* WATCHMAN WARNING: WHAT WE HAVE GOING ON - THE FINAL STEPS

  

There will be fearful events, Jesus said of our time.  People will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea, he said.

 

All that just happened.  No one on the west coast of Florida, the Gulf Coast side, ever expected the storm Helene to have serious impact on them.  It was over a hundred miles away and supposedly heading north to come ashore in the panhandle area of Florida.  Then suddenly there was the many feet of storm surge and terrible destruction of cities and houses on that west coast.

 

Far away, five hundred miles north, in the mountains of NC people were living in Asheville and Boone and smaller towns like Chimney Rock and many more.  Five hundred miles!  Hurricanes were for the coast surely.  But not so this time.  Helene arrived at an area already saturated with many inches of rain.  And it just poured more on.  Then a flood ensued unlike anything anyone living had ever seen.  Massive destruction and loss of life.  We still don’t know the full extent.  The rescuers haven’t gotten everywhere to check it all out yet.  Too many trees down, not like we are used to seeing – a tree here or there.  No, this is piles of trees all together that take long, long periods to remove.  Buildings and cars wrecked and piled up.  Hundreds of roads damaged and cut off.  Bridges out.   And hundreds of people still missing.

 

The flood is of Biblical proportions some say.

 

Some try to compare it to the great flood there in 1916 but of course no one was around then.

 

And at the same time this is happening Iran sends many missiles into Israel, and the Middle East is turbulent indeed.  And the Ukraine war just continues.  Nation against nation.  Wars and rumors of wars.

 

Final signs.  These are part of the final signs.  Jesus outlined events of the last days.  Those days are here.

 

We are at the time of the Lord’s return.  Most people just do not know.  Serious believers know if they are paying attention.  Not anyone else. 

 

So we wait to hear his command, the angel’s shout, and the trumpet.  And we will be off, leaving behind huge numbers of people who do not know Jesus, including no doubt a significant number who thought they were Christians but were not born again, not born of water and the spirit as Jesus said was a requirement.  They had been let down by their church or by their own thinking.  They did not do the will of Jesus’ father.  They did not have the same innocent faith as little children.  And evidently they just did not truly believe.  So many in their churches and in some places their pastors themselves will be left behind.

 

Time.  It’s time.  You can continue to try to wake people up, to tell people the truth.  Lots just don’t want to be bothered.  They don’t want to hear.  Lots already have been caught in the deception of the evil one and even have fallen into delusion.  Some have just never paid attention or apparently even been able to hear the truth of God.  Many others get angry and protest in cities and universities for anti-god causes although they can’t understand they are on the wrong side,  They line up in support of vicious and blind opponents of the Jews and they support the LGBTQ movement in all its ramifications.  They are spiritually lost and will live in the Tribulation.

 

We believers all have to keep in mind that only God the Father can draw anyone to Jesus.  We can’t.  We can speak to others about Jesus and the gospel and the return.  We can pray for God the Father to draw these people to Jesus.  But then we have to let God be God.

 

Soon.  Soon the Lord will be here.  And we believers will be gone.  Comfort yourselves also with realization that some come to know the Lord during the horrible Tribulation period.  In Revelation John the disciple sees countless Tribulation saints in Heaven.

 

I don’t know how many more storms like Helene will occur or how extensive the wars will become or how many other natural or human disasters will occur before Jesus arrives.  Hopefully none.  One thing is for certain.  He will be here soon.

 

Another thing is certain too:

 

Some things are now happening on earth we have little or no control over.  Not all, just some.  I think we still apply the power of prayer in all situations and use the authority Jesus has given us at all times.  But just realize there may be moments that possibly we can’t change.  Jesus is coming indeed at the appointed time.  That time is set.  And it is soon.

* TO GOD ALONE BE THE GLORY - Rembrandt's RAISING OF THE CROSS

 

This is one of the great paintings from the Reformation.  Notice Christ on the cross being lifted up and put in place.  Notice the man at the foot of the cross wearing the beret.  That is Rembrandt.  He is putting Christ up on the cross.  He is putting it in place.

What is Rembrandt saying in this painting?  What is his message?  He is saying I put Christ on that cross.  My sins put him up there.  Rembrandt has recognized and painted the essential truth.  It is and was our sins that put Christ on the cross.  He went there to die for us, for you and me, to cover our sins. 

Because he lives – because he died the way he did and then rose from the dead - Jesus has earned for each true believer in him eternal life with him and his father.  He has earned forgiveness for each of us.  He overcame the world, and in him we do too.  Jesus did so many things I have written about before, but this is the key one – he reconciled human beings to God.  He took our sins upon himself and removed that unsolvable burden.  He gave us our lives again.

* SIGN OF THE TIMES: THE BASIC FACTS

  

Your salvation and your future entirely are in the hands of God. It was always that way.  They entirely depend on the role Jesus Christ fulfilled on earth so many years ago and on your acceptance of him as your Lord.  The Lord Jesus will soon come to claim his believers just before the Tribulation begins.  All those delusional leaders working toward the one-world government, all those leaders in so many areas of life so strongly acting in ungodly ways and in rebellion to God, remain yet to be shocked and surprised.  But it will all happen.  Still.  As always planned.

 

No political party is going to bring salvation and a bright future.  No political party is going to bring escape from what is coming on earth.  No political party is going to bring relief from the steadily increasing lawlessness, falling away from God, rebellion of children against their parents, increasingly immoral behavior of so many, and so much more that is happening all around us. 

 

In all things and at all times keep your eyes on Jesus.  Life as always is all about him and your relationship with him.  Finish any call the Lord has given you, any assignment.  As Paul said, …let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith (Hebrews 12:1-2).

 

As I always write, do whatever you can as guided by the Holy Spirit to help God the Father in his drawing to Jesus the people he has elected from the beginning of time.  Finishing that task is all that is holding up Jesus from completing his soon second major dramatic visit to the planet.  As the Bible says, it will all happen at the appointed time.   And as Jesus said, watch!

It all comes down to this.  It had to. It is all that really matters in all of existence.

 

Your hope is in God and him alone. 

 

There is nothing else of any meaning.

 

God – yes in three forms - Father, Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.  But overall, God.  One God.

 

There is no hope in religion, no hope in organizations, in church denominations, in morning and evening services, in governments and universities.

 

No.  Some might help in leading you to the one that counts, yes, but that is all.

 

The one that counts is God.

 

God has a heart and he opened a way for you.

 

He came to you in the form of Jesus.  He showed the way for you.  He spelled it out.

 

It is not any doctrine.

 

It is not any creed.

 

It is not any statement of values or beliefs.

 

Do you understand?  Finally?  At last?

 

There is a way.

 

In the end of everything there is one thing that counts.  You and God.

 

He is life and whatever you are to have and to be.

 

No hope at all without him.

 

Beneath everything, all the shouts and noise and talking and action, covered up is the suppressed realization that…

 

• You alone must make the decision to have Jesus as your Lord. It is all about your relationship with Jesus.  No other human being can take that step for you.
• You have to take the step. You alone have to decide.  And it is time.  Time to know the Lord.  Or give up for eternity.  Your future is all about your relationship with Jesus.

We can’t truly imagine God.

 

We can’t truly conceive God.

 

He just is.

 

You have the way to him, the path. Jesus is the way, the only way.

 

Take it.

 

He alone is your salvation.  Call out to him for help.  He will answer, maybe directly, maybe in ways you do not expect.  Get started.

 

Time is about up for you.

*WATCHMAN WARNING! : Who are those who never get into the Kingdom of Heaven, never get into the New Jerusalem?

 

Focus on these words from the very last chapter of the Bible:

 

Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. – Revelation 22:15

 

These are the Lord’s own words in the last chapter of the Bible.  

 

Except for the word “dogs,” these words are pretty clear to our modern day.  That word “dogs” refers in the original Greek to ungodly people with impure minds living in immoral ways. 

 

Jesus does not mince words.  He was crystal clear in the gospels about what it takes to be in the Kingdom of God (to be saved), about how many do not find the way, about how even some people who say they have done great works in his name may not be known by him and will be ordered away.  He talked to Nicodemus about the need for a person to be born anew – born of water and the Spirit.  He talked later in the same chapter emphasizing the phrase “believe in him.”  Elsewhere he spoke of the need to do the Father’s will.  And of the need to be like little children, e.g., to have that innocent true faith of little children.  Paul in his words said a person must confess Jesus is their Lord and believe in their heart that God raised him from the dead.

 

Now here at the very end of the Bible we see Jesus saying flatly these are those who are outside. 

 

Ultimately, you are responsible for your own relationship with Jesus. No one else can handle that for you.  Parents, friends, ministers can help along the way, but in the end it is you and Jesus.

 

And as possible you certainly should do all you can and all you are led by the Holy Spirit to do in helping God the Father lead others to Jesus – your family members, work associates, neighbors, and so many more.  The fact remains, as Jesus said himself, no one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws that person.  We of course do not know who the Father will draw, but we surely can pray and ask the Father to draw specific people to Jesus.  And we can do our part in getting the message out about Jesus, about who he is, and about his imminent return.

Humanity was forever separated from God.  There was no way sacrifices of animals could be sufficient to redeem us in God’s eyes. 

And then there was Jesus, the Son of God - the one and only perfect sacrifice that could pay the price for our sins, and he did.

“…you were slain
and with your blood you
purchased people for God
from every tribe and language and
people and nation.
You have made them to be a kingdom
and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign on earth.”
                                       - Revelation 5:9-10

He purchased people for God.  He paid our debt.  We believers are now part of a kingdom and we are priests and we will reign on earth.  We are the “them” and “they” in the last sentence from Revelation above.  With his blood when he was slain he bought you for God.  He saved your life and made your future grand.  And in his resurrection he overcame death and brought us eternity with him and the Father.

He is Jesus.  The whole Bible is about him.  He is our Lord and our King.  Everything is under his feet. 

Yes, he is worthy…worthy of all our praise forever and ever.

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
To receive power and wealth and
Wisdom and strength
And honor and glory and praise!”

* SINNERS IN THE HANDS OF AN ANGRY GOD

The most famous and well-known sermon ever delivered in America is Jonathan Edwards’ Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.  Way back in 1741 Edwards gave this sermon at a church in Enfield, Connecticut.  I have read that Enfield was not an especially spiritual place.  Nothing special on that front was happening there at the time.  Edwards reportedly read the sermon he had written down word for word. 

As the sermon went forward, people in attendance began shouting out “What shall I do to be saved? O, I am going to hell!”  People came forward to the pulpit.  One report says people begged him to stop.  At one point Edwards asked everyone to be quiet so he could continue.  The anguish of suddenly realizing who God is and who they were was upon them.

You can read this great sermon on the Internet.  Just type in the title above and hit search.

What does the message all come down to?  Read and think about this paragraph taken from the sermon.  It goes right to the heart of the message, to the point of who God the Father and Jesus and human beings indeed are and the disastrous position any are in who have not been born anew.

The bow of God’s wrath is bent, and the arrow made ready on the string, and justice bends the arrow at your heart, and strains the bow, and it is nothing but the mere pleasure of God, and that of an angry God, without any promise or obligation at all, that keeps the arrow one moment from being made drunk with your blood. Thus all you that never passed under a great change of heart, by the mighty power of the Spirit of God upon your souls; all you that were never born again, and made new creatures, and raised from being dead in sin, to a state of new, and before altogether unexperienced light and life, are in the hands of an angry God.

Without a person’s being born again, without their accepting Jesus and thus without his saving grace standing between them and God the Father, they are in the hands of an angry God.  That is God who hates sin, who has always hated sin.  Early in Genesis 6 God looked at the world, saw the behavior of people, and decided he would limit man’s days to 120 years.  Just a couple verses later he saw that every inclination of the thoughts of a man’s heart was only evil all the time.  He decided to eliminate all humans.  God grieved that he had made man, but then Noah found favor in the eyes of God, and God spared Noah and his family.  Every other person on earth was killed in the flood.

God hates sin.  He hates evil.  Of course he does.  The only hope any human has is in the Lord Jesus Christ and what he did for them on the cross.  And to benefit from that hope, a person must recognize Jesus for who he is and accept Jesus as their Lord.

All those people who are not born again, who have not believed truly in the Lord Jesus, are in the hands of an angry God.  It is just a matter of time until his wrath is poured out on them.  And be assured, unless they change their ways and come to the Lord Jesus, it will be…for eternity.  Right now the mass of humanity is in this lost group.  And time is running out.

To paraphrase Edwards’ closing lines, the wrath of Almighty God is now undoubtedly hanging over a great part of humanity.  Let everyone fly out of Sodom.  Haste and escape for your lives.  (That escaping of course means to seek Jesus, change what you have been doing, realize who he is, be born again, accept him as your Lord.).

I know that most of the readers of this publication are indeed born again believers.  But I also know that each of you know many among your relatives, family, friends, work associates, neighbors, who are not.  God reached those people in Enfield that day back in 1741.  Perhaps he is ready through you to reach those you care about.  Give or send them a copy of this article.  Ask the Holy Spirit to help you in speaking to them about Jesus and their great need.  Ask him to arrange the time and place, to guide you to all such encounters he would have you have anywhere.

* A LIFE CHECKLIST FOR RIGHT NOW - YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO WAIT

Are you hearing these subjects preached and taught in your church:

·         -  The imminent return of Jesus…likely in your own lifetime.

·         -  The long list of Biblical prophecies of things to happen before Jesus’ return that have happened in recent years

·          - The amazing level of deception today in all levels and positions in society.  (Jesus’ first response when asked about the time of his return was to watch so as not to be deceived.).

·         -  The dramatic falling away from God in society.

·         -  The extraordinary anti-Christian actions taken by government and other groups today in so many areas of life (and how they relate to scripture).

·        -   Jesus and the full gospel message itself – who he is and all he did and still does….and who you are in him.

·          - The Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit – The Holy Spirit is one of the three members of the Trinity and the one active on earth in all believers today.  Divine healings, miracles, all still real and true today.

·         -  The fact that you can do the same things as Jesus, even greater.  He said that.

If you are not hearing these taught today, ask your pastor why not.  If he cannot give you a good answer or does not believe the above, get out of that church.  It is not a requirement of the Lord or the Bible that you go weekly to a false or dead church and sit under weak and false teaching.  Unless there is a great spiritual revival affecting many before the Lord returns, Jesus surely will not recognize as his believers a great number of those who call themselves Christians.

The Bible does speak about the benefits of being around believers, around those who can encourage you and through whom you can learn.  You do need to find those types of people where you live even if it is a small number and try to spend time with them.  I know that is difficult.  You would be amazed at the calls and emails and general requests we get from people over the years asking “where can we go to church.”  The lack of real churches is one of the reasons so many serious believers have taken to meeting in small groups outside the traditional mainstream churches.  Those small groups really become “real” churches.

One of the great concerns of serious ministers and believers today is the number of people (1) who are not born of water and the spirit as Jesus had said was required to be in the kingdom of God and (2) who sit in churches once a week where they receive dry, worldly oriented sermons or feel-good sermons and believe they are all right with God and the future.  There is little or no growth in Christian maturity.  Ministers in those churches will answer to God, but so will the people.

Do you truly know the Lord Jesus Christ?  Do you absolutely know you will go with him when he returns, that you are in the Kingdom of God now?

·       - Jesus himself said a person had to be born again, or born anew (or born from above to look at the original Greek) in order just to see the Kingdom of God.  To actually be in it, a person must be born of water and the Spirit.  This being born again is the actual receiving of a new spirit.  As the Bible says, initially a person is born of human parents.  But when a person is born again, or born anew, God himself becomes their father.  They receive a new spirit.  (See John 3:3-5 and John 1:12-13).  A key focus of the rest of life on earth for a born again person is working to rehab their mind and eventually get the physical body under control.  That is called renewing the mind in the Bible, and has to do with reading and studying the scriptures.

 

·         -  Paul speaking about how a person gets to this position declares that if a person confesses that Jesus is Lord and believes that God has raised Jesus from the dead, then he will be saved (Romans 10:9).  That “saved” uses a Greek word which means healed in all aspects of life.  When Paul says the word “believes” here, he is using a word that means absolute belief – such as you believe there is enough air in the room in which you are reading this right now to keep you alive, or else you would be running out.  Absolute belief.

·         - Or the famous John 3:16 statement of Jesus, that God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whosoever believes in him would not die but would have life eternal.  Again, that word believes that means absolute belief.

Do you have that absolute belief?  Do you believe in Jesus that way?  Another term that connotes such belief is knowing the Lord.  Do you actually know him?  When you pray, do you connect with him, with the Holy Spirit?  Do you have that absolute faith that your words are heard and received?

One clear sign of being in the Kingdom is noted by Paul when he says a person, having believed, is marked with a seal, the Holy Spirit who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance (Ephesians 1:13-14).

If you aren’t sure or don’t think you believe like that, ask Jesus to help you.  Ask him to be the Lord of your life.  Give your life to him.  Ask for forgiveness for your sins.  Jesus is always looking for people who pray prayers like that.  There is no formula, just a truthful recognition of who Jesus is and asking him to come into your life.

THE KEY POINT OF ALL THIS!

All around you notice that people really fall into two groups – those who truly believe and know Jesus, and everyone else.  That everyone else includes all those in other false religions such as muslims, buddhists, hindu, and so on, and it includes those who profess to be atheists, and it includes all those who go to church on Sunday but have never truly known the Lord nor truly in their heart committed to him.

We are living in the last of the last days.  The Lord is returning soon. There are some serious believers who truly know that.  And there are a great number of people who attend traditional and other churches where lukewarm sermons deal with none of the essentials of faith and belief, people who do not know the seriousness of the times.  Add to that of course the large number of people who just know nothing about the Lord.  Difficult times for us all, to be sure.

When Jesus comes, will he find faith on earth?  The most important question for you – will he find that faith in you?  And will you be ready?  What about those you know?

MUHAMMAD ALI (aka CASSIUS CLAY) - ONE VERY HARD LESSON

I was in college when Cassius Clay burst dramatically on the scene.  I remember when he shockingly beat Sonny Liston and became the heavyweight champion.  And I remember his surprising and creative personality, his bold declarations delivered in poetry.  And then in the following years not just his boxing victories but his bold behavior too that caused turmoil in the country but gained him great popularity.  He grew and grew in stature around the world, and I think I remember at one point his being recognized as the man known by the most people on earth.  I expect that was true.

He was an exciting and colorful and obviously talented and bright individual.  And his death provides another really strong teaching moment.

Muhammad Ali was a muslim.  Early on he left the name Cassius Clay and became Muhammad Ali.  A muslim. And at his coming funeral there will be muslim prayers.

A muslim.  A follower of a false religion.  So what does that say about where he is now?  Nothing good at all.  For such an admired person loved by so many, where he is right now is not good at all.  And using Bible prophecy and words about people like him, he will not be resurrected until after the thousand years following the tribulation (Revelation 20), when he will face the white throne judgement.  Not a good position to be in.

All this adulation on television, all this endless praise.  And yes he was indeed wildly successful and influential in this world.

But look at where he is now.  Not in this world.  Not anywhere you want to be. 

How many more highly successful and popular people could I write this about?  How many of those offering such praise now think or know about this?

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Mark 8:36)

Keep Your Eyes on Jesus!

I AM.

We are now celebrating the anniversary of the greatest moment in human history, the reconciliation of lost human beings to God by the actions of Jesus in going to and through the cross, in his victory over evil, over sin and death, over sickness and disease and pain and curses, in other words victory over anything that separated human beings from God.

On the night he was arrested, the band of soldiers and others came to where he and the disciples were. Estimates of the size of the group of soldiers amazingly range from 300 to 600. Obviously they did not know what to expect.

When the band arrived, Jesus asked them, “Who is it you want?”

They replied, “Jesus of Nazareth.”

And an astounding thing happened. According to our English language Bibles, Jesus answered, “I am he.” And the soldiers and others with them drew back and fell to the ground (John 18:6)!

But Jesus did not say, “I am he.” What he said, in the original Greek, was “ego eimi.”

“Ego eimi” means “I AM.”

That’s what Jesus said. “I AM.” The same phrase that God had applied to himself in speaking with Moses in Exodus 3:14. Our English translations have added the word “he” to “I am,” but Jesus did not say “he.” To the credit of the King James translation, the word “he” there is in italics to indicate it has been added.

Jesus had simply stated who he was. “I AM.” The overwhelming power and glory that was and is his knocked all the soldiers to the ground.

Now, having clearly demonstrated who had the greater power, he then allowed himself to be arrested and taken off to be slaughtered for you and me.

Amazing, isn’t it. That God would take such a step. We cannot comprehend that level of love. We cannot truly and fully comprehend what motivated God to send his son down here for such a purpose. Jesus had the right to take up his life and to lay it down. Thankfully, for all of us he chose to go through with the heavenly plan.

Remember when Philip in John 14 asked Jesus to show the disciples the Father, and Jesus replied that anyone who has seen him has seen the Father.

Remember elsewhere when Jesus declared that the Father and he are one?

That was the Son of God the soldiers came to arrest and that Philip was looking at. In essence and in truth, that was God they were arresting and that Philip was seeing. The great “I AM” answered the soldiers.

Jesus referred to himself that way more than once. Check out John 8:58 and John 13:19.

Nothing should prevent you from accepting Jesus as your Lord and being reconciled to the Father. If you have not done so, then sincerely ask for forgiveness for all your sinful actions and life and ask this Jesus to be your Lord. Now. There is not much time left. He’s about to make a second visit.
