Nothing has to happen before Jesus comes to collect his believers. Nothing.
Today, right now, we are living in the very midst of the time which has the characteristics he himself described and presented as the time of his return.
Look at the very words Jesus chose to describe that moment in Luke 17. There he said the times in which he would come would be just as it was in the days of Noah and Lot! That is where we are living now. Right there. Seriously. You need to focus on that and all it means!
What were those days like? In terms of basic activities, Jesus says the people then were buying and selling, eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, planting and building. Certainly, people do all those things in our time now.
But what else does the Bible say about the times of Noah and Lot? That they were overwhelmingly evil, immoral, in my words outrageously bad.
In Ezekiel God says about Sodom:
Remember when the angels visited Lot in Sodom and they were inside his house? Then
Remember too what God said about the times of Noah?
Certainly we all remember what happened next.
God of course can and no doubt will judge the level of evil on earth today. Surely we know it is monstrous. It is everywhere, in front of our faces. Countless stories of atrocious behavior on the part of what appear to be human beings but are obviously lost, delusional souls.
In 2 Thessalonians 2 we see that God eventually turns over to delusion truly evil people who are perishing because they just refuse to love the truth. In Romans 1 we see how he gives such evil people a depraved mind. The last paragraph of the Romans section on this presents a really shattering description of the evil people:
We have now significant numbers on earth who do not know truth and cannot recognize it. They pursue irrational, bizarre points of view that make no sense. These delusional, lost people range from those in the far left lunatic violent groups all the way to leaders in any field – including the church field – who just do not know the truth and miss the mark.
Scanning a daily newspaper or an Internet news posting presents one horrible incident after another. Established organized groups in society like the justice system try their best to cope with this while opposing, out-of-control large numbers seek to limit their response.
God you know will not be mocked. He does have great patience but not endless patience where outrageous sinful behavior is concerned.
It is difficult to see why the Lord has not already come, other than that great patience is still trying to draw a few more into the Kingdom.
I cannot tell you precisely the day and hour of Jesus’ return. No one can do that that I know, at least not now. I do not discount the Lord might give a last second warning to some. He surely has told me several times his views on the return and what will happen, and I have reported much of that to you. Always, the point is that the time is soon. And when he comes, things will be different. He actually said that. It will be swift, no light surprise. He said that too.
Long ago he told me to tell people who he is and that he is coming soon, so that has become the focal point of our ministry. And he told me not to let people go into the night. You can imagine my reaction to that, and I – and my wife Cathy – and our ministry have tried to do just that. But even so there are so many apparently determined to go into that night, even though they blindly and stupidly do not know what it is.
I hope you and all you have influence with are ready for the Lord’s return. I hope you are watching, as he warned in Luke 21:36. Our short video on that scripture and the ten virgins account of Matthew 25 just reached almost a million and a half in four days in Malaysia, Hungary, and New Zealand. It must be a scripture, a truth, the Lord wants understood!
You do know, I hope, that God chose those he would have in the Kingdom of God way back before the creation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). Yes. Really. But to be there, a person must at some point recognize who Jesus is and ask him to be and accept him as the Lord of their life. They must repent, change what they are doing, move from their wicked ways, and seek to do the Father’s will always. They must have the innocent faith of little children.
No one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws him. You must realize surely that the Father does take steps to draw those he chose way back before the beginning. It is just that some of them don’t respond.
We are living in the time all who ever knew the truth would have loved to live, the time of Jesus’ return. The world around us – still under the control of the devil as John reminds us in 1 John 5:19 – is hardly a marvelous place right now. But we are soon to finally go home. We won’t be aliens on planet earth anymore. We will be with Jesus and the Father in Heaven, in the Kingdom of God on earth during the millennium, and in the new Jerusalem.
