* WATCHMAN WARNING: TIME TO STAND AGAINST CORONAVIRUS - GOING ON THE OFFENSIVE

Right now the coronavirus is terrifying the world – well, certainly at least China, Italy, Spain, Iran, the United Kingdom, other European countries, and the USA.  It is a highly contagious disease that is not fully understood and for which no current medical cures exist, although efforts are underway to find some.  So the protection approach of our secular world system is one of removing people from the presence of the virus – e.g., isolating people.

Nothing wrong with that.  It has been shown to work already in China and some other smaller countries.  And surely we all should work with the authorities in this. 

But we believers also know what Jesus said that applies here.   In John 14:12-14 Jesus said those who believe in him will do the same things he had been doing, even greater.  He said that he would do whatever we ask him in his name.  He also said over in John 16:23 that Father God will give us whatever we ask him in Jesus’ name.

Further, in Mark 11:22-23 Jesus made the point that anyone who has faith in God can say to their mountain “go and throw yourself into the sea,” and if they believe and do not doubt, it will be done as they have said.  That mountain today for society is coronavirus.

It’s time right now once again to focus on these verses and to put your faith into action.  The gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of power and not just word!  It is these verses and others that lead us to realize that in Jesus all things are possible.  He himself said all things are possible with God, remember?

What did Jesus do?  He healed the sick.  He also changed the weather.  And much more.    And he says we can do the same things as he, and more!

Well, we do.  People do receive their healing!  And the weather is changed!

We have certainly seen hurricanes turn aside in the past and/or diminish in power when we and others took that bold stand and action in Jesus’ name and ordered the hurricane to turn aside and to diminish in power.  And we have faith and expect that now in the case of coronavirus. 

So I ask now everyone wherever you are to use these truths to pray against this disease, to take a stand.  Wherever you are, declare

In Jesus’ name, I order the disease coronavirus to get away from all people, from the United States and from all countries.  I order it to disappear from the face of the earth.  

Be bold!  You can put this in your own words, but that is what Jesus said we could do.  Remember, all the miracles he did.  Remember all the healings and miracles we have seen in our ministry and reported to you.

Do it now!

Some of you may raise this issue:  Since we are so close to the return of Jesus and since there are so many prophecies being fulfilled regarding these last days, is this coronavirus not fulfillment of the sign of pestilence mentioned by Jesus?  Or maybe even more?  And if so should we pray against it?

The answer is this:  Yes, I believe it is part of the last days.  I plan to write more on that specifically soon.  But that does not stop God’s people from taking action against it using the tools and knowledge and anointing he has given us.  Remember, in Numbers 16:41-50, God was so upset with the behavior of the Israelites and their constant criticism of Moses and Aaron that he unleashed a plague on them.  Moses sent Aaron into the people with a censer containing incense and fire, and the plague was stopped by Aaron running through the crowd.  But 14,700 Israelites were killed right then by that plague.  So God honored the behavior of Moses and Aaron in stopping the plague, and he will honor Jesus’ words to us as well.

* SIGN OF THE TIMES: REMEMBER

This is an extraordinary, unusual, and for most of us unprecedented time we are living in right now.  Keep your eyes on Jesus, the one who counts, and remember these great truths:

FEAR – Fear is not from God.  You know where that comes from, from the evil side of the spiritual realm, from that individual who has been a liar from the beginning.

PANIC – That is just an escalation of fear having its way.  Fear and panic in our society right now are evident not just in the general population but especially among some of these talking head leaders that are on television way too often and often just spread uncertainty and more confusion.  Some seem to almost relish giving out wildly out of line projections of how many will be sick when no evidence so far supports that.

HEALING AND HEALTH AND PROTECTION – All those scriptures in the Bible pertaining to divine healing and to God’s protection that I am always writing about and ministering in are just as true now as they always were.  And they apply to coronavirus just as they apply to anything else.

NOTHING IS TOO HARD FOR GOD – Still true.  God made that point himself.

ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD – A point made by Jesus and by Gabriel.

BELIEVERS CAN DO THE SAME THINGS JESUS DID – Jesus made that point.

SOME PERHAPS HELPFUL COMMENTS - I know it is troubling and confusing and perhaps angering to listen to all the politicians and all the media talk about this virus and plan all sorts of things.  We see even in this time of national concern the evidence still of individual political priorities coming in, people criticizing and hoping to make political points, and some media and some bureaucrats seemingly easily excitable and wanting to grandstand and project all sorts of things that are just not helpful.  All this is troubling and we must admit that in recent years these people have lost a lot of credibility with the public at large.  Still, we have to realize people are just people.  They are not God, although those who truly know the Lord can operate as he wishes and with the authority the Lord has given each believer.  Believers have the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  Many of those on television you see all the time today focusing on this issue may not know the Lord and they are operating in their humanness.  And people make mistakes.  We all do.

ONE ADDITIONAL PIECE OF ADVICE - We all need to be alert to the actions being taken by the government here and abroad.  Do these actions make sense?  Are they justified?  Only time will tell.  But as this plays out, we need to see that these temporary measures really are temporary and disappear as soon as the disease is basically over.  We don’t need all those big government types, the one-world types, to put in place more harmful controls at a time of real serious concern on the part of the populace when most people are not thinking beyond the disease and how to be safe.

LAST DAYS – And one last area of comment.  Yes, it is true that pestilence is one of the signs of these last days before the Lord returns.  Well, you already knew we were living at the time of his soon return, so no need to be surprised by that.  There are all sorts of strange happenings around the world now, as we have written about in newsletters and other publications for a long time.
In all things at all times keep your eyes on Jesus.  Use the great spiritual gift of discernment that comes with the Holy Spirit to discern the truth in all situations.  Be guided by the Spirit as you go forward.  And live in that great peace and joy that comes with knowing the Lord.  Remember, he overcame the world and in him we do too.  Remember, in him you cast out demons.   And remember above all, that if you are a believer, the Lord is never going to lose you.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. – John 14:27

* SIGN OF THE TIMES: QUICK POINTS YOU CAN USE

Quick bold points taken from the world around that make the case of where we are in time.  There are lots of things we have said and could say about the imminent return of Jesus, but you might use these points below taken right out of the daily news to get the attention of some who have so far been asleep or are not alert to what is happening.
Just from this list alone it is very apparent something very big is about to happen.

• Reported from Israel: top rabbis are afraid to leave the country because they do not want to miss the coming of the Messiah (Israel Today).

• One very top Israeli rabbi has pointedly just said the Messiah is coming soon and that he has been in communication with the Messiah (Breaking Israeli News; Israel Today).

• In Brazil a gigantic Christian meeting referred to as the Send Conference was recently held in three stadiums – 140,000 attending in all. Note the name:     Tens of thousands there adopted various mission fields.  I’ve heard the number was 70,000.  Sending forth of believers to the world.  Think that might be part of the last days effort of God to get the people into his Kingdom that have not yet come to Jesus, those elect who haven’t yet realized who they are? (Fox News)

• Billions of locusts have been ravaging East Africa. Now there are similar reports of locusts moving into Yemen, Pakistan, Iran, India, and even China.  (CBN)

• Coronavirus – a potential pestilence and all that entails, and other disasters like multiple earthquakes are the stuff of our daily world news. You may not see the reports of the earthquakes, but they are always indeed happening.  There are daily many many small earthquakes in the world.  But in just the last month there have been several major ones, like the one Sunday in Turkey and Iran, the one earlier in the month in Japan, the one between Cuba and Jamaica that even provoked evacuations in Miami, one in the Solomon Islands, and another in Turkey.   All of this is in line with prophecies of the last days. 

• The serious effort to get a real peace plan signed between Israel and the Palestinians continues. Obviously this has not yet happened, but the “deal of the century” recently put forward by the US government and surprisingly favorably received by some Arab nations is a clear indication we are getting close.  Looking at Daniel 9:27 and Ezekiel 38-39, the plan the Israelites sign must evidently give them a sense of true peace since they move to living in unwalled villages - e.g., no protection.  (The signing of an agreement which accomplishes this will be the final straw, and the Tribulation will begin.)

And then we have this very disturbing and sad point:  According to a study by Lifeway, 98% of the churches in America do not talk about the return.  We’ve written a great deal about that haven’t we.  Somehow, for whatever reason, the churches are asleep.  Unless things change dramatically, we are going to have a lot of shocked people on earth.

TO CHRISTIAN WORKERS TOILING IN QUIETNESS AND WONDERING

Many wonderful people toil in this world to do the work of the Lord, to fulfill what they understand is their calling.

For some the results are immediately apparent, such as giving relief aid to starving people, helping build houses for the poor, that kind of thing.

For many others the results are not as obvious – such as for those striving to help others understand who Jesus is, what he did, who they are and can be in him.  Remember, Jesus said some sow and others reap.  The sowers who are aggressively out there may operate in a personally lonely world.  Telling the truth, even the wonderful God’s truth, is not something a lot of people want to or can receive easily.  The evil one has done a great deal of work creating interference, noise, confusion.

Once I wrote a poem to Emily Dickinson.  She is one of the two or three that might be considered America’s greatest poet.  Now I have no evidence she strived in ministry anytime, but she wrote countless poems that are quickly read and go right to the heart of life and life’s great issues.  Her poems are just plain wonderful.

Yet in her life she did not know that she was so regarded.  Maybe one or two of her poems were published in a local paper.  She just lived a lonely, quiet life, not married.  At one point she wrote a poignant poem that began with this line:

     This is my letter to the world,
     That never wrote to me,-     

There is more, but that makes the point about her life.  So one day I decided to answer her letter to the world with this poem:

A Reply to Emily Dickinson   (poem copyright © 2004 by John Newlin)
     We received your letter to the world
     That never wrote to you;
     We read it twice, thousands of times,
     Your words and heart come through.
   
     Our physical hands are the ones
     That you just could not see;
     With admiration from afar,
     We judge you tenderly.

She would have liked that poem.  It is in her style.

But my point to all of you in sharing this is that you do not know your impact on others.  You have no idea how you are impacting them or how you are being used by God.

Just one closing example.  For years we were on television from New England all the way to Florida.  One a day a young man from the Boston area called.  He requested a few CDs.  I offered but he did not want to be added to the distribution list.  We talked just a few moments.  Suddenly he blurted out ”Your programs are wonderful!  Saved my life.”  And with that he was gone.  I lived a long time on that phone call.

God knows who you are, what you are doing, what you need.  Sometimes when you feel most alone, he just steps in.  And then sometimes maybe when you are so alone, you wish he would step in!  Just remember, we don’t see the big picture.  We can’t.  If you are doing what you think you are supposed to be doing, what God has called you to do, that is it.  You are fulfilling your call.  And maybe this message from me is God’s message to you.

* A WATCHMAN WARNING: THINKING ABOUT DEATH - HOW HUGE IS THE NUMBER OF LOST ON EARTH?

So huge.  So large.  So many people with little or no idea of life and eternity.

This life on earth is temporary.  It is short in physical time.  After that comes eternity.  How many people do you know who have ever spent any time thinking about that – eternity?  Forever.

There are only two eternities available for people.

One, an eternity with Jesus and the Father, and the other an eternity in a place of horror, a place separated from God, a place called hell, a place the Bible refers to in the last book as the Lake of Fire, a place where Satan himself and the Antichrist and the false prophet will also dwell for eternity.

We have all in the last couple days been inundated with news stories about the world famous great basketball player who was killed in a helicopter crash.  He was the sports idol of many in the US and the world.

I haven’t listened to most of the reports, just a few minutes, but I have never heard it said whether he was a believer in the Lord or not.  And that is the key of all life.

Is a person a true believer in the Lord?  Have they been born again, as Jesus said must happen to be in the Kingdom of God?  Have they accepted Jesus as the Lord of their life?

The Lord was very straightforward about all this.  He laid down the criteria.  I have written about all this before.  It all comes down to truly realizing who Jesus is and truly believing in him.  You must know the Lord and he must know you are his.

In all the news lately about the superstar there are all kinds of reports.  But what about his eternity, or that of the others on the helicopter?

Every day we hear accounts of death – some in our circle but mostly people we do not know, deaths from car accidents or violent and insane crime, or some disease.  Wonder how many know the Lord truly and have moved on to a wonderful future?

Death is in the end a very simple thing.  I have had many in my life die, young and old, as I expect you have if you have lived a few years.

Think of death this way.  Suppose we are in the room of a person who is dying, who is near their last moments of life.  Let’s say her name is Betty.  Suppose other people are in the room – Betty’s brother and children, a couple friends.  Somewhere in this room is a door that at the moment no one can see. But soon Betty will see that door, and she will go through it into another room, another place.  Betty’s brother and children and friends will all still be in the first room, but Betty will now be in the other room, the other place.  All in the first room cannot see Betty in the other room.  They can’t even see the door.  But she is indeed there.  And she is no longer in the first room.  All that remains there is the physical body that she once lived in, now just lifeless material that clearly is not Betty the person.

A real mystery isn’t it.  Really unusual for us here in this physical realm.  No wonder so few ever talk about death.  No wonder it is so ignored in our society.  We believers know and understand it is a way to be with the Lord forever, a way to Heaven.  It is the only way in fact other than going with Jesus when he returns to collect his believers.

Life is far more weird and unusual and bizarre than we can even imagine.  The world that made ours and us and in some way oversees us is the spiritual realm.  God himself made earth and people and animals and trees and so on.  Father God and Jesus and all those who have died knowing Jesus like Betty are in Heaven, a wonderful place located somewhere.  The Holy Spirit form of God is on earth right now, especially involved with those who are true believers in the Lord.   Those who have spent much time studying Heaven think possibly it is itself a planet in the north.  But then others think it may be in a parallel universe, whatever that is.

All the time we have been living our lives on this planet, there has been a raging war between God’s angels and the evil ones that follow the devil, Satan, Lucifer, the evil one, whatever you choose to call him.  This formerly top ranking angel of God has been thrown out of Heaven along with a third of the angels.  Now some of these fallen angels are in captivity.  How many?  Satan also has following him hordes of demons.  We just don’t know what they are.  Some think they are the fallen angels, but nowhere in the Bible is there any evidence angels seek or want to inhabit a human body, which is what demons do.   Maybe demons are disembodied life forms, in other words, spirits of individuals of some type that have long departed their bodies.  Are they from our human being race?  Or from some time before that?  We don’t know.

We believers are protected and I think in part kept alive by some of God’s angels that he has assigned to take care of us.  See Hebrews 1:14.  And our knowledge of all God has given us to protect ourselves also helps protect us as long as we know how to apply it.

But back to the title and the opening paragraph.  Just how few people really know God and know where they are going after death?  And how large is that group that does not know and – at least for many – doesn’t appear to give that subject any thought.

Maybe the death of this world famous athlete will at least get some people thinking about death and their future, leading to their being open to being drawn by God to Jesus.

My challenge to you and to myself as well is to speak of the Lord, the gospel message, and his imminent return to others every opportunity you have.  Ask the Holy Spirit to arrange such opportunities for you and to guide you in all that.  The only truly important thing for any person right now is that they truly know the Lord.  If they do they can move on to the next most important thing – telling others.

You can see easily from the television news and the sports programs and the entertainment world and all those around you that huge is the number of people that do not know the Lord truly and thus are not going with him when they die or when he returns unless something changes in their lives.  It is a big challenge – and responsibility - for you and me.

SIGN OF THE TIMES: PLAIN TALK

We are living now in the time of massive delusions on the parts of whole groups of people including some famous and prominent ones in positions of great responsibility.  And that is so dangerous to the world and humanity at large.  It is also reflective of the time in which we live.  Scripture tells us that eventually God will send those who refuse to accept the truth (e.g., the truth of the gospel, the truth about Jesus) a delusion.  Is that what is happening?  Certainly that may be the case, although I hope some of the young obviously lost souls we see on the TV and at times in person espousing ridiculous untruths may just be confused because they have never truly heard the truth.  I hope God will indeed reach some of these through us or other means.

But there is no doubt some are indeed deluded and have no excuse.  The Pope for example, who in his actions is working towards a one world government and a one world religion.  His actions are public and there for all to see.  Surely he has read the Bible, has read the book of Revelation.  Surely.   Delusion.  The move to bring in all these lost religions, the move to bring about one-world education, his lost comments such as Christians should not be seeking to convert others – goodness, do you think he ever read the Great Commission?

There are leaders in the Catholic Church who recognize this and speak out.  I just read some words from a Cardinal who basically said what I just wrote above.  Will they be heard by those who consider themselves Catholics?

One great problem of our day as far as belief and faith and being lost and deluded goes is that the majority of those who call themselves by one denomination or another for the most part have never read and studied and meditated on God’s word, let alone sought and received the guidance of the Holy Spirit on what his words mean.  They just don’t know the Word.  They have let and continue to let preachers and priests and others tell them what to think.  And for many denominations that is a prescription for being eternally lost.  In many denominations and thus many brick building churches the hired or appointed preacher or priest never gets into the true great depths of the faith, never gets into the fact that the Holy Spirit is active right now and miracles and healings happen right now today, never gets into the imminent return of the Lord, never gets into all Jesus accomplished, never gets into the true great reality of prayer.  Why? Because many of them don’t know themselves?  Possibly.  Also because the hierarchy of their denomination is just so lost itself and thus provides poor guidance.

Look at the National Council of Churches and the many protestant churches that are members.  They continually speak out against Israel and take action against Israel.  Are they insane?  Well, deluded to be sure.

Look at the Methodist church that is in the process of splitting into two groups because of the great demand of many churches in that denomination to have gay (LGBTQ) preachers and to perform gay marriages.  Yet the Bible is clear on the subject of homosexual behavior.  In Leviticus and Romans and the last page of Revelation.   Clear.  Clear.  Clear.   Not an acceptable behavior.  Will keep a person out of the Kingdom.  Those Methodist churches pushing to approve the things noted above are just lost.  They are not churches of the Lord Jesus are they? No, but neither are so many other churches out there.  And thus the great risk for all those so called Christian believers who attend church on Sundays and let the pastors tell them what to think and spend no time on their own searching out God’s truths and seeking him in prayer.

By the way, the African branch of the Methodist church has been horrified for some time by this impending support of homosexual behavior in the Methodist church.  They will surely be not accepting that position.  Wait….didn’t these African churches result from America and the Methodist church and other churches sending Africa missionaries so long ago?  The pupil has now become the true teacher!  Africa, as well as South America, is sending missionaries to America, in case you do not know.  Australia also is doing that.  Why?  Because so many of the traditional American churches and the Sunday churchgoers in America are lost, lost, lost.

So the Pope is clearly deluded.  Is that true for other famous leaders?  Appears so – in Congress, in Hollywood, certainly in the media.

Let’s take a moment to talk about delusion and illusion.  We all are familiar with the less serious term illusion – that word just relates to a physical condition, something which confuses the senses.  Like the old optical illusion games we all have seen or played.  Like maybe seeing two parallel lines that appear to intersect because of the background, like seeing two doors that appear to be of different sizes but are not because of the way they are drawn.  Illusions are like that.  Magician entertainers live in the world of illusions, doing things that trick us but we know they are not real.

The word delusion is deadly serious.  It refers to what goes on inside a person.  It is mental in nature.  And therein the danger.  People deep in their minds and hearts believe things that are not true and obviously are not true to those who have the gift of discernment and are not confused.  Without some shaking deep in the soul of those people, change will not be forthcoming.  They will not respond to simple logical discussions and arguments.

In the last days God gives those who will not accept the truth a delusion.

Frightening.  Do not think these deluded people out there in positions of authority or in those random and bizarre street demonstrations are not dangerous.  They are.

These are the last days.  Things happen.

In the words of our Lord, Stay alert!  Watch! So that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen.  Pray for protection for yourself and your family and others.  Cast out evil spirits in Jesus’ name.  Seek the continual guidance of the Holy Spirit and apply that great gift of discernment to confusing situations.

One writer on this subject of the last days refers to those believers who know the truth and who seek to educate others as crazy uncles.  In other words, those around do not accept them for what they say.  They are considered crazy, but they are at least still tolerated.   He suggests those crazy uncles, which would be most of us I think who are reading this, just prepare material to be used by all those to be left behind so then hopefully they will read and see the truth and be able to protect themselves in the terrible seven year tribulation.  He apparently may have given up on our influencing others to believe and see now.  I am not yet at that point, but I do see how hard headed and lost the mass of the people are.

May God have mercy on us all.

* REAL THANKSGIVING: CAN YOU IMAGINE?

CAN YOU CONCEIVE HOW FRIGHTENING THE WORLD MUST BE TO A NONBELIEVER?

Now remember, that is what most people are – nonbelievers.

Imagine not knowing Jesus, not knowing there is a future for you, not knowing that there is a God and that that God forgives you and loves you.  Imagine not knowing that that God indeed has a plan for you.

Imagine not knowing any of the truths of life, like the truths about death and resurrection, about forgiveness, about the Kingdom of God, about divine healing.

Imagine not knowing that God is real, that Jesus is real, that the Holy Spirit is real, that the Bible is true, that angels are real, that the devil and demons are real too.

Imagine not knowing how to protect yourself using the armor of God or not having God’s angels around to serve you.

Imagine that every day is basically a random events day, a day where the significance of things that happen is just not understood, where everything is considered an accident or coincidence or perhaps something you in your own strength and abilities have planned and scheduled that has worked out or not.

Imagine just not knowing and sitting on a quiet night and wondering where you are, what existence is, what is going to happen to you.  Imagine thinking the grave is the end, the only end.

Imagine.

Thank God that you don’t have to!

Thank God that you know Jesus!  Praise God!  Thank Jesus for his incredible sacrifice!  We cannot say thanks enough.  There are no words or actions that suffice.
