* SIGN OF THE TIMES: LONG ENOUGH

 

It has been almost two thousand years since Jesus overcame death and reconciled humanity to God and thus gave the opportunity to all who truly believe in him to become citizens of the Kingdom of God.

 

Two thousand years.

 

Long enough.  That’s what I think.  And quite apparently he and his father think the same thing.

 

In a very short time the Lord will be taking the next step in God’s plan for humanity.  He will come to collect his believers, who will meet him in the air and receive the promised glorious new bodies.  Paul describes this in detail in 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 and in 1 Corinthians 15:51-54.  Jesus is specific about how he sends his angels to come to collect his sheep in these last days of this human age.

 

The seven year terrible Tribulation period will follow during which God pours out his wrath on the world and the evil Anti-Christ seeks to rule a one-world government.  At the end of that period, Jesus and all his holy ones defeat the armies of the world at Armageddon, and then the thousand year period known as the millennium begins with the seat of the physical Kingdom of God based in Jerusalem and Jesus’ believers ruling with him

 

Time is just about up for this current age. 

 

After Jesus soon collects his believers there will still be an opportunity for people to come to Jesus during the seven year Tribulation period, but at a great and difficult physical cost.  These are the great multitude of believers seen in heaven in chapter 7 of Revelation. 

 

And perhaps more people on earth will have the opportunity to come to Jesus during the millennium. At the end of this millennium many on earth amazingly side with the devil to fight against God again.  The devil loses that battle too.

 

But that is all way off.  We are focused right now on the imminent return.  So do what Jesus said in Luke 21:36 - “WATCH!”  Be ready.  And don’t hesitate to go when he gives the command from the clouds.  I expect that command will be “Come Up Here!”, the same thing God says to the two witnesses in Jerusalem in Revelation 11.

 

Don’t let lying, deceiving people all around steal your future and hope, steal your joy.  Keep your eyes on Jesus no matter what.  Do and live the will of Jesus’ father, the will of God.  Have the innocent absolute faith of little children.  And absolutely believe in him.

 

Remember:

 

The only thing that really matters is Jesus and your relationship with him

* A WATCHMAN WARNING - WHERE IS THAT AWAKENING?

It’s time.  If we are to have that end times revival there has been so much talk about for so long, we need to get going.

 

Time is indeed running out.  The Lord indeed is coming soon.

 

Surely you can now see in the daily actions of so many famous and regular everyday people that a great number is just lost.  Look at the news.  Listen to the words of people.  Lost.  Lost.  Lost.

 

Most people as you can clearly see do not truly know the Lord and will not be going with him when he comes to collect his sheep – not unless something changes.

 

Jesus himself made the point it is a “few” who find the narrow road to life.  A “few.”  I looked up the word translated “few” in the original Greek, at least as close as I could get to that.  It does indeed mean few.

 

Still, we can work to help in God’s leading more and more to a saving knowledge of Jesus, so that few can be as big a number as possible. We are the people God can use to make some changes.

 

Just think for a minute.  Be quiet in the presence of God and think.  All the people you know.  With the ability and discernment God has given you, how many can you truly say will be going with the Lord when he returns? How many are truly born anew, filled with and baptized with the Holy Spirit (Paul says the Holy Spirit is a guarantee of our salvation, like a mark of guarantee)?  Ask the Holy Spirit to show you.

 

I know we can’t see into anyone to the extent the Lord can.  I know we can’t truly determine specifically each person’s current fate.

 

But we surely can come close if we are true believers and utilize that great gift of discernment.

 

And we most surely can discern persons who do not live in any way as if Jesus is their Lord, as if they have been born again, as if they are true believers.

 

So what are we going to do to help in God’s leading others to Jesus?

 

Get the gospel message out to as many as we can as the Holy Spirit guides.  Ask the Spirit to orchestrate occasions, encounters, meetings, so that we might have effective discussions on Jesus and the gospel with others.

 

For those that seem so closed or distant, get them material.  Send them our WAKE UP AMERICA book for example, or maybe some of our appropriate CDs.  Just think – if they never come to know Jesus before he comes to collect his sheep, they very well may turn to read this book or listen to CDs after that happens and they find themselves in the Tribulation. 

 

If you have a truly effective church meeting, take others with you if they will go.

 

Get a group of believers together in person or online to pray regularly for the lost – by name as possible – and also to pray for an end times revival.

 

And don’t be so concerned about offending someone.  Remember the Lord’s words about blessed are those who are not offended at me?

 

I cannot tell you the number of times over the years that the Lord has said to me “What does it matter what other people think?”  That’s a hard one for all of us who want to get along with others and especially our family members and friends.  But if you do not do something to help them, maybe no one will.  Maybe you are where you are for this purpose. 

 

The Lord Jesus has said we can do the same things he did, even greater.  So aside from all the things you can think you might do, helping in God’s leading people to be born again, to accept Jesus as Lord is surely a great thing.

 

Remember Jesus said no one can come to him unless the Father draws that person to Jesus.  A good prayer always is to ask Father God to draw some specific person to a saving knowledge of Jesus.

* SIGN OF THE TIMES: WAKING UP TO A SHOCKING REALITY

I have been trying to think of what to write and say about all that has happened in recent days.  It has been difficult.  I think the recent months and especially the past week or so have been the worst I have seen in this country in my lifetime.

What makes it the worst?  The terrible disease?  No, we have had bad diseases before.  Well, what then?  The murder of that man in Minneapolis by a police officer?  No, although horrible, we have sadly seen that before.

Well, what then?                                                                                                                                                 
I think it is the abject failure of those elected to leadership positions in this country to protect the citizens of the country and preserve the basic rights and liberties of the people.  I think it is the shocking recognition by all of us that they really weren’t going to do anything to stop the violence, that we have some really terrible governors and mayors who just do not understand some essential things.

We have now seen many such leaders clearly not being able to differentiate good from evil, right from wrong.  In the coronavirus we saw many – including the whole national government – overreact and suppress the people, taking away basic rights.  Now some governors have moved to restore freedoms  while others seem to delight in holding the people down where there is no cause.

And in these past few days we have discovered many of these leaders do not understand the first responsibility of any of them is to protect the citizens and their property.  While pretending to be empathetic in a horrible situation, they turned the streets of the cities over to violent, evil, horrible thugs and felons to destroy and beat up and create general mayhem.  Stores destroyed.  Famous stores and little stores of individuals who worked their lives to have a business.  People beaten horribly – men, women, police.  People killed.  Monuments that mean a lot to the nation defaced – like the Lincoln Memorial and the WWII monument.

Peaceful protests are absolutely fine and represent an expression of the freedoms that come with being an American.  Horrible violence is not fine and represents flat out evil being acted out in harm to others.

The failure of leadership by the governors in many states and the mayors in many cities should create shivers down the spines of all citizens.  This shows America that we have the wrong people in positions of authority.  We should have known that.  We do now.  Most of the lack of response and understanding of what to do came from liberal governors and mayors who just couldn’t bring themselves to act.  Or didn’t have any idea what executive decision-making means.  And then the horrible violence which hid under the pretense of legitimate protests was supported by so many of the awful wealthy know-nothing Hollywood entertainers and liberal news media.

And too we cannot fail to note the national government did little either other than to give speeches and offer to send troops if the local leaders requested.  Surely there must have been more they could have done.

Surely all law-abiding Americans who know the Lord have seen enough of the news media and the Hollywood entertainers to last a lifetime.  We don’t need to see them anymore, do we?

But what is the country to do when its leaders will not enforce its laws, when there is no accountability for violence?  (What did the country expect when areas began to release prisoners or not even to hold felons arrested by police who were immediately released by the local magistrates?)

As you and I know, all this fits in the various prophecies for life in the last days before the Lord’s return.  The general increase in lawlessness.  The falling away from God.  Still, it is sickening to live through.

I have not written of other things going on simultaneously that perhaps you should know of.  There have been many earthquakes in key places.  Just two days ago a fairly strong one in southern California and a very very strong one in northern Chile.  In the days preceding, there have been many strong earthquakes, from New Zealand to Idaho.  Pretty alarming.

And of course those locusts keep attacking parts of the world.

The countries of the world today live in various states of fear, being locked down by governments that just do not know what to do.

You know the time is near for the Lord’s return.  Still, no Antichrist has appeared or been identified.  Still, no peace agreement has been signed with Israel that will begin the seven year Tribulation.  So there seems to be some time left.  Things don’t look good, do they, for the quality of life on earth.  The simple answer is no they don’t.

Keep your eyes on Jesus, as always.  Pray for God’s mercy for the United States and the world.  Pray for wise and skillful believers to be elected to positions of leaders in the states and cities.  And pray that the American citizens have now waked up to the dreadful quality of so many of those in “leadership” positions in this country.

* SIGN OF THE TIMES: QUICK POINTS YOU CAN USE

Quick bold points taken from the world around that make the case of where we are in time.  There are lots of things we have said and could say about the imminent return of Jesus, but you might use these points below taken right out of the daily news to get the attention of some who have so far been asleep or are not alert to what is happening.
Just from this list alone it is very apparent something very big is about to happen.

• Reported from Israel: top rabbis are afraid to leave the country because they do not want to miss the coming of the Messiah (Israel Today).

• One very top Israeli rabbi has pointedly just said the Messiah is coming soon and that he has been in communication with the Messiah (Breaking Israeli News; Israel Today).

• In Brazil a gigantic Christian meeting referred to as the Send Conference was recently held in three stadiums – 140,000 attending in all. Note the name:     Tens of thousands there adopted various mission fields.  I’ve heard the number was 70,000.  Sending forth of believers to the world.  Think that might be part of the last days effort of God to get the people into his Kingdom that have not yet come to Jesus, those elect who haven’t yet realized who they are? (Fox News)

• Billions of locusts have been ravaging East Africa. Now there are similar reports of locusts moving into Yemen, Pakistan, Iran, India, and even China.  (CBN)

• Coronavirus – a potential pestilence and all that entails, and other disasters like multiple earthquakes are the stuff of our daily world news. You may not see the reports of the earthquakes, but they are always indeed happening.  There are daily many many small earthquakes in the world.  But in just the last month there have been several major ones, like the one Sunday in Turkey and Iran, the one earlier in the month in Japan, the one between Cuba and Jamaica that even provoked evacuations in Miami, one in the Solomon Islands, and another in Turkey.   All of this is in line with prophecies of the last days. 

• The serious effort to get a real peace plan signed between Israel and the Palestinians continues. Obviously this has not yet happened, but the “deal of the century” recently put forward by the US government and surprisingly favorably received by some Arab nations is a clear indication we are getting close.  Looking at Daniel 9:27 and Ezekiel 38-39, the plan the Israelites sign must evidently give them a sense of true peace since they move to living in unwalled villages - e.g., no protection.  (The signing of an agreement which accomplishes this will be the final straw, and the Tribulation will begin.)

And then we have this very disturbing and sad point:  According to a study by Lifeway, 98% of the churches in America do not talk about the return.  We’ve written a great deal about that haven’t we.  Somehow, for whatever reason, the churches are asleep.  Unless things change dramatically, we are going to have a lot of shocked people on earth.

* A WATCHMAN WARNING: HOW LONG?

At the end of last week the new Congresswoman Alexandria Occasio-Cortez introduced a GREEN NEW DEAL for America.  It was met by gasps and shocks and also laughter.  One Wall Street Journal reporter said she was laughing so hard she nearly cried and that the proposal looked like a parody of the Democratic Party by the Republican Party.
But here is the truth.  The astounding proposal that has as its objectives the elimination of all fossil fuels in ten years, the replacement or upgrading of all buildings in America, guaranteed compensation for all in America even those unwilling to work, the end of air transportation, and so much more is not a laughing matter.
Here should be our reaction:

• Shock and great concern that a member of Congress would introduce such a plan so devoid of rational thought or understanding of key issues
• Shock and great concern that a Senator from Massachusetts and three announced candidates for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020 would immediately back this plan. In fact now it appears more Democratic candidates for president are on-board as supporters.                                 
• Shock but eventual recognition of how far evil has gone in deceiving so many in America.
• Recognition that normal discussions and rationally developed responses to issues of the day are likely not going to be the norm in this nation anymore.

How long have I been writing and publishing the great scripture “…the god of this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers?”  Well?  Think this is a good example?  If I were writing WAKE UP AMERICA! now, this would absolutely be in the chapter on deception.

Just what kind of people do we have in Congress these days?  Just what kind of people do we have in America?  What kind of people elect these lost people who are putting forward such inane and even truly evil proposals that if enacted would be the death knell of the country and the extraordinary freedoms Americans have enjoyed?

And how long will it be before the Lord comes?

* BEING THE WEATHERMAN

^…“When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.”… – (Jesus speaking, Matthew 16:2-4 NIV)

In our modern America people watch weathermen all the time.  On local news programs, the weatherman occupies a huge proportion of the broadcasts.  Even if it is just to hear the temperatures and the forecast that the weather will be mild or may rain a bit, people are fixated on the weather.  These weathermen are not precisely accurate as we all know, but they generally are in the ballpark.  They do give a decent picture of what is coming the next day or two.  Of course, many normal people not weathermen can do that too, usually just by looking outside, or by looking at a map of isobars and isotherms.  They know the signs to look for.

So it was in Jesus’ day.  People could discern the immediate weather and what might happen the next day or so.  People had the ability to comment on the future as far as weather was concerned.

But notice – Jesus chastised the people for their inability to discern the times, to understand what of great significance was happening around them.  What was that?  God was in their midst as a human being.  They were getting teaching straight from God.  Miracles were happening.  And this Son of God was about to reconcile humanity to God.  But the bulk of the people could not see.  A few could a bit – Nicodemus, Joseph of Arimathea, the disciples eventually, a few others.

Notice Jesus’ phrasing: a wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign, but none other than the sign of Jonah will be given to it.  The mass of the people just could not see and understand.

And here we are today.  The time of the return of the Lord.  The bulk of humanity does not know nor recognize nor understand this.  The signs given are numerous – the fulfilled Biblical prophecies.  True believers whose spiritual eyes and minds are open see and realize and understand.  But today’s wicked and adulterous generation cannot see.  They can’t recognize the signs.  At all.

In past healing services and ministry programs I used to be amazed at how the Holy Spirit would come with such great power, touching so many so dramatically, and there would be wonderful healings.  People would sometimes even return to stand up and testify to the healings.  And I always wondered why didn’t everyone present run home and get all their neighbors and relatives and especially the sick and bring them back to the next program to receive and be healed.  But they didn’t.  Few indeed took that approach.  Only one time in an inner city area did we see this really - while leading a healing service we discovered a woman in the back calling everyone she knew and telling them to get down to the church right now.  She knew and saw what was happening.

But a wicked and adulterous generation does not.  Another way of saying that is that most people today - even those people who attend churches but are not serious spirit-led believers who know the Word and have the gift of discernment - do not understand and see.  They can’t grasp what is happening right before their eyes.

And now we are in the season of the Lord’s return.  It is imminent indeed.  Our coming new book WAKE UP AMERICA! is all about that.  The remarks of Anne Graham Lotz at her father’s funeral were all about that.

We started this talking about weathermen.  I am a real weatherman of this generation.  There are others, but not many I have discovered these past many years.  And I give you the forecast that truly matters.  Rather than temperature and pressure and rain forecasts, I give you Biblical prophecies fulfilled and interpretation of events and the assessment of just where we are and what is coming.  It’s a bit more important that the physical weather.  In Ezekiel God had another term for this weatherman role I have: he called it a watchman.

Many people do not want to hear my weather forecast.  A wicked and adulterous generation does not want to hear.  Ah, but the Nicodemuses and Joseph of Arimatheas and Peters and Pauls and others do and will.

It really is a remnant that is going with the Lord when he returns so very soon.  Narrow is the road that leads to life and few are they who find it.  Jesus said that (Matthew 7:14).  Not a lot of traffic on that road even today.  Hopefully there will be more.

* LAST DAYS BATTLE FOR THE SOUL OF AMERICA

In the last couple years many people who inhabit New York City, Washington DC, Hollywood, and the government, entertainment, and media world have been shocked to encounter this truth:  There is a real country out there in the rest of the United States.  In fact, that is where the real country lives.  And that country has had it with the government of the nation, with the extreme liberal elites, with the career politicians in both parties that forgot why they are elected in the first place, with the government bureaucrats who earn high salaries in safe jobs in an ever increasing number, and with the entertainment and media world that in no way represent their views.

These people from primarily New York City, Washington DC, Hollywood,  and the government, entertainment, and media world have been unable to conceive that they do not represent the people of the United States, that their interests are not that of the country, and that the people of the United States do not agree with their views,.  They persist in pressing on.  Many national media on television and in elite newspapers such as the NY Times and the Washington Post tirelessly present their stories and editorials as if they represent the country.  But they do not.

The people of the United States - the mainstream Americans who built the country and keep it running and defend it in wars and are shocked to see their culture and faith and beliefs so attacked - have now finally realized the power they have.  They have once again discovered the wisdom of the founding fathers.  They can throw the rascals out, and they have.  Every day more of the rascals and their views are gone.  Frequently another of the torturous, really illegal and inappropriate executive actions of the past is erased.  Every day past actions to take America down, to reduce it to the level of the world’s countries, to bring in European socialism, are removed.  Every day efforts are taken to return the nation to a land of law and order rather than a land where all sorts of unsatisfactory behavior and beliefs are not only tolerated but even promoted.

We are truly living in the last of the last days, the time so very close to the return of the Lord.  In this time we know from Scripture how things get tougher, how things get more and more confused and difficult.  Jesus himself gave as his first warning of this time in Mark 13, Matthew 24, and Luke 21 to “watch that you are not deceived.”  He also talked about false prophets.  Paul points out in 2 Thessalonians 2 how in these times God sends delusion to all these lost people who do not believe the truth but have delighted in wickedness.  It is obvious today that large numbers of politically correct lost people are deluded.  It is obvious.  Listen to their comments on almost any subject.  Irrational.  Make no sense.  But virulent, vicious, angry.  They are angry because they just don’t know and don’t understand and are gradually, let’s hope, realizing their views have been and are being rejected.

The Lord is coming back soon.  Let’s hope and pray this turnaround for America continues and more importantly spills over into the realm of a true Christian awakening.  Let’s pray for a real revival, one that will sweep the country and bring countless new people into God’s Kingdom!  Wouldn’t it be grand that when Jesus gets here he finds a nation working tirelessly to get his Word out to the world, a nation standing on his Word and his truths?

About two hundred and fifty years ago a small collection of people in the American colonies stood up and rebelled against what they viewed as wrong.  They rebelled and stood firm and eventually took forward a new form of government that has done nothing but shock and amaze and become the envy of the world.  Now today mainstream Americans have once again been called to stand up for what is right, to rebel against the tyranny of an elite that has controlled the government and the media and the entertainment world and has put forward a set of views that do not tie to that of the American culture or history or beliefs.  It is clearly a tough fight.  Pray for the health and safety of all those out there standing up for right and truth in this important battle.

* SIGN OF THE TIMES: A GREAT SIGN APPEARED IN HEAVEN

Yes on Saturday, September 23 a great sign will appear in heaven.   There can be no other response.  It is a great sign.  Now I am not going to over-interpret.  But it cannot be denied this is a great sign.  (I do not know whether you will be able to see it where you are.)

The first lines of Revelation 12 describe the sign – a woman in heaven, with the sun at her head and the moon at her feet, with a crown of twelve stars, and pregnant.

On September 23 the constellation Virgo will be in the heavens.  The constellation Leo will be at her head.  Leo contains nine bright stars.  They will be joined on this date by Mars, Venus, and Mercury, thus bringing the number to twelve stars.

The sun indeed will be at her head, and the moon indeed at her feet.  And the planet Jupiter will be in the region of her body that might be described as her womb.  And in fact Jupiter has been in this area for nine and a half months.

You can’t make this up.  It will happen.  From all the research I have done so far, this precise arrangement with all these items in place has not ever occurred in the period of human history from Adam to now. 

Lately we have seen extraordinary signs in the heavens.  Not too long ago the amazing four blood moons.  Early in August this year the total eclipse of the sun that began in the Northwest US and continued all the way across the country and out through South Carolina.

Now this great sign of Revelation 12.

I don’t have to decide if it is a great sign.  The Bible says it is.  A great sign.  In the King James translation, a great wonder.  We are in the last of the last days and things are speeding up.  This sign and recent events emphasize that.

In the last few weeks prior to our sending out the September newsletter on the 11th, we saw four extraordinary natural disasters of huge magnitude: hurricanes Harvey and Irma, the astounding fires in the western US, and the largest earthquake in Mexico in a hundred years. 

Now since that newsletter went out, we have another astounding hurricane in Maria plus a lesser one, with still another possibly on the horizon.  Some islands in the Atlantic have been terribly hit.  (We and others have prayed and taken authority in Jesus as indeed you all should, ordering the storms away from land, and indeed Irma was much reduced in power when it hit the Florida West Coast, thank God.  And it appears Maria will swing away from the US Atlantic Coast, thank God!).

Just this week on Tuesday, September 19, Mexico was hit with a second earthquake, this one much more deadly as it brought significant damage to Mexico City.

Jesus warned of fearful signs, earthquakes, roaring and tossing of the sea, and signs from heaven:

11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

25 “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. (Luke 21 NIV)

Well.  Now you’ve got it.

I still have things God has told me I am to do, so I don’t expect him to come tonight to collect his believers.  But I do think the time is short.  Things are speeding up.  And remember, God can do a lot in a short time.

I close with Luke 21:36, the Lord’s warning:

Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.” (NIV)

* THE LAST DAYS REVIVAL PLAN FOR RIGHT NOW

                          

Many Christian leaders hope to see a big revival, locally or nationally.  I expect some see the recent presidential election result as great encouragement in this.  They along with other believers well bemoan the great fall away from God in the country.  They bemoan the falling morality and the terrible behaviors we see everywhere. 

Over recent years, we have all seen efforts from well-meaning pastors and believers to move toward that revival.  In the area where I live, one church for years held an all-night prayer meeting once a week to pray for the city, the hope no doubt being to lead to a revival.

So many have seen actions like that.  But I have not seen anything come out of this beyond whatever happened in that specific effort and the people involved.  I may not know all that happened, of course, but certainly no regional revival took place.  Our own community demonstrates the fall away just as the nation does.

In some of our own past meetings – especially healing services but also other programs open to and led by the Holy Spirit - God did indeed show up in a powerful way, people were touched and healed and amazed.  People experienced the presence and power of God like they never had.  It was all wonderful.  For years I thought these meetings and what God was doing would lead to more and more being drawn in.  But it never happened.  Only once during an inner city healing service did a woman attending call people she knew on her cell phone and tell them to get down there while the meeting was underway.  She did not want her friends and family to miss it.  But in general, even at the most wonderful meetings where so many were touched and greatly impacted, people did not go and bring all their neighbors and friends and others to future programs as happened in the giant revivals of times past.  There was no big revival.

Why not?

I am still wondering and searching.

Best answer?  It was not God’s time. 

We are in the last of the last days.   Well-meaning, serious Christian leaders and others hope and pray for such a revival, but they likely either are - or should be - coming to the realization they just don’t know how to make that happen. They don’t know how to organize the effort so it will work.  They don’t know what the effort should look like. 

That is not really their fault.  It is not their revival.  They can’t do it on their own.

That is just not going to be the way a revival in the last days will happen.  I’m talking about a real breakthrough where people really encounter God, where people become born again Spirit-filled believers, where there is a recognizable and significant move of God impacting the people and the region in which they live, and hopefully even in the country as a whole, where large numbers of unbelievers become real believers.

Here is a big lesson I have learned, and in a discussion recently with one of my minister friends, I see he has learned it too.  The lesson:  It is not going to come about by serious people planning programs and campaigns and praying and asking God to bless and guide the programs they have designed.  Nope.  Those are actions of men.  Even though God has blessed such actions in the past, even though many ministers may want to try one more time, even though God always blesses the preaching of the gospel, that is not how the last days' revival will happen.  It is going to come about by God himself taking the actions he intends at his perfect time.   

Now this is what will most likely happen.  At some moment in the future the Holy Spirit will move to make this all come about.  He will organize.  He will put together the organization and the steps and actions, no doubt I believe using those really serious sold-out believers.  God has the plans.  Jesus knows what should happen.  And the Holy Spirit will put it all together.

Those whom God will use in this as his workers will have to be absolutely open to him.  No pride.  No seeking fame or glory at all for themselves.  We are way past the point in time of building careers.  Sold-out.  Those God will use must have great patience.  They must be at peace with not following that natural desire to step out and take some action.  Any action they take on their own will be fruitless.  It is God’s actions through them, God’s words and plans, that will count.  We have to be open and seeking and listening.  We have to see with spiritual eyes, hear with spiritual ears.  This last revival will be like the end time judgment, an action God takes in his perfect knowledge and wisdom and timing.

It is all God.  All God.  He has put you where you are, and he will work through you and use you in all this if you are in the right relationship with him and patient and open and listening. 

Remember:  We can’t do it ourselves.  No, we can’t.  Not alone.  To fulfill his plan, his objective, his assignment, he has to do it.  The plan and the approach is his, not ours.  We have to become nothing.  We must give ourselves up entirely.  Be consciously and unconsciously open to what he is doing, sensitive to him always, not ever pressing or forcing anything that we think must happen but rather letting him work through us to accomplish his plan, ready always to move and act as he would have us.  We are not taking the initiative.  He is.

Remember that old term - dying to self.  Dying to the old self, the old priorities, the old interests, the old objectives.  We are still learning what that means.  We must learn what that means.

We must be absolutely ready to go forward, to wage the battle, to do all that is required – at his guiding through us.  It is his initiative.  He takes the initiative.  He moves…through us and also directly as he chooses.

It’s not us stepping out.  More than ever, at this time in history, no evidence or glory of or for us.  It is all about you, Lord.  It is all you, Lord. Everything.  And if we don’t know or see how something is to go forward or might happen that you have revealed to us, well, that’s alright.  You will reveal what you want us to know at your time, your perfect time.  It is never our time that counts, but yours.

One last thing:  I do think this revival will not come about in the format or ways of past historical revivals.  I think it will not come through the normal traditional practices of established churches, so many of which are so far adrift from where we are in time and from teaching the full gospel and from being true to God and his word.  Rather, I think somehow it will be out in the public arena, regardless of where meetings and gatherings and such are held.  It will come about through the new wineskins I have been writing about.  After all, it needs to reach all those who don’t know.  Maybe God will do some overwhelming and undeniable miracles that will suddenly wake people up – perhaps direct miracles or perhaps through people we would not expect or people we do expect.  Don’t know. 

We are near this happening.  Of course we are.  We are near the return of the Lord.   

Stay alert, focus on Jesus, keep your spiritual eyes and ears open.  Pray in the Spirit at all times. 

It is an amazing time to be alive.  Not pleasant.  But amazing.

RIDING OUT THE LAST DAYS: JUST HOW NORMAL WILL THE REST OF 2016 BE?

Probably a strange question to most readers.  But not in any way an unrealistic question.

For years now we have marched down the path to the end of the last days before the return of Jesus.  Most people don’t even know they are part of the march.

We have seen the fulfillment of dozens of Biblical prophecies of events to happen before his return:  the reestablishment of the nation of Israel, the takeover of Jerusalem by the Jews, the ingathering of the Jews into Israel, the return of ancient Hebrew as the language of Israel, the great agricultural production of Israel, the great growth in frequency and intensity of all sorts of physical storms and earthquakes, the rise in mayhem and violence, the widespread and intense wars and rumors of wars, and so much more.  Details are in our May newsletter.

We have seen the steadily increasing spread of what Jesus warned about – deception.  “Watch that you are not deceived.”  The government of the United States and its political world lives and operates in deception.  The media does likewise.  So too do many in our everyday lives.  You know that if you are awake.

We have also seen the great and rapid falling away from God that Paul prophesied.  It is everywhere, in the social behavior of people and the actions of the president and the supreme court.  Astounding.

Has it not been amazing how silent and quiet most Americans have been as their country has moved rapidly away from its moral fundamentals, as the very essence that is America has been taken away from them?  Have you not been amazed at the meekness of so many?  More importantly and dramatically, have you not been shocked by the blindness of so many?

I would say that a sizeable number of Americans still go forward believing all is well with the nation.  Amazing.

Believers who remember history know how the US was founded, how even when the initial settlers landed, the nation was dedicated to God.  They know that a majority of the writers of the initial documents in Philadelphia were in fact preachers as well as having other professions.  And they know that the American experiment is the greatest experiment in government that has ever been in respect of the individual human being and his rights under God. They also know that the Constitution in fact was based in large part on the Bible.

But they also know that in the past the congress was filled with people who boldly and actively represented their states and people and who debated and fought for the best results.  Congress wrote the laws.  And the supreme court reviewed any instance brought forward where it was thought the laws overstepped the Constitution or the actions of the government did so.  The court ruled along those lines, comparing the laws and actions with the Constitution.  It was a check on congress and on the president and his administration.  The president led the nation and administered the government under the laws of the land.

Today congress has really ceased to exist as a meaningful member of the national government.  What do you ever see meaningful coming from Congress?  Nothing.  Occasionally there is a speech from a member.  Most are invisible and just seem to occupy seats.  Legally they still have the authority to take bold steps, but they do not.  The supreme court long ago stepped beyond reviewing situations to see if they complied with the Constitution and the laws of the land.  Now the court itself, by as little as a vote of five members, takes steps and in effect makes laws, generally in support of the president.  And the president?  In the past several years, he has astoundingly stepped out to in effect write the laws he wants by issuing edicts and directives.  Congress remains silent on all this and the court just backs him up. 

[Just as an aside, the term supreme court is a gross misnomer, is it not?  The real Supreme Court is the one Daniel saw in Daniel chapter 7, when he saw God and all those around him holding court.  This US court is hardly supreme.]

The recent candidate for president Ben Carson just a few days ago on national television said the level of corruption in politics is overwhelming.  The current uproar in the recent primary campaigns indicates that at least some American people may be finally coming to recognize that.  Let’s hope so. 

There is of course the great scripture that the god of this world (the devil) has blinded the minds of nonbelievers (2 Corinthians 4:4).

There is the cold hard fact that only those born anew and filled with and baptized with the Holy Spirit are guided by the Spirit and have the great gifts of the Spirit, one of which is discernment.  It is that guidance and those gifts that enable such believers to see through the false words of so many and to realize what is happening.   And it is that ability and sight that makes life truly sad for these believers as they live amidst a majority of blind and lost human beings.

But we believers do know Jesus and we know what is happening and what is coming!  So we still rejoice amidst all this darkness.

Paul warns that the Day of the Lord will not come until there is a great falling away and the anti-christ – or man of lawlessness - is revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:3). Well, the falling away has happened and is happening.  And the revealing of the anti-christ?  Soon.

Paul then goes on to say this:

The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.  For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. – (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12)

Notice the words lie and deceives and not believed.  The evil one, satan, the devil, operates in lies and deception.  God even gives all the blind, deceived people – the non-believers, all those without the Holy Spirit – a delusion so they will believe the lie.  He lets them be deluded.  Are we not there now?  Have you seen and listened to many of the statements of the national leaders and media and entertainers and such? Have you seen the interviews of people on the street who know nothing of their country or government or what is going on?

So will we in fact have a meaningful national election in the US this fall?  Will it be a real and fair one?  Let’s pray so.  I would like to see the US go through these last days fighting against the evil, struggling to stand up against all the falsehood and wickedness that pervades society today. 

When Jesus comes, wouldn’t you like him to see his believers out there in the fray, standing up for the truth, still working to help God lead more to Jesus?

What should you be doing?  All that the Holy Spirit leads you to do.  All the Lord has said to you, whether directly or in scripture.  Ask God for whatever specific guidance he has for you.  Jeremiah 33:3 says for you to call out to him and he will answer and will show you great and mighty things you do not know.  Well, do so.

One last comment.  Is your church teaching at all about the return of Jesus and the last days?  Is the pastor ever commenting and warning about all the actions in society and government that fly in the face of God and his word?  If not, ask why not.  You do not need to be involved in a frozen, politically correct but spiritually blind and asleep church.  Your future and that of your family may very much depend on your not being in such a place. 

Strange and bizarre times we are living in.  Really strange.  The Bible never said these times would be easy or enjoyable.  But the coming of the Lord to collect his believers will surely be wonderful and enjoyable for those he collects!
