* TIME TO STAND AGAINST HURRICANE DORIAN!

We are approaching the end of summer and the Southeast United States is again being threatened by an approaching hurricane, this time named Dorian by the meteorologists.  It is still far out to sea but is on a course towards Florida, with possible impacts on Georgia and other neighboring states.

But we believers know what Jesus said about all this.   In John 14:12-14 Jesus said those who believe in him will do the same things he had been doing, even greater.  He said that he would do whatever we ask him in his name.  He also said over in John 16:23 that Father God will give us whatever we ask him in Jesus’ name.

In Mark 11:22-23 Jesus made the point that anyone who has faith in God can say to their mountain “go and throw yourself into the sea,” and if they believe and do not doubt, it will be done as they have said.  The mountain for those living along the Southeast coast today is the harsh and strong storm named Dorian.

It’s time right now once again to focus on these verses and to put your faith into action.  The gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of power and not just word!  It is these verses and others that lead us to realize that in Jesus all things are possible.

What did Jesus do?  He healed the sick.  He also changed the weather.  And much more.    And he says we can do the same things as he.

Well, we do.  People do receive their healing!  And the weather is changed!

We have certainly seen hurricanes turn aside in the past and/or diminish in power when we and others took that bold stand and action in Jesus’ name, and we have faith and expect that now.  Remember last year when hurricane Florence dropped from a category 4 to a category 1 almost immediately just before hitting land!

So I ask now everyone wherever you are to use these truths to pray against this storm, to take a stand.  (I personally like to step outside and face southeast in this case, raising arm and hand with palm to the southeast, to the Atlantic ocean.)

All of you should declare:

In Jesus’ name, I order the hurricane named Dorian to turn aside from land, to go out to sea and to diminish and disappear.  In Jesus’ name, I order that storm to touch no land and harm no people and no boats!

Be bold!  You can put this in your own words, but that is what Jesus said we could do.  Remember, he changed the weather.  He stopped storms.

Do it now!

Thank you all and God bless you all.

TIME TO STAND AGAINST HURRICANE FLORENCE

The Southeast United States is being threatened by Hurricane Florence, which is still way out at sea as I write this.  The weathermen have drawn all sorts of threatening paths it might follow.

But we believers know what Jesus said in John 14, that those who have faith can do the same things he did, even greater.  He said that he would do whatever we ask him in his name.  He also said over in John 16 that Father God will give us whatever we ask him in Jesus’ name.

So I ask now everyone wherever you are to use these truths to pray against this storm, to take a stand.  (I personally like to step outside and face east to do this, raising arm and hand with palm to the east, to the Atlantic ocean.)

All of you should declare:

In Jesus’ name, I order the hurricane named Florence to turn aside from land, to go out to sea and to diminish and disappear.  In Jesus’ name, I order that storm to touch no land and harm no people and no boats!

A MUST-READ CHRISTMAS STORY - CLEMENTINES

God loves us. He really, really does. That’s a key part of the Christmas message. Why else would He ever have sent His son here to go through what he went through? And why else would Jesus ever have willingly gone to the cross?

I was reminded of that this past weekend in a way only God can arrange. Sunday afternoon a friend was coming to visit us at home. Late in the afternoon the doorbell rang, and I opened the door. There stood our friend, holding out a box of clementines. For those of you who do not know, clementines are small citrus fruit, like small oranges, and they seem to make an appearance in grocery stores about this time of year. They come in small but clearly distinct boxes.

Our friend handed me this box of clementines. “God told me to get this for you,” she said. And she went on, exclaiming that God was very specific and strong about it. “So I went into a grocery store and I couldn’t find them. I thought that I would just get a poinsettia, but well, God said to get clementines.” So she stuck with her search, and she found them. Later in the kitchen she spoke with Cathy and asked if clementines were my favorite. Our friend couldn’t get over how insistent God had been.

Later I thought more about this. I remembered how as my children grew up we would always get a box of clementines sometime around Christmas. It was a regular feature in our house. The box could always be found sitting somewhere in the kitchen. Everyone liked them. To this day when I see a display of clementines in a store, I want to buy a box.

And I thought some more. Here we are in the ministry involved in our usual activities and praying for guidance from God on key issues, like where and how to proceed in the expensive television ministry, where and what meetings to arrange, whether to begin another regular meeting in southeastern NC, and more. For months, even years, we have been going steadily forward, always fighting and overcoming attacks of the evil one which do come whenever anyone steps out for God. Into the midst of all that God sent an obedient woman friend to bring a box of clementines. Even when I write this the Holy Spirit is so strong in the office I keep stopping and reflecting. Is that love? Yes! And much more. That is God saying - John, even in the midst of all this, I’m still here, and I love you, and look, I even know little things about you, like how you like a box of clementines and what that means to you.

So I've been feeling really warm every since. God sent me a box of clementines for Christmas. God knows where you are and what you’re going through. He knows every hair on your head. Every day, if we’ll just look around and take time to see with spiritual eyes, we’ll see God directing our paths.

What a heavenly Father we have!

GOD MOMENT: THE EIGHT HOUR HEALING

Some years ago Cathy and I were preparing to attend a night meeting (not a meeting we were leading, just a program we were attending).  Just before leaving she whacked her foot on the lower sharp, pointed corner of a kitchen cabinet!  The pain was excruciating.  Eventually though she was able to hobble down to the car and off we went.

After the meeting was over, Cathy informed me she could not walk!  So I prayed for healing, for an end to pain, and she was able to get up and slowly walk to the car. We went home, slowly up the stairs, and into the bedroom where she lay down fully clothed on the bed, propping her foot up on a pillow.  I remember the foot was dramatic!  Looking at the bottom, it appeared as if a pitcher of blood was just being poured in the foot and the foot was filling with blood from the heel to the toe.  Cathy spoke over the telephone with her brother, a doctor, who told her she wouldn't be walking for six weeks.

But we quoted the healing scriptures and prayed for her foot to be healed.  Then we just went to sleep for the night.  Now, Cathy had the alarm clock set for about six or seven in the morning, and it was her custom to leap out of bed when the alarm clock rang. As morning approached, I suddenly heard the clock alarm ring.  And of course I instantly remembered how she was used to leaping from the bed. Well, that is what she did. She leaped up from the bed and came down hard standing on both feet. And she did not yell in pain! The foot was completely healed.  I mean completely.  No swelling, nothing.

It was an eight hour healing!!  I use this account often to describe how sometimes healing takes place over time.

* GOD MOMENT: SIGN OF THE DOVE

Cathy and I had long loved the beach environment and we one day finally realized we could live and work there.  Our goal was to find a house close to the ocean with a good view.  But after weekends of driving two hundred miles from our home and then searching and finding little that fit our desires or pocketbooks, we were becoming a bit depressed.  Finally, we decided to rank what we had found.  Two houses came out at the top of the list.
A second-row house had a great view but a walk-through revealed wood floors suffering from water damage, repair work underway on interior walls and floors, and a general musty smell.
The other house had been decorated by someone with great taste and flair, but it had no ocean view, and huge threatening dogs lived in a pen backing up to it.
We turned to prayer, seeking God’s guidance.  One day I came home from work to hear these words from Cathy: “I think our house has something to do with the word, ‘dove.’  That’s what I keep hearing when I pray.  And I also hear it is “farther down the beach.”
So we returned to the shore yet another weekend.  We scoured maps and searched everywhere for Dove Street, Dove Avenue, just any street that included the name dove, or for a development with that name.  We also looked farther down the beach.  Nothing was found.
Just before driving home, we visited a house under construction.  It was a few hundred feet from the ocean, on about the fifth row of houses.  As we looked about, the couple that lived across the street came to meet us.  After telling us how wonderful the neighborhood was, the husband said, “We would pay fifty thousand dollars just for the right to live in this neighborhood.”  Quite an endorsement.
The next weekend we returned and drove again to the house under construction.  We had by now realized it was indeed “farther down the beach,” about four blocks farther down.
Cathy and I walked through the construction rubble into the house.  The rooms were taking shape, and the wood sub floors were down.  As I looked about the main living area, Cathy continued out the back door.
Suddenly in a firm but not loud voice, I heard her say, “John, come out here.”
I walked to where she was standing.  She had a finger at her lips, motioning me to be quiet.
Cathy said not a word but pointed down to the right.  There standing quietly and looking back at us was a dove, a real, living dove.  For a moment we were overcome and absolutely still, looking at the beautiful bird and realizing the incredible hand of God.
We quickly checked out the entire house and even climbed onto a high unfinished deck.  No stairs had yet been built so we had to use a ladder.  Once there, we stood in awe, shocked by a spectacular view of the ocean.
We bought that house, the house farther down the beach, the house of the dove, the house to which Cathy had been guided.  It was also the house with our desired view of the ocean and, as has proven to be the case and as we were told, with a great neighborhood.  God is so good!

* GOD MOMENT: I DIDN'T DO THIS!

The wife called with great concern.  Her husband Jack had just been taken to the hospital with a bleeding brain tumor.  He was now in intensive care.
Quickly I went to the hospital, calling Cathy to meet me there.
Arriving, I found a large number of coworkers of the man standing about.  They could not get into the intensive care.  Jack was in a coma.  His wife came, and I spoke with her a few moments.  Then Cathy arrived and talked with those present.  With all the people about and Jack in a closed off intensive care unit, I wondered a bit about my next step.
I quietly walked away from the group and around the corner, finding a chair where I could be alone.  There I prayed.  I asked God what he wanted me to do here.  It was very clear:  pray for him to be healed.
So I returned.  Somehow the crowd of coworkers had dissipated.  Cathy alone was there.  We went up to the entrance of the intensive care unit and pressed the red buzzer.  I had even wondered if we would be able to get in at all.
But instantly a nurse answered and said for us to come in.  She gave us the specific location.
Jack was all alone in his room, lying in a coma.  Cathy went up one side of the bed and I the other.  The air was full of electricity.  It was palpable.  I anointed Jack with oil for healing, and I spoke the healing words as I was led to do.  And I said “Be healed in Jesus name!”
Cathy and I turned and walked to the door of the room.  I glanced back at Jack still lying on the bed, and one arm raised and waved at us!
The next day I telephoned the hospital room and his wife answered.  She was excited.  Jack was sitting up in a chair praising God.  The neurosurgeon had been by, and he had said “I didn’t do this.”
No he didn’t. God did.  All glory to God!

* GOD MOMENT: JUST FOR YOU

Perspiration trickled steadily from my forehead after standing three hours in line with my wife and perhaps ten thousand other people outside the coliseum.  We had driven several hundred miles the day before to attend a series of wonderful crusade meetings.  Now we were waiting for the doors to open for the last and likely most eventful session.

The line finally began to move, and slowly we crept forward.  For more than twenty minutes we moved until at last we were able to enter the building.  Quickly we hurried to entrance ramps to the seat sections.

Every meeting had been crowded.  In fact, a few thousand people the night before had been unable to get in.

As we emerged inside the arena, our hearts sank.  It appeared that every seat already was taken.

Quickly we went back down the ramp and hurried as best we could in the dense crowd to another section.  Again, no seats.  We repeated the process over and over.

Slowly we began to realize that we might be among the ones forced to go outside.

As a last attempt, hurrying before the announcement was made that all standing must leave, we walked around to the section beside the stage.  We struggled to get to the top of the ramp to the seats.  Looking about, I saw no available seats.  I looked down.  Nothing.  I looked up.  Nothing.  I was panting now, and I just stood, damp from perspiration, tired from the day of waiting and standing in the blazing sun.

Slowly I turned to where my wife was standing and, I assumed, looking around.

Cathy was staring directly into the stands to our right, not moving at all.  I looked in the direction she was staring.  A seated woman was staring back at us.  Two empty seats were to her right, and another to her left, but no people were moving towards them.

“It’s Joan,” was all Cathy could say.

It really was Joan, the wife of the former assistant minister of the church back home, hundreds of miles away.  Joan had been fighting a serious illness for years.  She and her husband had moved from our city a year ago.

Shocked at seeing her in this huge crowd, we did our best to walk around others and go towards her.

As we came nearer, Cathy shouted, “I can’t believe it’s you!  We’ve been looking everywhere for seats.  There just aren’t any.”

“We’ve been saving these two,” Joan replied, stunned at seeing us.  “I guess we were saving them for you.”

We all knew God had arranged this, for Cathy and me to be able to participate in the final session and to sit beside Joan and her minister husband Bob, who was dumbstruck by our presence when he returned in a minute to claim his seat on Joan’s left.  We even had time to pray together for Joan’s health before the night ended.  Another precious moment orchestrated by God.

* GOD MOMENT: THE TRIP HOME

It was late at night a couple years ago, and Cathy and I were driving back from a visit to an off-shore island on the East Coast.  We were far away but hoped to make it home rather than have to spend the night somewhere.

We had crossed over a large sound and were on the mainland, driving through some heavily wooded and swampy area, heading directly westward.  Almost no other cars were on the road.  It was a sparsely crowded area.  We just drove and drove.  I looked at the GPS and the map.  I had realized we would eventually intersect with a smaller highway, not an interstate but an old highway that would go south winding its way through countless little towns.  It would be heading south, the right direction, and it would save an hour or two of driving to get to the nearest interstate heading south.

Cathy and I talked about the merits of turning onto the smaller highway.  She wasn’t sure it was a good idea, but I thought it a good way that might save time and would get us heading in the right direction.  We discussed it and drove along.  Eventually we approached the intersection where we would have to turn off to get onto that highway.  We decided to go ahead and take the small highway.  So at the proper exit Cathy turned right up the exit ramp and followed the signs that eventually led to going south on the smaller highway.  So now we drove along, quiet and peaceful that we had made the turn and were on the way south.

Time passed uneventfully.  Maybe a half hour.  Nothing of note and nothing of interest.  It was very dark.  Then I saw a sign.  It mentioned a small city and said sixty miles.  I saw it.   And then suddenly realized …why that city?  We are going south on the small highway.  That city was much further west on the original route!  Why was that sign even there?  I looked up at the compass on the car.  WEST!  It said we were going west!  But we had exited the original route and had turned south onto the smaller highway.  We had been driving many miles since.  I checked again.  I checked the GPS.  I saw more signs.  We were indeed heading west.  We were on the original road!  We were still driving on the original road we had been on before turning off, and we were going west, now much nearer the big interstate.

Cathy and I were quiet.  You could hear our breath.  Finally one of us made the obvious observation.  “I guess God did not want us to go on that smaller highway.”  For whatever reason we may never know, he did not want us there.  We continued on to the interstate, took it, and eventually got home.

God had not let us turn off to the smaller highway.  We got home safely.  Would we have had a problem, an accident, run into something dangerous, if we had driven on the smaller southbound highway?  Maybe.   Something for sure.  But physically, even though we had turned off on the exit and had driven onto the small highway going south, we were not on it.  God did not let it happen.  Another miracle.

Years before at a meeting at a university someone praying over me had prophesied miracles would follow me always and that I would not even see them unless I looked back.  That’s pretty much the way it has been.  Sometimes the wonders and miracles are clear and understood.  Sometimes, as in the case of this journey home, I just realize God had better plans for us and he made sure we didn’t get on the wrong route.  He does things like that.  How?  Who knows?  He is God.

* GOD MOMENT: VANISHED, NOT TO BE FOUND AGAIN!

A few years ago I was sitting in a church chapel while another man led a healing service.  A woman came to the front for healing.  She had a large lump in her thigh, a tumor the size of an orange.  Her sister had died from a similar such tumor.
The man put his hand on the tumor, and I got up, walked to the woman, and put my hand on top of his hand on the tumor.  We then spoke healing words over this and in Jesus' name ordered the lump to be gone.
A couple days later my telephone in the office rang. It was the church secretary.  They had been trying to reach me.  The woman had called the church to report what had happened.
After leaving the chapel service she had gone to see her doctor.  He could not find the lump!  So he sent her to the hospital for an MRI.  That procedure confirmed it: the lump was gone!
Vanished!  She had been instantly healed!!!
There is even an interesting addition to this wonderful event.  Some years later a woman and her husband came to our office for healing prayer for the husband.  While there she said she believed in healing, that some time back she had had a lump in her thigh and she had gone to a service and she then proceeded to repeat what I just wrote above.
I told her, "I was there.  That was me, along with the other man."
She rightfully did not even remember who I was, for it was Jesus who had healed her so long ago, and she had just received it that day.  It is always Jesus.  By his stripes, we are healed and made whole.

* A STORM WARNING AND CALL TO ACTION

It is time for believers to take action against this storm Matthew that is currently in the Caribbean.  According to the weather experts, many population areas are in the potential path of this storm.
But of course we know the Lord.  We know what he can do.  And we know what we can do in him.

In John 14:12-14 Jesus said these words:

12 … whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. (NIV)

What did Jesus do?  Healed the sick, cast out demons, fed thousands of people from just initially a tiny amount of food, and CHANGED THE WEATHER (see Mark 4:35-41 and Matthew 8:23-27)!  And much more of course.

In past times of dangerous storms we have called upon those on our distribution list and especially those in the possible path of the storm to go out on their decks and porches or just the land itself and face in the direction of the storm and in Jesus name order the storm to dissipate, to go away, to turn away, to weaken.  Order the winds to be no greater than 20 miles an hour.  Order it to go out to sea.  All those things.  All in Jesus name.  Speak to the storm just as Jesus did.

You can do those things.  We can, in Jesus’ name.  We have, for years.  I’ve sent messages like this one out several times in the past and you and we have taken action and God has honored that!

Some years ago a powerful storm came directly toward where we live on the coast, and we and others took such action.  The storm roared up and stopped a few miles off shore.  It stayed there.  And we all kept ordering it away in Jesus’ name.  It stayed about a week!  And then it turned and went away.

God’s words are truth.  They work.

Exercise what Jesus has given you.  Do it.

May God bless you all.

Keep Your Eyes on Jesus!

A CHRISTMAS GIFT

[This true, wonderful, and amazing demonstration of God's love for each of us occurred in my life in December 2007.  I am reprinting this for all who have not seen it.
