holy ones defeat the armies of the world at Armageddon, and then the thousand year period known as the millennium begins with the seat of the physical Kingdom of God based in Jerusalem and Jesus’ believers ruling with him

 

Time is just about up for this current age. 

 

After Jesus soon collects his believers there will still be an opportunity for people to come to Jesus during the seven year Tribulation period, but at a great and difficult physical cost.  These are the great multitude of believers seen in heaven in chapter 7 of Revelation. 

 

And perhaps more people on earth will have the opportunity to come to Jesus during the millennium. At the end of this millennium many on earth amazingly side with the devil to fight against God again.  The devil loses that battle too.

 

But that is all way off.  We are focused right now on the imminent return.  So do what Jesus said in Luke 21:36 - “WATCH!”  Be ready.  And don’t hesitate to go when he gives the command from the clouds.  I expect that command will be “Come Up Here!”, the same thing God says to the two witnesses in Jerusalem in Revelation 11.

 

Don’t let lying, deceiving people all around steal your future and hope, steal your joy.  Keep your eyes on Jesus no matter what.  Do and live the will of Jesus’ father, the will of God.  Have the innocent absolute faith of little children.  And absolutely believe in him.

 

Remember:

 

The only thing that really matters is Jesus and your relationship with him

* WATCHMAN WARNING: TODAY'S ATTROCIOUS WORLD SYSTEM

  

Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter. – Isaiah 5:20

 

That is our world today.  These scriptures are fulfilled greatly in our time.  And God has more to say on this point:

 

²¹ Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
and clever in their own sight.

 

^…
23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe,
but deny justice to the innocent.

 

Sounds like people we know…leaders of this age, politicians, media giants, entertainment leaders, business leaders. 

 

When, believers ask, will the people wake up.  When will they begin to speak out, to challenge the insanity and the evil of the current age?

 

That, I do not know.  I think hopefully more and more will challenge and speak out as we near the Lord’s return.  Even if things are in great disarray and evil is everywhere when he comes back, hopefully he will find his believers still standing up for him and truth, representing him every chance possible.

 

These are horrible, morally atrocious days.  Truth and honesty and rational thinking have disappeared.

 

You probably read recently of a female college swim meet where a physical male who considers himself a female won events for the University of Pennsylvania while a similar male from Yale University who considers himself a female was among those competing against him.  True physical women cannot compete physically against true physical males.  All those women’s groups that fought for sports equality for women and for funding for women’s sports, why are they so silent now?  Everything they fought for is being destroyed. 

 

An Indiana insurance company CEO reported that deaths of clients it covers in the prime 18-64 year old range increased by 40% in 2021!  That is catastrophic!  It is unheard of in the history of the insurance business.  And these deaths are not from covid.  No, other sources.  I suggest how about stress, heart attacks, cancer, illegal drugs, and other terrible things exacerbated by an unthinking government and a medical establishment that focused almost exclusively on covid.

 

A Harvard educator just spoke out about the tens of thousands of abuse incidents against children that went unreported during the lockdown because – you get it – the schools were not open and the teachers were not there to see or hear or recognize the assaults and report them.

 

The list of astounding and shocking things never ends!

 

The sales price of homes in the country is skyrocketing, as people interested in buying or selling should know.  Soon it will be really difficult for many to buy a home.  I had thought that perhaps all those trapped in small homes and apartments during the lockdown had decided never again and were out there trying to get bigger places to live.  That might still be true but get this:  It has now been reported that investment firms are buying about 20% of these homes at significant prices – and thus in the reselling they are really driving up the prices. 

 

The Rockefeller Foundation has just released a report called “Reset the Table,” and it calls for a global central government to control the world’s food supply.  You don’t have to be a genius to see the implications for all.  Just more of the one-world planning.

 

Cruise ships continue to leave port with all passengers and crew vaccinated, yet almost immediately covid breaks out on the ship and ports do not allow the ships to enter.  This happened recently on a cruise to Mexico and one to the Caribbean. 

 

The new DA for Manhattan has announced a plan to be very soft on criminal offenders in all but the most serious crimes.  For example an armed robber can expect not to be prosecuted.  So you could walk on the streets of NY City, be robbed by someone sticking a gun in your side, and realize that he will never be prosecuted.  The DA has been surprised to hear that some people are upset by his policies!

 

The approach of this DA, like those of Los Angeles and other West Coast cities, are apparently funded by the mysterious billionaire George Soros.  We all have to wonder how they ever get elected, but then we really know:  many voters do not pay great attention to what candidates actually plan to do and are just influenced by ads and such.

 

Except for a few public demonstrations, most people in America and apparently in other countries who recognize or are terrified of what is happening just remain at home terrified.  A few have spoken out – the parents of children being terribly misled in schools by teaching and promotion of transgenderism and critical race theory are now challenging school boards.  Apparently attacking the children has finally waked up a few parents.  But did you notice how the federal government in the Justice Department established plans to begin investigating such parents who stand up and speak out at School Board meetings?   Doesn’t sound like America does it?  Well, this is not America today.  It is a new world, and not a nice one.

 

We are steadily moving toward the Lord’s return.  He did warn us of how terrible the times would be.  To the extent you can and the Holy Spirit leads, we should all be doing whatever we can to help the Father lead others to a saving knowledge of Jesus.

 

There are massively misled millions and billions out there in the world.  Lost people.  You know the truth.  Keep your eyes on Jesus.  Stay focused.  Read the Bible.  Try to be around other true believers.  And always seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  He leads us in all truth, Jesus said.  He tells us of things to come.

 

By the way, some of those doing all the misleading are in the religious world.  So many churches do not teach of the imminent return of the Lord, nor do they apparently even point out the great evils of our day.  I just noted a piece by one who believes there is no rapture, that there will just be a giant spiritual awakening on earth and that awakening is the return of Christ.  No, that is not it.  Just as it is not true that all people go to Heaven.  Some think that as well.  You must be alert and protect yourself and your family from falsehood.  Be ready for almost any bizarre statements or actions.  These are the last days.  And if you are a true believer, Jesus is not going to lose you.

 

Remember, his very first warning is to watch out that you are not deceived!  At the very end of that chapter - Luke 21 - he gives his ultimate advice:  Watch …and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.  He wants you to be ready and alert to his coming.  And in the right relationship with him, not distracted by something else.

 

So always, always do what we always say:  KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS!

* WATCHMAN WARNING: WATCH!

 

Watch out that you are not deceived. – Luke 21:8

 

…many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. – Matthew 24:11

 

 

 

These warnings above are words spoken by Jesus Christ!  Words of warning to you and to me, for right now, the time we are living in, the last days before the return of Jesus Christ.  We are living in a time of deception and false prophets. 

 

Again, like a repeat of a bad television program, we are seeing more frightening and controlling behavior from the increasingly autocratic group that now runs this country and society.  As I write this the CDC and various other branches of government are moving forward with recommending and imposing mask mandates, even though a large portion of society now has the vaccines, even though the death rate from covid is still now a small fraction of what it was a few months ago and is many times less than major diseases like heart disease and cancer. 

 

These people who have taken over the national government and many of the so-called progressive states and cities, are moving once again to apparently further subjugate the American people.  You should have noticed in the news the last few days this growing pressure to put into place again a mask mandate on the people, including those who are vaccinated.  Some places have already done that.

 

Why?

 

The stated reason has to do with the Delta variant and that people unvaccinated are at real risk.  But as I just noted the level of impact of covid in the USA now is really low, even including this variant.  And indeed all the people who have been vaccinated now are highly protected against this disease.  Even if they were to catch it – and there is a low chance – they would in all probability just have a mild case. 

 

This current sudden increase in covid cases is evidently due to the more contagious delta variant being caught by those unvaccinated, primarily in five states where the vaccination rate is low indeed.  The overwhelming number of persons in hospitals or dying from covid these days are unvaccinated people.

 

Covid is a serious deadly disease but it is just not a great risk in America any longer.  Yes, it is still true, people with preexisting conditions, older senior citizens, seriously overweight persons, all these especially if they don’t have the vaccination are at risk of problems if they catch the disease.  But not the bulk of the population.  Covid has almost become just another risk of life today, like heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, car accidents, and violent assault and other crime.

 

Regardless of what you think of the vaccination, and there are many opinions on this, it is clear that it has had a dramatic impact in stopping and slowing down the disease. 

 

There is no obvious reason for vaccinated people to suddenly have to wear masks, other than that the current autocratic leaders are getting concerned the people are speaking up more and more objecting to their policies – objecting very visibly and vocally to things like critical race theory being taught in the schools and in the military, the extraordinary rise in crime, and inane requirements that children wear masks in school. 

 

So one way to slow down this growing opposition to the far-out policies of the progressive/woke/cancel culture gang is for them to impose mask restrictions.  Certainly we all just lived through a period where it was obvious that wearing masks, not seeing each other’s faces or frowns or smiles, along with the social distancing and other measures led to really muting society, diminishing open expression, reducing the joy of life for so many.  

 

We are having in America a real growth of dictatorial types who want to tell people how to live and how to run the country.  They are far afield from those who struggled to bring about the greatest free country on earth.  They have no understanding that there is no way ever to legislate true equality of status, income, jobs, talent, abilities, etc.  But we can provide equality of opportunities, and America has done that better than any society in the history of the world for many years.

 

These people who consistently want to tell all of us how to live according to their human rules are quite apparently just not godly people.  That is obvious from their views, from their vocabularies, from their actions.  Sadly, today America is a land with many ungodly people in the top positions of government and business and media and entertainment.  And sadly, many who should be boldly standing up for the Lord, for the gospel, for God in our world are meek and mum and staying away from the fight.  Many church pastors do not teach we are near the end of the age and near the Lord’s return nor do they teach the full gospel.

 

The country and world are full of people living and acting like sheep, obeying whatever the increasingly autocratic rulers dictate.  But there is one group of sheep that has the Lord as their leader.  They hear his voice.  It is time for this group - the Lord’s sheep - to behave like the Lord’s followers, like they have faith.  They must stand up for him in every situation in which they find themselves and as guided by the Holy Spirit.  That is tough to be sure but it is their role. 

 

The only reason the Lord has not come yet to collect his sheep must be that a few of his elect – those God chose to be in him before the creation of the world - have not yet heard clearly of the gospel and the Lord.  Hard to believe I know.  Likely just a few.  But if all had heard, I expect Jesus would already have been here. 

 

So we keep telling others and sharing as we can and as there are opportunities.  And we await the Lord’s imminent return alert, eyes wide open, ready, never misled by the deceived and lost souls running the country and many other governments and entities.

 

Read the scriptures at the top again! And Watch!
