* A WATCHMAN WARNING: EVIL RUNS AMOK

Every day any alert person can read or hear countless stories of abject evil.  Kids shot in schools by unthinking lost persons of various ages.  Drive by shootings.  All sorts of physical assaults.

In the bigger picture of course there is disastrous evil everywhere, such as in so many politicians who cannot discern truth, cannot speak truth, live in lies.  Reporters and television announcers who act the same in their environments.  Even some so-called religious leaders.  And on a still grander scale, how about the apparent move to overrun Europe and no doubt eventually the US as well with more and more Muslim immigrants.

What is happening?

Simple.   The last of the last days.  Satan knows that and his forces are out in wild abandon.

All these many people in our world who do not truly know Jesus, who are not born again, have no defense at all against the evil one and his minions.

God has given believers the ability to fight against evil.  In Jesus’ name we can cast out demons, order away evil spirits.  No one else can do that.  No person can fight an attack of evil forces without the power of the Lord operating through them and as needed the assistance of God’s angels.

This carries on to much more.  God has given us his great armor described in Ephesians 6 to protect us.  And he has sent us his angels to serve us.  That service includes protection.  Those angels are for true believers in Jesus Christ, persons who are in and will be in the Kingdom of God.

When our military encountered all sorts of evil in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East, do you think they were ready to counter that spiritual opponent?  To fight the spiritual fight?  Of course not, unless they themselves were true believers who know who they are in Jesus.  So we got all sorts of news stories of terrible things…of course…the devil in action.

The government, the media, the military, even many of your neighbors have no idea of what they are dealing with today or how to fight such evil.  Only true born again Christians know.  And only those operating in the gifts of the Spirit can readily discern all that is happening in a situation and the right way to go.  That guidance is one of the infinite benefits of the Holy Spirit.

Do not let yourself be deceived.  I share with you that great advice of Jesus regarding these last days, his first and primary piece of advice for these times (Luke 21:8).  So easy to be misled if you are not alert.  The devil is a liar and the father of lies, remember, along with being a murderer.  He presents himself as an angel of light.  You have to be alert and discerning.  I know that is frightening and some just don’t want to even put forth the effort.  But do you want to live confused, deceived, misled?

Remember the angel’s guidance to Daniel near the end of that great prophetic book.  Regarding these last days, he said:

Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand. – Daniel 12:10

Did you get that last sentence?  None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.  Wise here of course refers to true believers operating under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  Make sure that is you.

* A STARTLING SIGN OF OUR TIME

Notre Dame is the most famous church in the world.  The only other that comes close in world fame is St. Peter’s at the Vatican.  I remember staying a block or two from Notre Dame, walking by it several times, going to it to visit.  It really is on a little island in the middle of the Seine. 

Notre Dame.  The church is history!  Before Shakespeare, before Voltaire, before John Newton or the original Queen Elizabeth, before Robin Hood, before North America and the United States were even a speck in any European’s mind, before Republicans or Democrats or George Washington.

Notre Dame survived the French Revolution, World War I, World War II, and countless other things over 850 years.  Now a horrible fire has greatly damaged this iconic church.  It could not survive our day – this time of extraordinary immorality, massive deception, widespread falling away from God.  If you will permit this metaphor, I expect this grand church could no longer endure being there, in the midst of Paris, in the midst of France, in the midst of Europe. 

It has been said by many that France and Europe are in a post-Christian era.  That’s just another way for saying godless.  Europe had moved that way ahead of the United States, although much of American popular culture and society is deep into that now.  Surely all believers can see the extraordinary and dramatic symbolism of this fire at Notre Dame.

Yes of course Notre Dame was a symbol of France.  But more importantly it was a symbol of Christianity.  A great church, built to the glory of God by artisans over decades and decades at a time when there were no electricity, no cars, no spaceships, no Internet, no computers.  Yes, I know – some French billionaires have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars and the French president is determined to rebuild.  Really?  Will that ever happen?  Are there enough artisans on earth like the ones who built this great cathedral to replicate its craftsmanship?  Or the time?  It took nearly two centuries to build this church originally.  If you have not seen it or one of the few buildings on earth like this, you may not understand the astounding quality of the detail and art.  And the time and skill it took to create it.  People dedicated their lives to building a church they would never see finished, again all to the glory of God.

This fire surely is a Sign of our Time, of where we are.  I wish the French President would dedicate his and his country’s efforts to rebuilding their faith in and dedication to God.  But that is not the time we are living in, is it? 

And, as we know, the return of Jesus is ever so imminent.

* A WATCHMAN WARNING: HOW LONG?

At the end of last week the new Congresswoman Alexandria Occasio-Cortez introduced a GREEN NEW DEAL for America.  It was met by gasps and shocks and also laughter.  One Wall Street Journal reporter said she was laughing so hard she nearly cried and that the proposal looked like a parody of the Democratic Party by the Republican Party.
But here is the truth.  The astounding proposal that has as its objectives the elimination of all fossil fuels in ten years, the replacement or upgrading of all buildings in America, guaranteed compensation for all in America even those unwilling to work, the end of air transportation, and so much more is not a laughing matter.
Here should be our reaction:

• Shock and great concern that a member of Congress would introduce such a plan so devoid of rational thought or understanding of key issues
• Shock and great concern that a Senator from Massachusetts and three announced candidates for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020 would immediately back this plan. In fact now it appears more Democratic candidates for president are on-board as supporters.                                 
• Shock but eventual recognition of how far evil has gone in deceiving so many in America.
• Recognition that normal discussions and rationally developed responses to issues of the day are likely not going to be the norm in this nation anymore.

How long have I been writing and publishing the great scripture “…the god of this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers?”  Well?  Think this is a good example?  If I were writing WAKE UP AMERICA! now, this would absolutely be in the chapter on deception.

Just what kind of people do we have in Congress these days?  Just what kind of people do we have in America?  What kind of people elect these lost people who are putting forward such inane and even truly evil proposals that if enacted would be the death knell of the country and the extraordinary freedoms Americans have enjoyed?

And how long will it be before the Lord comes?

* A WATCHMAN WARNING: YIKES! SPIRALING DOWN FASTER THAN WE COULD HAVE IMAGINED!

We’ve talked about the apostasy, about the falling away from God that Paul noted would happen in these last days.  We’ve looked at all kinds of terrible examples of that.  But now the government of New York, the governor of Virginia, and the Board of Education of California have all given us monumental examples of evil, of apostasy.

And we ask – are these real citizens of America like us?  Where did they come from?  Who are they?  How can they have this kind of thinking?

NEW YORK
This is horror of horrors.  The state just approved the abortion of babies right up to birth.  Murdering full term babies is just fine with them.  To celebrate this mass murder decision the new One World Trade Center was lighted up in pink.

Evil doesn’t get any worse.  It can’t.  The people who made this decision are obviously horribly misguided.  2 Corinthians 4:4 applies to be sure, that the god of this world [the devil] has blinded the minds of nonbelievers.

VIRGINIA
Not to be outdone the state of Virginia’s legislature is considering a similar horrible abortion bill.  And to top it all off, the governor made some horrific statements right out of old horror movies.  He noted that should a baby at this late term be aborted and in fact be born alive, the baby could just be kept over here on the side while the doctors and parents debate the situation.  Debate what?  Killing the living person right there.

No nations of the world are worse than this.  This is pure unbridled murder, pure unbridled confusion and ignorance and immorality and lack of knowledge and understanding of God and his commands and truths.

Yet there is still more:  A picture from a college yearbook has just surfaced that shows the Virginia governor dressed up either in blackface or in a white sheet.  This picture has evoked such a reaction among the political world that there are now serious demands for the governor to resign, and maybe that is appropriate.  But not just for this picture alone; much more so for his terrible views of abortion.

You can’t make all this up.  This is horrible.

CALIFORNIA
So the California Board of Education is working to put into its curriculum in a few months the teaching to all children that there are fifteen genders in human life.  Fifteen.
Further, the curriculum notes that it is impossible to tell the gender of a baby because the baby can’t talk and thus can’t tell adults its gender.

Once again, 2 Corinthians 4:4.  The devil at work in people who have no knowledge of how to protect themselves against him.

WHERE WE ARE
You know where we are.  In the last of the last days.  Spiraling away.  So much more happening to write about - in the USA and in the world - but this is enough, isn’t it?  This surely makes the point of where we are in time.

* WATCHMAN WARNING: THE GOD OF THIS WORLD HAS BLINDED THE MINDS OF UNBELIEVERS (2 Cor 4:4)

Absolutely.  Clearly visible every day in all areas of our lives.

The majority of Americans and indeed all people are not serious Christians, not born again, not spirit filled.  They are easily led astray by the evil one who is working nonstop in these last of the last days to take as many as possible to the Kingdom of darkness and eventually to the Lake of Fire where he will end up.  Just look at these events of the last few days, including some bizarre happenings in the natural world:

• Newly elected congresswoman Rashida Tlaib in a rant called the president a “m…f…,” a term not ever used in any decent public or private conversation. Well, she is a Muslim, a Palestinian.  What kind of people would have ever elected her to Congress and given her a position of authority?  The answer?  People who have no idea or understanding of what is happening today.  People whose minds are blinded by the devil.

• The Grand Mosque in Mecca, Islam’s holiest city, has been plagued by locusts in recent days.   You haven’t seen this on the major news channels have you.

• Our colleges and universities are turning out many with a lack of understanding of the USA and its history and a lack of understanding of the horrors of other systems. Though socialism has failed everywhere many young people now strongly push for it, including some of these newly elected lost members of Congress and many of the political far left.  They can’t see the truth.  They are blinded to it.

• More and more transgender stories are coming to the fore.   The extraordinary ability of the devil to mislead has never been clearer.  A senior psychiatrist at John Hopkins University and former head psychiatrist at the hospital there says that “transgendered men do not become women, nor do transgendered women become men.”  He goes further to say that all such people “become feminized men or masculinized women, counterfeits or impersonators of the sex with which they ‘identify.’”  As a final warning, he notes that the idea that “one’s sex is fluid and a matter of choice” is extremely damaging, especially to young people.

• Earthquakes continue to be announced with frequency…many in recent days greater than category 6 have happened in different areas of the world. And the general weather continues in a most unusual form.  California continues to suffer from natural calamities.  Hailstorms in Saudi and Swaziland.  Waters turning red in Malawi and Indonesia.  It is undeniable to any alert observer that things are changing rapidly.

• The Canadian prime minister continues in his unfortunate push backing things of the far left – such as backing a new Canadian coin commemorating the 50th anniversary of his father’s decriminalization of homosexuality and his steady backing of all things Islam.

• Many countries throughout Europe continue their fall into the pit. It is now illegal to speak against Islam in Sweden.  Everyday citizens see their culture disappearing and the crime level rising.  On the opposite side the leaders of Austria and Hungary  have rebelled and are taking steps to try to protect their countries from the danger of uncontrolled Muslim immigration and violent Muslim clerics in their midst.

• The first day of the new Congress in Washington, a bill was introduced to do away with the Electoral College, a fundamental attempt to destroy the amazing constitutional design of the USA. Without the Electoral College, the presidential elections would all be controlled by the far left, far liberal states of California and New York which have enormous populations and always vote overwhelmingly liberal, leaving most of the rest of the country subject to their lost views. 

• Russia, Iran, and Turkey move ever closer together. Remember, these are the countries that invade Israel in the Ezekiel 38-39 war, likely early in the Tribulation period.

SIGN OF THESE TIMES AND ALL TIME: IT IS ALL ABOUT JESUS

It really is.

About your relationship with him, about your being born anew, about your being filled with and baptized with the Holy Spirit, about your doing God’s will, about your being like little children in your sincere and innocent childlike faith in the Lord.

There is no other way to heaven, no other way to being in the Kingdom of God, no other way to a good eternity, no other way to salvation from an eternity in the lake of fire, in a hell that defies comprehension.

It is not about which denomination or church you are part of, or whether you are part of one at all.

It is not about whether you read a responsive reading with the church pastor on Sunday or attend a liturgical church or not.

It is not about whether you stand and recite in rote some creed, whether a long-standing historical one or one recently written by your pastor.

It is not about singing classical old hymns, or modern worship music, or being immersed in praise music.

It is not about whether the clergy wear fancy formal robes and decorations and proceed ever so formally in the service or whether they wear blue jeans and have an informal service.

It is not about whether the congregation is solemn and stern or joyful and relaxed.

Once again, it is about this:

IT IS ALL ABOUT JESUS… AND YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM

*SIGN OF THE TIMES: RECOGNIZING AMERICA'S RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

Can we be thankful for the great people God has put amongst us, those who have carved and paved the way and worked to protect this grand and marvelous nation the Lord has established?  Can we not recognize with gratitude people from the past like John Adams and his wife Abigail, like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, like Abraham Lincoln?  Perhaps some of the more recent leaders will deserve to be in this list someday, but that is not yet clear.  History is too close, the years too short to see clearly.  Likely we may never get a chance for that perspective as the clock winds down on this age of human history and the Lord is soon to return to establish God’s Kingdom in physical presence on earth along with God’s will.

Here at the end of six thousand years of homo sapiens and the final days of the two thousand year run since Jesus Christ walked the earth, we have seen the rise and operation of a great nation created without doubt by God as his servants dedicated the soil to him when they came and worked hard in his service to establish a nation that was his.  It never occurred to them there would be a need to protect the heart and conscience of that nation against spiritually evil forces so numerous they would splinter and divide and wear down the once grand land.  This great experiment based on respect of the worth of individual people, protection of human rights, and above all an ongoing focus on God has run into all sorts of confusing behavior and sentiments these last days.  And the Lord’s return on the appointed day remains unchanged and still on schedule.

This nation, the home of so many dramatic scientific and business innovations and discoveries, was the nation that stepped into World War I to hasten its conclusion and then in all reality saved the world from a horrific fate by leading the defeat of Nazi Germany and then Japan in World War II.  Without America there would be no free world.  And when the many Biblical prophecies of the reestablishment of the physical nation of Israel came to fruition in 1948, it was the support and protection of the US that gave and has given this tiny country a chance to grow and survive – no doubt always God’s plan.  Even up to today.

And now we are on the precipice of the end of the age.  How will the US fare in these last days and even in the time afterwards known as the millennium?  Will it even be there?  Has its primary course been played?  Has it fulfilled its role in God’s grand plan?

We don’t know that yet.  We just know this is the season of the Lord’s return.  This is the time believers for centuries have longed for.  And we are blessed to be here, to be living now.  To see and experience it all.

The Lord gave us these words in his prayer long ago:

Our father,
Who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in Heaven.

Yes, God’s Kingdom come, God’s will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.

It will.
