* THIS IS 9/11

A date that will live in infamy.  Franklin Roosevelt said that about Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941, the day the Japanese military surprisingly attacked the US military based at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.

But for us today, 9/11 is the day that will live in infamy.  That was the day 19 wildly evil madmen killed 3000 American civilians who were going about their normal daily activities – at the World Trade Center, at the Pentagon, and on a plane that crashed in Pennsylvania because of the valiant efforts of passengers to keep it from hitting the White House or the Capitol.  It was absolute evil on display, shocking the American public who have such great difficulty understanding and believing there is a true living force in the universe that is absolute evil.

2000 have died since that day because of health problems caused by the attack, the fires, the smoke, the chemicals ingested.  Firemen, policemen, emergency workers, and just regular people.

This was an attack from 19 radical Muslim jihadists.  Never forget that. It was not an attack from some unknown group.  America and the world are still dealing with that general evil group which has so many names.

In these last hours before the return of the Lord, there is massive deception, breakdown of institutions and values once treasured, falling away from God, a coming apart at the seams, all at the same time believers in the Lord and even some good people who do not know the Lord seek to hold things together.

Never forget, despite what some news media might choose to ignore and not report or what some politicians want to forget and sweep under the rug.  The horrors of that day clarified for the country who the primary enemy in the secular world was and is.  That has not gone away.

Those who know the Lord have long known who the true spiritual enemy is.

A WATCHMAN WARNING: THE MAHDI - DO IRAN’S ACTIONS MEAN MORE THAN MOST REALIZE?

All of us have seen over recent days and past years how the leaders of Iran have steadily ratcheted up the conflict between Iran and the US and the rest of the West.  Considering the difference in size and physical might, this seems highly irrational.  Yet it continues, with the recent shooting down of an American drone and the seizing of a UK ship and the holding of the ship’s crew.  Iran continues as a constant threat to the world regarding its potential development of nuclear weapons.  As is well known, Iran is the key state sponsor of terrorism throughout the Middle East. 

I now suggest what very likely is going on.  Some of you may know this already.

Much of Islam believes in a return of a person called the Mahdi, also referred to by some as the twelfth Iman.  It is said this Mahdi was born many years ago – in the 800’s – but disappeared.  When this Mahdi returns he will bring justice and peace.  There is much more to the story but I am focusing only on the key points as it relates to us and our time.  The Mahdi is said to return with “Jesus.”  Remember, that Jesus is a figure in Islam, not Jesus the Son of God that Christian believers know.

Now consider these important points:

·        Most important: The Mahdi returns at a time of great upheaval, of chaos, of injustice, of corruption.

·        The great majority of the Shiite Muslims believe in this Mahdi.  (Islam has two major groups – Shiite and Sunni).  So too do some Sunni Muslims.

·        Iran is a Shiite Islamic Republic, a Muslim nation with most citizens being Shiites.

·        A majority of these Shiites are Twelvers – they believe in this Mahdi, this twelfth Iman.  The founder of modern Iran was in this group.  So too the current Supreme Leader there.

So is this fervent belief a cause for the nation’s leaders to take really extreme risks for their country, to put themselves in an adversarial position against the world’s greatest nation and Western civilization in general?  Is it possible Iran’s top leaders see themselves as paving the way for the return of this Mahdi?  A former president of Iran – Ahmadinejad – said a few years ago at the United Nations that the main mission of the Islamic Revolution is to pave the way for the reappearance of the 12th Imam.

Thus is it possible that creating world or regional chaos, even bringing about massive war and confusion, is something the top religious leaders who run Iran would see as a positive thing - creating the environment for the return of the Mahdi?

I know this is not a new idea, but it may be new to some of you, and I thought I should send it out, especially noting the events of the day.

In light of all the above, I have a warning for all:  This is a time for all of us to be alert, to watch, as our Lord Jesus said, so that we might be ready to go when he returns.  Luke 21:36 is specific to this.  Be alert.

* A WATCHMAN WARNING: EVIL RUNS AMOK

Every day any alert person can read or hear countless stories of abject evil.  Kids shot in schools by unthinking lost persons of various ages.  Drive by shootings.  All sorts of physical assaults.

In the bigger picture of course there is disastrous evil everywhere, such as in so many politicians who cannot discern truth, cannot speak truth, live in lies.  Reporters and television announcers who act the same in their environments.  Even some so-called religious leaders.  And on a still grander scale, how about the apparent move to overrun Europe and no doubt eventually the US as well with more and more Muslim immigrants.

What is happening?

Simple.   The last of the last days.  Satan knows that and his forces are out in wild abandon.

All these many people in our world who do not truly know Jesus, who are not born again, have no defense at all against the evil one and his minions.

God has given believers the ability to fight against evil.  In Jesus’ name we can cast out demons, order away evil spirits.  No one else can do that.  No person can fight an attack of evil forces without the power of the Lord operating through them and as needed the assistance of God’s angels.

This carries on to much more.  God has given us his great armor described in Ephesians 6 to protect us.  And he has sent us his angels to serve us.  That service includes protection.  Those angels are for true believers in Jesus Christ, persons who are in and will be in the Kingdom of God.

When our military encountered all sorts of evil in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East, do you think they were ready to counter that spiritual opponent?  To fight the spiritual fight?  Of course not, unless they themselves were true believers who know who they are in Jesus.  So we got all sorts of news stories of terrible things…of course…the devil in action.

The government, the media, the military, even many of your neighbors have no idea of what they are dealing with today or how to fight such evil.  Only true born again Christians know.  And only those operating in the gifts of the Spirit can readily discern all that is happening in a situation and the right way to go.  That guidance is one of the infinite benefits of the Holy Spirit.

Do not let yourself be deceived.  I share with you that great advice of Jesus regarding these last days, his first and primary piece of advice for these times (Luke 21:8).  So easy to be misled if you are not alert.  The devil is a liar and the father of lies, remember, along with being a murderer.  He presents himself as an angel of light.  You have to be alert and discerning.  I know that is frightening and some just don’t want to even put forth the effort.  But do you want to live confused, deceived, misled?

Remember the angel’s guidance to Daniel near the end of that great prophetic book.  Regarding these last days, he said:

Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand. – Daniel 12:10

Did you get that last sentence?  None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.  Wise here of course refers to true believers operating under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  Make sure that is you.

* WATCHMAN WARNING: THE GOD OF THIS WORLD HAS BLINDED THE MINDS OF UNBELIEVERS (2 Cor 4:4)

Absolutely.  Clearly visible every day in all areas of our lives.

The majority of Americans and indeed all people are not serious Christians, not born again, not spirit filled.  They are easily led astray by the evil one who is working nonstop in these last of the last days to take as many as possible to the Kingdom of darkness and eventually to the Lake of Fire where he will end up.  Just look at these events of the last few days, including some bizarre happenings in the natural world:

• Newly elected congresswoman Rashida Tlaib in a rant called the president a “m…f…,” a term not ever used in any decent public or private conversation. Well, she is a Muslim, a Palestinian.  What kind of people would have ever elected her to Congress and given her a position of authority?  The answer?  People who have no idea or understanding of what is happening today.  People whose minds are blinded by the devil.

• The Grand Mosque in Mecca, Islam’s holiest city, has been plagued by locusts in recent days.   You haven’t seen this on the major news channels have you.

• Our colleges and universities are turning out many with a lack of understanding of the USA and its history and a lack of understanding of the horrors of other systems. Though socialism has failed everywhere many young people now strongly push for it, including some of these newly elected lost members of Congress and many of the political far left.  They can’t see the truth.  They are blinded to it.

• More and more transgender stories are coming to the fore.   The extraordinary ability of the devil to mislead has never been clearer.  A senior psychiatrist at John Hopkins University and former head psychiatrist at the hospital there says that “transgendered men do not become women, nor do transgendered women become men.”  He goes further to say that all such people “become feminized men or masculinized women, counterfeits or impersonators of the sex with which they ‘identify.’”  As a final warning, he notes that the idea that “one’s sex is fluid and a matter of choice” is extremely damaging, especially to young people.

• Earthquakes continue to be announced with frequency…many in recent days greater than category 6 have happened in different areas of the world. And the general weather continues in a most unusual form.  California continues to suffer from natural calamities.  Hailstorms in Saudi and Swaziland.  Waters turning red in Malawi and Indonesia.  It is undeniable to any alert observer that things are changing rapidly.

• The Canadian prime minister continues in his unfortunate push backing things of the far left – such as backing a new Canadian coin commemorating the 50th anniversary of his father’s decriminalization of homosexuality and his steady backing of all things Islam.

• Many countries throughout Europe continue their fall into the pit. It is now illegal to speak against Islam in Sweden.  Everyday citizens see their culture disappearing and the crime level rising.  On the opposite side the leaders of Austria and Hungary  have rebelled and are taking steps to try to protect their countries from the danger of uncontrolled Muslim immigration and violent Muslim clerics in their midst.

• The first day of the new Congress in Washington, a bill was introduced to do away with the Electoral College, a fundamental attempt to destroy the amazing constitutional design of the USA. Without the Electoral College, the presidential elections would all be controlled by the far left, far liberal states of California and New York which have enormous populations and always vote overwhelmingly liberal, leaving most of the rest of the country subject to their lost views. 

• Russia, Iran, and Turkey move ever closer together. Remember, these are the countries that invade Israel in the Ezekiel 38-39 war, likely early in the Tribulation period.

* THE US CONGRESS AND AN ISLAMIC IMAM

So in a nation beset by so many terrible issues, including the recent as yet unexplained tragedy in Las Vegas, we see this week the US Congress chose again to have an islamic imam pray over the Congress.

According to news reports, he is from Duke University and was actually invited to do so by a North Carolina congressman.

There’s not much more to add to that, is there.  This formerly great institution that is currently so disparaged by the overwhelming majority of the American people chose to be prayed over by a representative of a false religion and to have prayers prayed that were not prayers to the one true God of Christianity.

According to reports, he prayed to “The holy one” and stated “we call you by different names.”  In the conclusion of his prayer, he closed with “your most holy and beautiful names” (note the plural names).  At some point he said that God can be experienced through “multiple paths.”

This is all just false religion and a false prophet.

As you all know, Jesus is the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through him (see John 14:6).

Amazing.  Sad.

That’s really all to add to this. 

In this time of trial and difficulty for those who care about the country and their fellow humans, once again we see how lost so many in the highest levels of government in the nation’s capital are.

Don’t ever stop praying for the Lord to reveal himself to the leaders of this country.

* EVIL

…He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. – John 8:44 NIV

Please note:  he was a murderer from the beginning.  Yes, he is a liar and the father of lies, but he also was a murderer from the beginning.

Evil is and has been very real in the world of homo sapiens ever since Eve encountered the devil in the Garden of Eden.

The devil himself, also known as satan and lucifer and the evil one, was as we know from scripture a very important high ranking angel.  And a very beautiful one.  And obviously a very proud one, for he decided to rebel against God and in doing so led many many angels to join him.

His fate is sealed.  In these very days in which we live, he knows his time is exceedingly short.  At the end of the Tribulation period when the Lord leads an army of his holy ones into the battle of Armageddon, the devil is seized and locked in a deep pit for a thousand years.  That is going to happen pretty soon now, and you can be assured the devil knows all those prophecies in the Bible about these last days.  Nothing says he is stupid; just vain and proud and crazily ambitious.  You know he has read the Bible.

In these last days he and those who follow him are wreaking all sorts of havoc.  They are active throughout the earth sowing discord and lies and leading all sorts of terrible things to happen.  How else can you explain ISIS, or Al Qaida, or Boko Haran, or any of the other violent terrorist groups?  How can you explain the massive growth of horrible drugs and their impact on humanity?  How all those millions who blindly follow false gods and doctrine?  How else these maniacal leaders we see in so many places.  And on and on.

These people do not know God, they have not been born again, they do not know scripture, they cannot protect themselves from the attacks and false leading of the devil and his minions.  Any lost person who does not know the Lord is a ready subject for the plans of satan.  The Bible advises us not to give the devil an opening, a foothold.  But anyone who does not know the Lord has given the devil his entire body as an opening, a foothold.

That’s what we have now.  That’s what we see in these evil and apparently blind or ignorant groups operating in such outrageous ways.

And that is what happens to individuals who suddenly in the world’s analysis must have cracked up, or must have a screw loose, or must be under the influence, or must be just plain nuts.  Well, part of that is true.  They are under the influence…of the devil.  That influence may come directly or through illicit drugs or other openings.  But these sad people have no way to defend themselves.  They don’t know the truths we have written about regarding God’s tools for protecting ourselves.

Remember, all you believers, as spelled out in Ephesians 6:12, our battle is not really against flesh and blood.  And we do not use the weapons of the world but rather spiritual weapons to fight with.  Paul was explicit about this in 2 Corinthians 10:3-7.

There really is evil.  It has been here as long as this human species.  It is active now.  It has been active in the past to be sure.  Remember Hitler and the Nazis and the gas ovens?  Remember Stalin?  Remember…well, ugh, who wants to recount all the horrors of human existence.  Not me.

That man who shot all those people in Las Vegas.  Think he was evil?  Certainly he was under the influence of evil.  To be sure.  Influence of what?  Of the devil.  Doesn’t matter what human terms are used to explain it all.  They are pointless.

This is the effect of real evil.  It is the same evil some of our military have encountered in fighting in the Middle East and unfortunately are not prepared to deal with.  The same evil no doubt that some others hoping to do good encounter when they go to desperate places.  Unless they are born again and baptized in the Spirit, they don’t have the gifts, the skills to discern and recognize and take appropriate action.

Evil is real.  It has always been thus for the human society.  Thank God, it does not win in the end.  But it does provide a lot of horror and pain along the way to that end.

* LIVING UNDER A DANGEROUS GOVERNMENT

Yesterday the FBI released a transcript of the words the killer in the Orlando club massacre said to the police in his 911 calls.  This is the worst terrorist attack in America since 9/11.  Only one problem.  The FBI and the Justice Department, or some other mysterious government entity, had “redacted” the transcript.  They had removed the killer’s references to ISIS and the ISIS leader.  They had translated the word allah as god.  Allah is the muslim deity.  He is in no way God, the God of the universe, the God of Christianity!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, we do not live in a fairy tale land or in a circus or carnival, although that is surely what the national government administration appears to believe.  We live in a true, physical secular world in which a significant enemy has targeted the end of western society.  A meaningful, large number of muslim jihadists are attacking and terrorizing all people not exactly like themselves.  Especially they are attacking western culture and Christians.  It is not a few who are muslim jihadists.  It is many thousands, and they are located in multiple countries.  There are obviously some directly connected or sympathetic to the cause living in America and also probably in every modern nation, as well as every Middle Eastern nation.

Yet for some reason that can only be sinister and evil, or else naïve and bumbling to the point of great concern for those of us in the country, the government of the United States publicly refuses to recognize this for what it is.  The attack in Orlando was an attack of muslim jihad.  It was not specifically an attack on the LGBT movement, and I understand that was not even mentioned by the killer in his 911 telephone call. 

This was a blatant cover-up attempt again by the government which insists that words like muslim and muslim terrorists and so forth not be used to describe the terrorists operating worldwide today, although it is quite clear to all who is conducting the world terrorist effort – muslim jihadists.  This is the same government that keeps the American military from referring to these terrorists as muslim terrorists.  Thank God this time that there was such an uproar and criticism from other prominent Americans that the more complete transcript was later released.  But the credibility damage and the government’s true colors were very apparent before that.

Jesus warned his believers to be alert, to watch at these end times.  He also warned us not to be deceived.  We have that deception in action very obviously in the government of the United States and other western governments.

You must keep your eyes on Jesus and seek to be guided by the Holy Spirit at all times.  It is to your peril that you drift away.  The Spiritual gifts, especially discernment, are of special value right now.

You and we can discuss why the government of the US, especially the top leaders, act as they do.  But one thing we cannot deny – their views and their actions are dangerous to the survival of this nation.  Why do you think the government is behaving in such a false way, in such a deceiving way?  Why do you think they persist in describing their administration as transparent when it is anything but that?

We know there are terrible times in the last days.  We know the evil one is operating everywhere he can.  And you see it right now in these horrible terrorist groups and in the deceptive, evil behavior of the top US government administration. 

It is way past time for all serious people to ask just whose government is this in Washington?  What is it doing?  And who is it really working for?  Quite obviously not the American people.

Don’t ever forget 2 Corinthians 4:4.  It is widely applicable today.

May God help us and have mercy on us.  And may we not fail to step up to the plate and stand up for Jesus wherever possible.

MUHAMMAD ALI (aka CASSIUS CLAY) - ONE VERY HARD LESSON

I was in college when Cassius Clay burst dramatically on the scene.  I remember when he shockingly beat Sonny Liston and became the heavyweight champion.  And I remember his surprising and creative personality, his bold declarations delivered in poetry.  And then in the following years not just his boxing victories but his bold behavior too that caused turmoil in the country but gained him great popularity.  He grew and grew in stature around the world, and I think I remember at one point his being recognized as the man known by the most people on earth.  I expect that was true.

He was an exciting and colorful and obviously talented and bright individual.  And his death provides another really strong teaching moment.

Muhammad Ali was a muslim.  Early on he left the name Cassius Clay and became Muhammad Ali.  A muslim. And at his coming funeral there will be muslim prayers.

A muslim.  A follower of a false religion.  So what does that say about where he is now?  Nothing good at all.  For such an admired person loved by so many, where he is right now is not good at all.  And using Bible prophecy and words about people like him, he will not be resurrected until after the thousand years following the tribulation (Revelation 20), when he will face the white throne judgement.  Not a good position to be in.

All this adulation on television, all this endless praise.  And yes he was indeed wildly successful and influential in this world.

But look at where he is now.  Not in this world.  Not anywhere you want to be. 

How many more highly successful and popular people could I write this about?  How many of those offering such praise now think or know about this?

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Mark 8:36)

Keep Your Eyes on Jesus!
